  • Axis Bank moves media biz to MediaVest Worldwide

    MUMBAI: Axis Bank has appointed MediaVest Worldwide as it media AoR. The Starcom MediaVest Group agency will handle the business from its Mumbai office.

    The incumbent agency on the account was Madison Media.
    Effective 1 August, the agency will cover media planning and buying for all Axis Bank campaigns.

    Axis Bank CMO Manisha Lath Gupta said, “While evaluating, we realised SMG has robust planning tools which will help us integrate across different mediums. With their Human Experience Strategy and approach, we believe, they are well poised to handle the media challenges lying in front of Axis Bank for the future.”

    SMG India CEO Malli CR said, “Axis Bank is a blue chip client and we are honored and delighted to have them on board. They have an exciting brand vision and we look forward to delivering their goals with SMG‘s future focused medi a product that is predicated on insights and analytics, digital and content.”

    According to the official statement, SMG has been strengthening the MediaVest brand across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and will soon announce a few senior management hires.

    Axis has also announced earlier today that its digital duties will be handled by Publicis Groupe‘s Digitas India. 

  • Madison Media Omega ropes in Dinesh Rathore as COO

    MUMBAI: Madison Media has appointed Dinesh Singh Rathore as COO of Madison Media Omega.

    Rathore comes in from Starcom MediaVest Group where he was head MediaVest, Mumbai and Delhi offices and was based in Bombay.

    Rathore brings with him 17 years of experience in media having worked with media agencies like Mudra. He has served as also served head of FutureWorks, the specialist unit of SMG that handled the Future Group business. During the course of his career, he has worked with brands like Zydus Wellness, Emirates, The Mobile Store, Tata Housing, Novartis, World Gold Council, Wipro, Toyota, SabMiller, Essilor, Hitachi, Rasna and Only Vimal.

    Madison Media group CEO Gautam Kiyawat said, “I am delighted to have Dinesh join our Leadership team and am sure he will add a lot of value to our clients in Bangalore.”

    Rathore said, “I am looking forward to this new role and contributing to an enviable list of clients.”

    Madison Media has seen quite a few appointments in the recent past including Madison Media Group CEO Gautam Kiyawat and Manish Bharil as GM to head the Brittania account. Madison Media also been in the news for winning the accounts of Crompton Greaves, Enamor and Dixcy Textile.

  • Madison Media appoints Manish Bharil as GM to head Britannia biz

    Mumbai: Madison Media has appointed Manish Bharil as general manager.

    Based in Bangalore, Bharil will lead the Britannia account. He will work out of Madison Media Omega office.

    Madison Media Group CEO Gautam Kiyawat said, “I am glad to have Manish join our team in Bangalore and am sure he will be able to add a lot of strategic inputs to one of our leading clients Britannia.”

    Bharil added, “I am delighted to join back Madison and am looking forward to this new role in leading the Britannia account.”

    Bharil comes in with over 12 years of experience in media. He joins Madison from Mindshare Bombay where he was senior director –
    invention. He had earlier worked with Madison Bombay for seven years as deputy general manager.

  • Madison Media is Crompton Greaves media AOR

    MUMBAI: Madison Media Sigma has bagged the media duties of the electrical appliances manufacturer Crompton Greaves.

    The agency will handle its entire range of products including fans, lights, lighting fixtures and pumps.

    Madison World chairman and MD Sam Balsara said, “We are delighted to add a reputed global engineering conglomerate like Crompton Greaves in our roster of clients and are confident of helping Crompton Greaves get its rightful share and more in India’s growing market.”

    Madison Media recently also won the Dixcy Textile’s Media duties.

    The agency is involved in handling media planning and buying for clients including Airtel, Godrej, Cadbury, ITC, General Motors, Marico, McDonald’s TVS, Britannia, Procter & Gamble, Asian Paints, Tata Tea, Shriram Transport Finance, Levis, SpiceJet, Axis Bank, Domino’s, Bharti Axa, MaxNewyork Life Insurance, Tata Salt, Acer, Dish TV, Times Television Network and Indian Oil among others.

    The gross billing of Madison Media is Rs 30 billion.

    Madison Media gets Gautam Kiyawat to replace Punitha as Group CEO

    MUMBAI: Madison Media has appointed Gautam Kiyawat as CEO – Madison Media Group. He will replace Punitha Arumugam who is joining Google India.

    Kiyawat moves in from Research in Motion (Blackberry), where he was senior director – head of marketing operations, APAC region.

    Kiyawat has experience in media, marketing and communications spanning over 17 years in markets like India, South East Asia and US. A graduate from IIM Bangalore, he started his career with Procter & Gamble in India in 1995. In 2002 he moved for Phillips where he worked for two years before joining News Corp (Star TV), South East Asia. In 2009 he joined a digital creative media company named AdVerb.

    Madison World chairman and managing director Sam Balsara said, “I am delighted to have Gautam join us. His cross market experience of managing brands, media companies and a digital startup are all very relevant to the exciting future we see for Madison. I am sure he will add a lot of value to Madison Media clients and bring a fresh new holistic business perspective”.

    Madison alumnus D.Sriram is also joining Madison Media as a consulting director and will spend approximately one week every month advising on agency operations, and will also be available for key clients. Sriram was Madison‘s first media director in 1995. After that he has worked with DMB&B and Starcom Mediavest Group to eventually become APAC CEO for Starcom Mediavest Group. Sriram also had a stint as COO, China for Aegis Group, and for the last 18 months has been operating as an independent consultant to startup agencies and media companies across the region.

    D Sriram joins Madison Media as consulting director

    MUMBAI: D Sriram is soon joining Madison Media as consulting director.

    Confirming the development, a highly placed executive said, “Sriram will be rejoining us. He will be consulting for the agency from Singapore.”

    This is Sriram‘s second stint with Madison. Earlier, in 1995, he was with the agency serving as media director.

    Later, he moved to Media Vest as GM China and was subsequently promoted as Starcom MediaVest Group CEO, Asia Pacific in 2005.

    After SMG, Sriram moved to Promeoh as CEO and later to Aegis Media as its COO.Since November 2010, Sriram has been working as an independent consultant.

    Punitha bids adieu to Madison, to join Google

    MUMBAI: Madison Media group CEO Punitha Arumugam has decided to move on after a 13-year stint with the company.

    Arumugam will be joining Google as VP-agency and advertiser relations soon.

    A highly placed source has confirmed the development to Indiantelevision.com. “Sam (Balsara, chairman and MD of Madison World) has sent the mail today telling us about Punitha’s leaving the company,” the executive said on condition of anonymity.

    Arumugam will be serving her notice period till March. She had joined Madison in January 1999 as media services director and then moved up to become COO in 2001.

    She was named as chief executive officer of Madison Media West in 2003.

    At Madison, she handled clients like Kinetic, the Essel Group, P&G, Godrej and BPL.

    Prior to Madison, she has also worked with O&M and Lintas Chennai/Bangalore.

    Arumugam was unavailable for comment till the filing of this report.

    Platinum Media bags Dixcy Textiles’ media mandate

    MUMBAI: Madison Media Group’s Platinum Media has won the media planning and buying account of Dixcy Textiles.

    The account is estimated to be around Rs 250 million, the company said.

    The incumbent agency on the account is MPG.

    Platinum Media CEO Basabdutta Chowdhury said, “We are delighted that Dixcy has appointed us as their Media AOR and am confident that we will be able to add a lot of value to their business and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership.”

    Dixcy Textiles director Rahul Sikka added, “Talks were on for almost two years about this shift and also new product launches and the expertise of the agency to handle the same has made us take this decision.”

    Tirupur-based Dixcy Textiles is a hosiery company. It markets its products under the brand names of Dixcy and Dixcy Scott. The company is into inner wear, thermal wear and casual wear.

    Lakshminarayan comes with over 16 years of experience in media having worked in media agencies like Madison Media, Initiative Media and Starcom as well as with media channels like Colors and FoodFood. Across his career, he has worked on a large and diverse portfolio of brands like Godrej, Cadbury, Marico, Asian Paints, Bharti Axa, Infosys, Britannia, Titan, Heinz, Pillsbury and Hallmark amongst others.

    Ramkrishna re-joins Madison as Sr GM and will be based in Mumbai.
