  • Meraj Hasan quits Everest Brand Solutions

    MUMBAI: Meraj Hasan, vice president-planning at Everest Brand Solutions, has resigned.

    Hasan told Indiantelevision.com that he has quit the agency to pursue his interest in music and poetry.

    He and his partner Anirudh Chohan are launching ‘Unsung Ones‘ to create poetry with guitar and harmonica.

    Hasan said, “My journey with Everest Brand Solutions has been fantastic. I needed a break to pursue my interest in poetry and I didn‘t want my work to suffer.”

    Hasan has over 12 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining Everest Brand Solutions he had also worked with agencies like TBWAIndia, Rediffusion Y&R, Lowe and Partners Worldwide.

  • Everest appoints Deepti Sakhuja as VP for Delhi

    MUMBAI: Deepti Sakhuja has joined Everest Delhi as vice president and will be closely working with COO Naveen Saraswat.

    Sakhuja has 14 years of experience in brand management across organisations like Publicis Capital, JWT, Lowe, Bates Enterprise and McCann. Her last assignment was with Publicis Capital as AVP, client servicing. Sakhuja has worked across categories on leading brands like Nestle, Perfetti, Reckitt Benkiser, Pepsi, Wills Lifestyle, Monte Carlo, Citi-financial, Nokia and Escorts.

    Saraswat said, “We welcome Deepti on board. Her substantial experience of working on leading brands across different verticals shall add strength to our Delhi operations. We look forward to her valuable contribution in acquiring new business and growth of the agency.”

    Everest president Dhunji S Wadia said, “Our increasing presence in Delhi necessitates a powerful Head of Client Servicing. I have no doubt that Deepti will add to the fire-power of Everest.”

  • McCann Delhi appoints Sambit Mohanty as ECD

    MUMBAI: McCann Delhi has appointed Sambit Mohanty as the executive creative director.

    His last stint was with Bates- New Delhi as creative head where he worked for clients like Hitachi and Virgin Mobile.

    McCann Worldgroup chief executive officer Prasoon Joshi said, “I am extremely happy to have Sambit join us at McCann. I have not worked with him earlier but in my interaction with him sensed that he brings in a unique dimension. It‘s rare these days to find people with craft. Sambit has honed his craft and is a superb writer. I am positive that the creative prowess of McCann will get further strengthened with Sambit on board.”

    Mohanty has over 12 years of experience in advertising and design. Starting out as a copywriter at McCann Erickson, he‘s worked in agencies such as Lowe, Publicis, Leo Burnett and Elephant Design.

    He was also behind the ‘Where‘s the Pulp?‘ campaign for Minute Maid Pulpy Orange – a juice drink from Coke. His film for MMPO – ‘deflating oranges‘ – is a part of the Leo Burnett showreel and has been aired internationally in countries like Indonesia, Philippines, Kazakhstan and Mexico.

    Mohanty has worked for clients like Dettol, Mortein, Harpic (part of Reckitt-Benckiser), Tanishq, Britannia, Nestle (Maggi), HP, Indian Express, BBC World, Religare and Chevrolet.

    SpiceJet awards communication mandate to Grey Worldwide

    MUMBAI: Grey Worldwide Delhi has won the communication duties for Kalanithi Maran-owned low-cost airline SpiceJet, following a multi-agency pitch.

    The other agencies that participated in the pitch were GIIR, Draft+FCB, Lowe, BBDO and Contract.

    Contract was the incumbent agency on the account.

    SpiceJet CEO Neil Mills said, “We selected Grey Advertising for the strength of their creative strategy and the passion exhibited by their team. The Agency will have an important role to play in building the brand further as we grow, enabling SpiceJet to achieve its aim of becoming a people‘s airline and hence a carrier of choice.”

    Grey Delhi ECD Uddalak Gupta added, “Our approach was to think beyond the obvious and the conventional, and come up with solutions where customer engagement was key.”

    The pitch was announced in February and went through multiple rounds before SpiceJet finally awarded the account to Grey Worldwide, Delhi.

    Grey Delhi VP Planning Divya Pratap Mehta added, “In a category which is commoditised and facing business pressures, we stuck to fundamentals. Our starting point was to keep business growth and differentiation at the heart of the strategy.”

    Radio City inducts Rana Barua as south head

    MUMBAI: Radio City has made three top-level appointments to facilitate its growth and expansion plans, following the recent acquisition of 16 new FM broadcast licenses and the launch of its stations in Hyderabad, Chennai and Jaipur.

    Rana Barua has been appointed as head – south zone, Mohan Vizhakat as head – technology and IT and Anil Dhimri as head – projects / infrastructure at Radio City.
    As part of his new assignment, Barua will be responsible for three key markets – Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai.

    Barua is an experienced hand in the advertising industry with stints in agencies such as Rediffusion / Dentsu Y&R Mumbai, McCann – Erickson, Lowe, Ogilvy and JWT for over 10 years. Prior to joining Radio City, Barua held the position of VP and GM at Bates Enterprise, Mumbai.

    The private FM radio company has also appointed Vizhakat, who has over 19 years of experience in project management, IT infrastructure management, consultancy, IT-telecom integrated solutions, networking, information security across industry segments.

    Vizhakat has also received distinguished award and decoration from the president of India on the Republic Day 2001 for exemplary performance in project management during his tenure in the armed forces. A few of his previous assignments include Airtel Enterprise Solutions, Indecomm Global Services, Defence Research and Development Organization, informs an official release.

    On other other hand, as head – projects / infrastructure, Dimri comes in with more than 27 years of experience, and has handled several large office infrastructure projects with emphasis on cost saving in esteemed organisations like Tata Teleservices, Tata Cellular and Tata Unisys Limited to name a few.
