    Los Angeles Tourism appoints first-ever regional director for India market

    Mumbai: Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism) is deepening its foothold in the India Market with the appointment of Ms. Seema Kadam as it’s first-ever Regional Director, India. In 2018, Los Angeles welcomed 130,000 visitors from India, an increase of 5.1% year-over-year making India the 3rd highest year-over-year international growth market for Los Angeles.

    In her role, Kadam will develop and support air service for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX); spearhead strategic travel trade engagement including the implementation of a robust training program, using the L.A. Insider Program; and attend key industry trade shows in the region.

    “We established a travel trade presence in India several years ago through Sartha Marketing, who introduced Los Angeles to the industry. The time is now right to deepen our engagement. India holds such vast potential for Los Angeles and appointing a full-time, regional director to oversee all of our tourism activity is a natural evolution of our commitment to the market,” stated Kathryn Smits, Vice President, Tourism for Los Angeles Tourism. “Seema’s most recent experience with DMOs has her well-positioned to be successful in this new role.”

    On her newly appointed role, Kadam stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the travel fraternity in India, to showcase the diversity and depth of experiences that destination Los Angeles has to offer. With over 25 years in the Indian travel industry, I anticipate that this new role is most likely going to be the most exciting and challenging chapter yet. I am eagerly looking forward to utilizing my knowledge and experience to contribute to the destination’s business goals. It is an honor to be representing a destination like Los Angeles that promotes values like cultural diversity and inclusivity which connect strongly with me personally.”

    Kadam, who graduated from Mumbai University, also holds diplomas in Standard and Advanced Travel Management. Over the course of her career, she has worked with leading Indian travel players like Thomas Cook India, Kuoni Travels India, Finnair Plc, Switzerland Tourism and Tourism Fiji.

    In addition to her exceptional pan-India travel network created over the years, Seema is also skilled at establishing and implementing strategies that are business driven and result-oriented. With her strong product knowledge and business development strengths, she is aptly empowered to navigate any micro or macro challenges during her tenure.

    Los Angeles Tourism partners with Sonam Kapoor in new campaign

    MUMBAI: Los Angeles is no stranger to star power, so when it came time to showcase the city’s thriving arts and culture, culinary, sports and hotel scenes to Indian travelers, Los Angeles Tourism looked no further than one of India’s favourite couples, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja. The destination has featured the duo in its latest digital marketing campaign.

    Tapping into Sonam and Anand’s passion for reading, vegan cuisine, the film industry, basketball, art, and more, the four-episode campaign shows them visiting the legendary Los Angeles County Museum of Art, experiencing the one-of-a-kind Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, tasting Chef Esdras Ochoa’s famous vegan tacos at Salazar and vibing at the hot Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Paid content will run on Facebook and through a partnership with Times of India, while Sonam will also be posting content on her social media accounts.

    Los Angeles Tourism began investing in travel trade efforts in India back in 2016 and consumer marketing efforts began in 2017. In 2018, the city welcomed more than 130,000 visitors from India, a 5.1 per cent year-over-year increase. On average, Indian travellers spend 8.6 nights in Los Angeles with research indicating sightseeing (95per cent), shopping (77per cent) and art galleries & museums (37per cent) as top preference.

    The destination aims to grow its share of visitors from India and will undertake continued trade and consumer marketing initiatives throughout 2019 to include thematic familiarisation tours, trainings and more.

    Los Angeles Tourism unveils new look for discoverlosangeles.com

    MUMBAI: The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board unveiled the new look for discoverlosangeles.com on the back of twelve month long planning, research and development. Built by the tourism’s digital team, the mobile-first design ensures faster response, enhanced search and better accessibility.

    Some of the most talented writers and photographers in the LA area have been tapped by the tourism to create a fun, robust library of content, ranging from guides on hidden neighborhood gems to favorite beaches by playlist and places to visit based on astrological signs. Newly created content will focus on the rise of the millennial parent, neighborhood experiences and quick-read guides throughout the coming months.

    “We know that the previous version of our site was one of the highest trafficked tourism sites in the United States of America and we look forward to serving travelers’ needs with our latest mobile-first version, which is packed with user-friendly attributes,” Los Angeles Tourism digital marketing vice president Bill Karz said.

    Other highlights of the site include interactive maps, personalisation, events-calender, multi-lingual feature. The interactive maps allow site visitors an in-depth look at LA’s distinct neighborhoods while f the events calendar is a ‘go-to’ source for events in the city.
