    Mona Jain quits Vivaki Exchange

    MUMBAI: When Lodestar UM and Cheil won the Samsung account, no one could have guessed that it would lead to Mona Jain putting down her papers from Vivaki Exchange.

    The brand’s account was earlier with Starcom MediaVest Group which it lost out to the IPG Mediabrand’s agency Lodestar UM in a multi-agency pitch.

    When indiantelevision.com contacted the CEO of the media agency, she was unavailable for comment. Jain was promoted to the position in 2011. Prior to that, she was the chief operating officer of the agency.

    Sources in the industry have confirmed the news and feel that it was kind of expected as the agency lost out to major clients in the recent past.

    Jain has more than two decades of experience in marketing communications. Over the years, she has worked with agencies such as Hindustan Thompson, Contract Advertising, Mudra Communications, ZenithOptimedia and Cheil Communications. She also has the experience of being on the ‘client side’ with short stints at Glaxo SmithKline.

  • Rajit Desai joins Mindshare as partner – consulting

    Mumbai: Mindshare has strengthened its consulting and analytics discipline in the west with the appointment of Rajit Desai as partner – mindshare consulting.

    In his new role, Desai will actively contribute towards developing and restructuring Mindshare‘s business consulting offering for clients in west region.

    He will be reporting to the Mindshare consulting and analytics head of practice Sandeep Pandey.

    In his last stint, Desai served as the VP and head of Lab center (research and strategy hub) at Lodestar UM.

    Pandey said, “Our nature of work requires people from strong consulting and business strategy profile and Rajit has a combination of both. It is part of our larger talent restructuring within consulting discipline and you will hear soon about many senior profiles joining from different industries.”

    Desai said, “This exciting role is a logical next step for me. I see this as a big opportunity and I look forward to help address client‘s marketing and business problems and grow the practice along with the high quality team at Mindshare.”

    Having worked in the marketing vertical and as media consultant for various companies like HTA, Sony, Times Now, Loadstar, Media e2e and Turner Broadcasting, Desai comes with 16 years of work experience in the media function.

  • Shashi Sinha to take charge of IPG Mediabrands India as Lynn de Souza quits

    MUMBAI: A major change is taking place at IPG Mediabrands India. Shashi Sinha, the CEO of Lodestar UM, is taking charge as CEO of IPG Mediabrands India in a newly created post while Lynn D‘Souza is quitting the company to become a social entrepreneur.

    As part of the new arrangement, Initiative, BPN, Reprise and the Outdoor company will all now report to Sinha. He will also continue to function in his old role as Lodestar UM CEO.

    In a related development, D‘Souza, who has been serving as the chairman and CEO of Lintas Media Group, will be leaving IPG Mediabrands at the end of November. She will announce the launch of a pioneering new initiative for the development sector in early 2013. She is an old hat at Lintas, having joined the agency in 1995 to set up Initiative Media.

    “We want to take this opportunity to recognise another IPG veteran, Lynn de Souza. Lynn, Chairman and CEO of Lintas Media Group
     and an active participant in the non-profit space for several years, has expressed her desire to become a social entrepreneur. She will announce the launch of a pioneering new initiative for the development sector in early 2013, and will be leaving IPG Mediabrands at the end of November,” IPG said in a statement.

    The formation of IPG Mediabrands in March this year saw IPG leveraging its number two position with more than 17 per cent share of the Indian media market. In addition to the momentum gained by the three media agencies – Lodestar UM, Initiative and BPN – this period also saw the strengthening of the digital offering, Reprise – a joint venture with India’s largest digital independent, Interactive Avenues.

    Magna Intelligence was launched to further improve the group’s buying capabilities and IPG Mediabrands also brought its unique consumer panels to the market. With more than 16000 contacts in India alone, the consumer panels fuel proprietary tools such as Matrix.

    As IPG Mediabrands India enters the next growth phase, the agency‘s forward motion will continue with the launch of IPG Mediabrands Analytics, and the renewed focus and energy on the IPG Mediabrands outdoor business.

    Sinha, an IPG veteran of over 20 years, has rapidly expanded and developed Lodestar UM over the past six years, led the way for the foundation of many new offerings in the market, and has remained actively engaged in various industry forums. Currently, he is also the President of The Advertising Club.

  • ZenithOptimedia wins Jabong.com’s media biz

    MUMBAI: ZenithOptimedia has won the media mandate of e-comerce portal Jabong.com.

    The account win is on the back of multi-agency pitch that saw participation of incumbent agency Mindshare, Madison Media, Lodestar UM and ZenithOptimedia.

    The business will be handled out of the agency‘s Delhi office.

    ZenithOptimedia managing partner Navin Khemka said, “Yes, we have won the account. We will be handling entire media planning and buying portfolio of Jabong including lots of consumer insight and research.”

    Lodestar UM wins LoyaltyOne and DSP BlackRock media biz

    MUMBAI: Lodestar UM has bagged the media duties for Alliance data group‘s LoyaltyOne and financial services brand DSP Blackrock following a multi-agency pitch.

    Lodestar UM COO Nandini Dias confirmed the development to Indiantelevision.

    “LoyaltyOne is one of the largest loyalty programme and has 90 per cent market share in some countries. They needed someone who understand shopper sciences, retail market and will be able to marry media knowledge to get excellent RoI. Considering this space is not well developed in India, it will be exciting as in a way we will set trends and benchmarks in the category. We are truly looking forward to help them grow their presence in India,” Dias said.

    LoyaltyOne is a part of Alliance Data Company, which is one of the leading providers of loyalty and marketing solutions. It is a global provider of loyalty strategy and programmes, customer analytics and relationship marketing services. They are available in Canada, South America and Asia Pacific markets.

    On winning the DSP BlackRock business, she said, “All financial clients will require partners who will be able to advise them in the current tough times. And financial sector is going through a far tougher challenge than most other categories. Due to our unusual thinking and out of box work in print we won the account of DSP Blackrock.”

    DSP BlackRock Investment Managers is premier asset management company in India. It is a joint venture between the DSP Group and BlackRock.
