And this is one of those cases so it’s been amazing.”

  • Navot Papushado on collaborating with Michelle Yeoh for Gunpowder Milkshake

Navot Papushado on collaborating with Michelle Yeoh for Gunpowder Milkshake

Mumbai: Oscar winners are just built differently! Lionsgate Play is all set to stream Gunpowder Milkshake on 22 September. With a stellar star cast in tow, including two Oscar winners, the film sees Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett and Carla Gugino as highly trained assassins. When Sam is faced with the consequences of a high-risk job going wrong, she reunites with her mother to save an innocent eight-year-old’s life. Packed with action, thrill, and guns, Gunpowder Milkshake puts some of the best showrunners on the front lines. So get ready to cheer on this fierce group of slightly unethical ladies!

Talking about working with Michelle Yeoh, director Navot Papushoda said, “We really worked the actors hard, but they just wanted more. I remember the day Michelle came on set. Everyone was in awe of Michelle. A lot of the action scenes were inspired by her before we even knew she was going to do the film, so it was like we were getting a visit from the queen. You don’t cast Michelle Yeoh just to hold guns, although she does that too. We gave her chains and had her use her fists in fight scenes. She’s incredible, she jumps from a balcony after strangling someone with the chains, lands perfectly and flicks one of his teeth out of her hair. She trained with the stunt people who are her biggest fans. She brought so much experience and really enriched the movie in ways we did not anticipate.”

Gunpowder Milkshake to stream exclusively on Lionsgate Play from September 22nd.

Joel Kinnaman discusses his character and Nicholas Cage in ‘Sympathy for the Devil’

Mumbai: This devil is definitely not in disguise! Sympathy for the Devil is all set to make its digital premiere exclusively on Lionsgate Play in India on 29 September. Bringing Nicolas Cage and Joel Kinnaman in brand new avatars, the film follows an innocent taxi ride, taking an unexpected turn when the passenger holds the driver at gunpoint. A serious case of ‘there’s always more than meets the eye’, this thriller uncovers the characters’ secrets in a mind-boggling chain of events. With Nick Cage and Joel Kinnaman at their emphatic best, Sympathy for the Devil is directed by Yuval Adler and will leave you wanting more.

Talking about the film, Joel Kinneman said, “Sympathy for the Devil is the psychological cat-and-mouse game between the driver and the passenger. I play the driver, Nicolas Cage plays the passenger. The Passenger has a lot of anger built up. He’s out to get the driver but we don’t really know why and we don’t know what’s going on but he kidnaps him in the beginning of the film and over the course of the film we get to watch this game unspool. It’s almost like a cinematic theater play because it’s me and him throughout the whole journey.”

Continuing about his experience, he said, “I’ve done a lot of theater and of course, you’re on stage for hours sometimes and there’s like a concentration that builds between you and there’s this logic that performers understand. And to get to do that with Nick Cage was a career highlight.”

Stay tuned for the thrill of a lifetime with Sympathy For The Devil streaming exclusively on Lionsgate Play this 29 September.

So yes, his job is to inspect the rig and make sure that everything’s running safely.”

  • Hopefully, it’s a movie that kids love: Josh Lucas on Lionsgate’s Black Demon

Hopefully, it’s a movie that kids love: Josh Lucas on Lionsgate’s Black Demon

Mumbai: Family fun with a twist! Lionsgate Play exclusively brings to your screens, the shark-venture of the season, Black Demon starring the dashing Josh Lucas in the lead. Threatening Josh and his family though, is an ancient curse, placed by Angry Gods. This curse spares none, as the lonesome Megalodon that circles the oil rig of El Diamante, attacks anyone that gets close, bringing down nature’s wrath upon them. This Lionsgate Play thriller starring Fernanda Urrejola, Julio Cesar Cedillo, and Venus Ariel alongside Josh Lucas is set to premiere exclusively on 8 September.

Talking about Black Demon and his reason for making it, actor Josh Lucas said, “The Black Demon is a classic action-adventure shark story. And without a doubt, one of the things I think that makes it special is that it’s got a very family at its core, a young family at its core. So hopefully, it’s a movie that kids love. It’s a movie that hopefully parents will love. I partly made this movie because I have a nine-year-old boy who loves these kinds of movies.”

The actor further drew parallels with the classic Jurassic Park franchise and said, “We saw Jurassic Park movies a few days before I got this script. The first scene – in that one of them is Megalodon, right? And so in this movie, we have a giant Megalodon shark, an ancient shark, who’s haunting the movie and has been sort of cursed on this oil rig in this part of the land by an angry God. And it’s a very amazing story of, you know, nature versus man versus environmental problems that we’re all facing all kinds of colliding together, hopefully in a really fun action film.. a really fun kind of scary action film.“

The Black Demon is coming to your screens exclusively on Lionsgate Play on 8 September.

Nimrod Antal calls Matthew Modine and Liam Neeson ‘two kings of the craft’

Mumbai: It’s do or die! Lionsgate’s action packed Retribution starring the iconic Liam Neeson released in Indian theaters on 25 August. Directed by Nimrod Antal, this high-octane thriller follows Matt Turner in a cat and mouse chase when an anonymous caller threatens to blow up his family. Retribution also sees Matthew Modine, Jack Champion and Embeth Davidtz in pivotal roles.

Talking about working with Liam Neeson and Matthew Modine, director Antal said, “We are talking about two men that I have been a fan of before I ever had an opportunity to be a colleague. They say you don’t want to meet your heroes, but, you know, sometimes you do. With Matthew and Liam, there’s an incredible warmth between them, but you’re also dealing with two kings of the craft. It’s pretty magical for me. When I have people of this caliber, it elevates my game and makes me very conscientious when it comes to my role. These guys really do hear what directors are saying. So I’m always very cautious as to what I’m saying.”

Helmed by Nimrod Antal, Lionsgate and PVRINOX Pictures released Retribution in India on 25 August 2023.
