    Mumbai: Madison Media, a unit of Madison World, is happy to announce the appointment of Rohin Desai as the chief client officer – Media Buying. He will be reporting to Madison Media CEO- Investments, Vinay Hegde

    Desai’s illustrious career spans several leading organizations, including GroupM, Lintas Media Group, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, and Enterr10 Television, where he served as Head of Revenue and Sales Strategy. He previously worked at Madison Media from August 2013 to May 2016, managing a diverse set of clients such as Pidilite, Piramal, Raymond, CEAT, Bluestar, and McDonald’s. He also led media buying for ITC at a national level at Madison. Rohin’s expertise lies in crafting and executing integrated media buying strategies that have driven exceptional success for top-tier clients, including Unilever. His career highlights include managing cross-channel media strategies across various sectors such as FMCG, Telecom, E-commerce, BFSI, Automobile, and Retail. His impressive client roster features industry giants like Snapdeal, Aditya Birla Group, Tata, Colgate, Vodafone, McDonald’s, Raymond, Pidilite, CEAT, and Bluestar. Rohin holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing and Finance from IES Management College and Research Centre.

    Vinit Kumar named as Madison Media Plus VP

    Mumbai: Madison Media on Monday announced the appointment of Vinit Kumar as vice president of Madison Media Plus. Based in Delhi, Kumar will report to Madison Media Plus COO Abhik Banerjee.

    Kumar has over 16 years of experience in facets of media ranging from integrated marketing communications, strategy, digital marketing and analytics. Prior to joining Madison, he worked with Zenith Media, Mindshare, Lintas Media Group and HCL. 

    This will be Kumar’s second stint with Madison. Previously, he served as general manager in the agency’s Delhi and Kolkata offices handling ITC, according to the statement.

    “We are glad to have Vinit back on board. Having worked for various FMCG segments, he brings a wealth of experience to Madison. I am confident that we will be able to take our Delhi office to the next level with new business and continue to delight the existing clients,” said Abhik Banerjee.

  • MediaCom gets Soumit Deb as business director – Investments

    MUMBAI: Mediacom, the GroupM and Madison Media joint venture agency, has appointed Soumit Deb as head of Investments – South.

    In his new role, Deb will be reporting to Mediacom head of South Sriram Sharma.

    Deb has joined Mediacom from Starcom MediaVest Group where he was working as business director.

    Prior to joining SMG, Deb had also worked with Lintas Media Group, Mindshare, Mediacom Sri Lanka, MPG and Lodestar.

  • Havas Media appoints Abhishek Jain to head buying for west

    MUMBAI: Media conglomerate Havas Media India has appointed Abhishek Jain as Havas Media India senior vice president investments.

    Jain‘s skill will go a long way in delivering a better client experience, added Havas Media India executive director west Kunal Jamuar who he will be reporting in to.

    He will head buying for the west, with the buying and operations team reporting in to him. Prior to joining Havas Media, he was with Lintas Media Group managing buying for Maruti and Sony.

    Havas Media Group India and South Asia CEO Anita Nayyar said, “We already have an established presence in the West with cross-industry clients and are looking to further expand our footprint. Abhishek‘s talent will bring additional, innovative and value offerings to our clients and the region.”

  • Shashi Sinha to take charge of IPG Mediabrands India as Lynn de Souza quits

    MUMBAI: A major change is taking place at IPG Mediabrands India. Shashi Sinha, the CEO of Lodestar UM, is taking charge as CEO of IPG Mediabrands India in a newly created post while Lynn D‘Souza is quitting the company to become a social entrepreneur.

    As part of the new arrangement, Initiative, BPN, Reprise and the Outdoor company will all now report to Sinha. He will also continue to function in his old role as Lodestar UM CEO.

    In a related development, D‘Souza, who has been serving as the chairman and CEO of Lintas Media Group, will be leaving IPG Mediabrands at the end of November. She will announce the launch of a pioneering new initiative for the development sector in early 2013. She is an old hat at Lintas, having joined the agency in 1995 to set up Initiative Media.

    “We want to take this opportunity to recognise another IPG veteran, Lynn de Souza. Lynn, Chairman and CEO of Lintas Media Group
     and an active participant in the non-profit space for several years, has expressed her desire to become a social entrepreneur. She will announce the launch of a pioneering new initiative for the development sector in early 2013, and will be leaving IPG Mediabrands at the end of November,” IPG said in a statement.

    The formation of IPG Mediabrands in March this year saw IPG leveraging its number two position with more than 17 per cent share of the Indian media market. In addition to the momentum gained by the three media agencies – Lodestar UM, Initiative and BPN – this period also saw the strengthening of the digital offering, Reprise – a joint venture with India’s largest digital independent, Interactive Avenues.

    Magna Intelligence was launched to further improve the group’s buying capabilities and IPG Mediabrands also brought its unique consumer panels to the market. With more than 16000 contacts in India alone, the consumer panels fuel proprietary tools such as Matrix.

    As IPG Mediabrands India enters the next growth phase, the agency‘s forward motion will continue with the launch of IPG Mediabrands Analytics, and the renewed focus and energy on the IPG Mediabrands outdoor business.

    Sinha, an IPG veteran of over 20 years, has rapidly expanded and developed Lodestar UM over the past six years, led the way for the foundation of many new offerings in the market, and has remained actively engaged in various industry forums. Currently, he is also the President of The Advertising Club.

  • IPG launches third media agency network BPN in India

    MUMBAI: IPG Mediabrands has launched its third media agency network in India, in line with its strategy of operating across 14 countries.

    Titled Brand Programming Network (BPN), it will be under the Lintas Media Group (LMG) umbrella.

    Ending months of speculation on what Suresh Balakrishnan‘s designation will be at LMG, the agency has named him as the CEO of BPN.

    The other two media agencies of IPG Mediabrands in India are Lodestar UM and Lintas Initiative.

    BPN will operate in 14 countries around the world, including North America, Scandinavia, Latin America and Europe. It has a start up billing of over $900 million, the agency said.

    The new agency will be focusing on promoting brand health and success in this social and consumer driven media landscape. It will handle clients like Jyothy-Henkel, Bajaj Auto, Samsonite, and other clients of LMG to start up with a billing volume of over Rs 10 billion in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Cochin.

    Lintas Media Group chairman and CEO Lynn de Souza said, “For media agencies thus far, the starting point has always been the advertiser. Consolidation, portfolio management and aggregation are all client focused and to some extent consumer data driven. BPN will focus on the brand. The time has come to turn back several chapters and make the brand the hero of all communication effort, and BPN has developed processes to do just that.”

    The agency is already pitching for large MNC brands and has recently acquired Henkel in Mumbai, Yepme.com in Delhi, OCL in Kolkata, and Jayalakshmi Silks accounts in Cochin.

  • LMG to handle Yepme’s media duties worth Rs 300 mn

    MUMBAI: Yepme, the online fashion brand, has awarded its media planning and buying duties to Lintas Media Group.

    The account size is estimated at Rs 300 million annually, according to the company.

    The agency‘s responsibility is to build saliency for the brand and encourage a change in shopping habits for apparel and accessories.

    Lintas Media Group‘s Suresh Balakrishna said “Yepme will go a long way in adding a young and futuristic character to the portfolio of brands that we work with. Fashion and E-tailing are both growth areas of the future and their media needs are extremely dynamic.     MUMBAI: Carat India has appointed Himanka Das as senior vice president west. He will report to Carat India managing director Kartik Iyer.

    Das has an experience of eight years with Lintas Media Group as vice president working across diverse geographies.

    Iyer commented, “I have had the opportunity of working with Himanka in the past when he has proven himself to be a great team leader and we are delighted to have him with us. This, combined with his strong background in strategic planning will be a great asset to Carat Media in India and he will definitely play a pivotal role in this growth phase of Carat.”

    LMG bags Jayalakshmi Silks‘ media biz

    MUMBAI: Lintas Media Group has won the media mandate of Kochi-based readymade textile retailer Jayalakshmi Silks.

    The account is pegged at Rs 200 million. A local media agency was handling the account prior to this.

    LMG‘s Suresh Balakrishna said, “Vidya Nandakumar has just taken over as the head of the Kochi office and we have won Jayalakshmi Silks. We are delighted to win this business and along with Manappuram, which is an existing account in Kochi, makes us a serious player in the Kerala market.”

    Jayalakshmi Silks managing partner Govind Kamath added, “The retail market in Kerala is extremely vibrant especially in the textile and jewellery categories. We too have been growing and expanding at a healthy pace. In the last 18 months, apart from our Kochi outlet which is more than 50 years old, we have opened outlets in Calicut and Thiruvanthapuram and are opening our largest outlet in Trichur in April.”

    “We realised that in order to help us in the expansion process we need large, credible, partners with international pedigree,” Kamath added.

    Changes in key leadership at LMG

    MUMBAI: Lintas Media Group has announced promotions at the Mumbai, Kolkata and Cochin offices. Also, Himank Das, Joydeep Raha and S Muthukumarasamy, who head the Karishma Initiative, LMG Bangalore and Chennai offices respectively, have put in their papers.

    Confirming the news to indiantelevision.com, LMG‘s yet-to-be named brand agency CEO Suresh Balakrishna said, “Yes, the exits of Joydeep, Muthu (Cochi), and Himanks are confirmed. We are in the process of restructuring and as a result some of these were planned exits and some due to some change in HR strategy.”

    Mahesh Motwani has been promoted to executive vice president of the Kolkatta office and will develop new markets as well while Premjeet Sodhi has taken over as COO at LMG.

    Patrick Gomes has been elevated to head of the agency‘s Mumbai business. Having been at LMG for the past one and a half years heading prestigious financial accounts and the Bajaj Group, Gomes has a total of 14 years experience. He was previously with Starcom, Mediacom, TME, Madison.

    Dhirendra Singh who has been with LMG since eight years now has been promoted to head of planning for the Mumbai Office. He has been overseeing planning for accounts like UBI, Jyothy Laboratories, Bombay Dyeing etc and now takes on a larger responsibility for the entire office.

    Also, Vidya Nandakumar has returned to the agency as head of Cochin office and has taken charge of Manappuram and other businesses. She has come in from Madison, Bangalore and has over 12 years of experience in the industry, handling businesses like Britannia Industries Ltd., ITC Ltd., Hewlett Packard, and Muthoot Finance.
