LinkedIn launches new campaign ‘Kyonki Linkedin Ab Hindi Mein Bhi’

Mumbai Global professional network, LinkedIn has launched a new brand campaign to support the launch of Hindi language on the platform. With the tagline, ‘ab hongi kaam ki baaten Hindi mein, kyonki Linkedin ab hindi mein bhi,’ the campaign highlights how everyday conversations in the world of work can now take place in the language on LinkedIn. Hindi is the first Indian regional language, and the 25th language globally, to launch on the network.

Conceptualised and executed by The Glitch, the creative is inspired from barakhadi, which goes back to the popular trope of learning the Hindi alphabet in school. The campaign marries visuals from the learning rubric of Hindi alphabets and connects it with familiar situations in the world of work to showcase the moments of belonging that communicating in Hindi creates.

Bollywood actors Vidya Balan and Pankaj Tripathi have been enlisted to support the launch of the campaign as the ‘voice’ of LinkedIn in Hindi. The two audio spots encourage Indian professionals to celebrate their everyday work moments in the regional language. The spots are being aired on radio stations across all metros and tier 1 cities of Hindi speaking markets and also across leading audio streaming platforms including Jio Saavn, Gaana, and Spotify.

“To celebrate the launch of LinkedIn in Hindi, we wanted to create a campaign that would build a strong audio and visual association between the Hindi alphabet and workplace scenarios. Ergo, we chose key visual mediums to help people see these Hindi words representing cultural and professional scenarios, and key audio channels with high-profile voiceovers that would help them hear these words — a collective of which helps us effectively land the message that LinkedIn is now available in Hindi as well,” said The Glitch creative director Lucille Pereira.

The barakhadi inspiration has been brought to life further with an eye-catching print creative that brings the concept to the modern day in a professional context. The full page print ads will go live from 17 December 2021 across Hindi speaking newspapers. The barakhadi illustration has been designed by local artist Sugandha Bansal from IndieFolio.

“Hindi is spoken by nearly 44 per cent of the Indian population today, and with the introduction of the language on LinkedIn, we hope to foster an even deeper sense of belonging for Hindi speaking professionals in the workplace. Our goal is to bring down language barriers for Hindi speaking professionals on LinkedIn, so more professionals and customers can unlock greater value through content, jobs, and networking, and express themselves in a language that they are comfortable with,” said LinkedIn Asia Pacific head of brand marketing Sivaram Parameswaran.

The creative will be featured in out-of-home (OOH) across Mumbai and Delhi covering key commuter locations such as corporate hubs, airport media, metro trains, and busy arterial roads. The integrated, full-funnel campaign will be running across digital, outdoor, radio, audio, and print media.

  • LinkedIn says ‘Namaste,’ launches in Hindi

LinkedIn says ‘Namaste,’ launches in Hindi

Mumbai:  Professional network LinkedIn has marked a new milestone with the launch of Hindi, the first Indian regional language on the platform, with the goal to support 600 million Hindi language speakers globally.

With this launch, LinkedIn aims to break down language barriers, providing greater access to professional and networking opportunities to Hindi speakers in India and around the world. With the launch of Hindi, the networking platform now supports 25 languages globally, said the statement.

Starting 2 December, as part of the first phase roll-out of LinkedIn in Hindi, members will be able to access their feed, profile, jobs, messaging, and create content in the language on desktop, and on their Android and iOS phones, the company announced.

As the next step, LinkedIn will work towards widening the range of job opportunities available for Hindi-speaking professionals across industries, including more banking, and government jobs. The platform will also continue to add more Hindi publishers and creators in the coming weeks to boost member engagement and conversations in the language.

India is a core market for growth at LinkedIn and the second-largest market in terms of members after the US, accounting for 82 million members as part of a global community of 800 million members. India’s member base has grown by 20+ million in the past three years (15 per cent year-over-year growth) and it has witnessed a spike in engagement and conversations on the platform since the pandemic.

“In India, LinkedIn has been mission-critical to helping people connect, learn, grow, and get hired during the pandemic and in this new world of work we are in. With the launch of Hindi, now more members and customers can unlock greater value from the platform through content, jobs, and networking, and express themselves in a language that they feel comfortable in,” said LinkedIn India Country Manager Ashutosh Gupta.

“We have witnessed high engagement and member growth in the last year, and it is at this exciting inflection point that we are strengthening our vision to create economic opportunity for ‘every’ member of the workforce, and taking down language barriers for Hindi speakers across the world,” he added.

LinkedIn in Hindi is now available to all members globally on desktop and Android, and will gradually roll out to all iOS users in the coming days, the company stated.

With the launch of Hindi, members also have the advantage of creating their LinkedIn profile in Hindi and making it easier for Hindi-speaking members and recruiters to find them for relevant opportunities. To display their existing profile in Hindi, members will need to create a secondary language profile in the same language as their existing profile. This will prompt them to choose a preferred language for their existing profile from a drop-down list of 25 languages, which now includes Hindi.

The launch of LinkedIn in Hindi saw LinkedIn Influencers such as international life coach Gaur Gopal Das, monk-turned-entrepreneur Dr Vivek Bindra, and nearbuy.com founder Ankur Warikoo share their first Hindi posts on their LinkedIn profiles.

  • LinkedIn urges professionals to hit ‘pause’ with new #FindTheBalance campaign

LinkedIn urges professionals to hit ‘pause’ with new #FindTheBalance campaign

Mumbai: Online professional network LinkedIn has tied hands with digital creative agency The Glitch to launch the second phase of the #FindTheBalance campaign that provokes honest conversations about the realities of working from home and the struggle of finding work-life balance amid the pandemic. The new creative films spotlight the importance of well-being in today’s remote hustle culture by encouraging professionals to hit pause and strike the right balance between work and life in the new world of work.

In the second phase of the campaign, the three films take a deeper look at the lives of the characters introduced in the first #FindTheBalance film and present three 35-second films that depict the lives of professionals Vedika, Andrew and Gaurav, who struggle to keep up with work-from-home challenges.

Conceptualised and executed by The Glitch, the second phase of the campaign comes as an extension of its first phase, which sparked honest conversations about the realities of working from home amid the pandemic across India.

“Professionals in India are grappling with burnout at this time, and our Future of Work perception study also finds that today professionals value work-life balance (52 per cent) even more than job security (50 per cent),” said LinkedIn APAC head of brand marketing Sivaram Parameswaran. “The #FindTheBalance brand campaign is a reminder for our members to hit pause, reconnect with their family, friends, and colleagues, and find a new idea of balance.”

These films are also being supported by a social media campaign across LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter that encourages professionals to rewrite motivational quotes to make them more relatable for the post-pandemic world of work that professionals find themselves in today.

“What I love about this campaign is the mirror it holds up to our lives. In the last 1.5 years, working from home gave us so many new perspectives,” The Glitch creative director Lucille Pereira said. “It showed us how to make time for family, or carve out time for self, whether it’s doing things we love or just a quiet coffee & sunset session. Whatever it means to you, however you do it, this campaign is a beautiful reminder to #FindTheBalance.”

With six million engagements on Facebook alone, the first phase of the campaign resonated with the Indian workforce aching to discuss issues of burnout and an increasingly toxic hustle culture.

“The world around us has changed and many of us have experienced the blurring of our professional and personal lives. This film aims to showcase this very relatable narrative — the monotony that has become part of our everyday. Our hope is that it leaves professionals with the message of how we are all in this together, and as we navigate these unprecedented times it is important to remember to find our own unique version of balance,” The Glitch associate business director Riya Lalchandani stated.

Professionals in India are also taking to LinkedIn to spark conversations, and share tips and learnings about how they can #FindTheBalance to beat the pandemic blues.

The three films are now live on LinkedIn and other digital channels including YouTube.

  • Hiring in India picks up 35% from April to June: LinkedIn

Hiring in India picks up 35% from April to June: LinkedIn

NEW DELHI: While the world continues to navigate different stages of the coronavirus, LinkedIn’s Economic Graph team has been closely monitoring the pandemic's disruptive impact across the global labour market. These findings are crystallised into the LinkedIn ‘Labour Market Update’, which highlights the hiring rate in India, overall hiring sentiment across industries, competition for securing jobs, and the top jobs and skills in demand. Findings show that there has been a significant hiring rebound as the country started 'unlocking' and more people returned to work. However, the pace of these gains are expected to slow down given the continued economic uncertainty.

    1.    Between early-April to end-June, hiring increased by 35 percentage points: In India, hiring declines reached a low of below -50 per cent year-on-year in April, before starting to slowly recover.  The hiring sentiment stands at -15 per cent year-on-year as of the end of June. As risks of second-wave of infections emerge, some states have imposed lockdown measures again. Given this uncertainty, the recovery is expected to remain fairly flat in the coming weeks.

*The analysis looks at the year-on-year changes in hiring rate, which is a measure of hires divided by LinkedIn membership. The analysis was conducted for the period of 11th Feb to 30th June 2020.

    https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/UJEQeFBpQrqFpBxyl5pER9CeO9Hr4kgLWAw9emRm9MUWdG3l5AVgS5c68oewT35mMDP_uEwtLxmULaAGLfCIxm55YK2UUk8DSBvRk5bXjIOC55eWCB-6DJpby1ZDVpzYQ7ADM0A

Data also suggests that the gap between hires for males and females has narrowed from about 40 percentage points in February to around 30 percentage points in June.

This trend is observed across all sectors except for Manufacturing, Finance and Software & IT.

    2.            Competition for jobs is heating up: Competition for jobs has doubled compared to 6 months ago, with the average number of applications per job posted on LinkedIn increasing from around 90 in Jan 2020, to 180 in June 2020.

    3.            Recreation & Travel and Retail professionals are more likely to look for jobs in a different sector, compared to the pre-COVID period: Compared to the pre-COVID period, data suggests that job seekers who are currently in the affected sectors (such as recreation & travel) are 6.8 times* more likely to look for jobs in a different sector, compared to pre-COVID times. Data further suggest that those in the retail sector are 2.4 times* likely to apply for a job in a different sector. The analysis looks at how job seekers in different industries are adapting to changes and adjusting their jobs search strategy.

*The measure here calculates the likelihood that a member in a certain sector has applied for a job in a sector different to their own in June 2020 (post-COVID) compared to June 2019 (pre-COVID). A score of 2 here would suggest that a member in Industry A is twice as likely to apply to a job in an industry outside of Industry A.

    4.            The demand for disruptive skills tops the charts in June 2020: The Labour Market Update also highlights roles that are in demand today and are expected to remain relevant in the near future. These roles have the greatest number of job openings on LinkedIn, have seen steady growth over the past four years, pay a liveable wage, and require skills that can be learned online.
