    Star Plus maintains lead; Ind vs Sri T20 brings back DD National in Top 10

    MUMBAI: Star Plus continues to rule the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) genre even after witnessing a dip in ratings. While the India – Sri Lanka T20 match helped DD National to make a comeback in the top 10 channels, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data of week 6. 

    Star Plus saw fall in ratings but was perched in the numero uno position with 711158 (‘000s) as against 724223 (‘000s) in week 5. Second in line Colors also shed some ratings but managed to secure its slot with 689432 (‘000s) as against 713106 (‘000s) in the previous week. 

    Zee Networks’ Hindi entertainment channel Zee TV bagged the third slot with an increase in ratings at 686349 (‘000s) followed by Zee’s free to air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol on fourth spot with 669828 (‘000s) and Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav at number five with 437543 (‘000s). 

    Life OK fell to the sixth spot from five and scored 437228 (‘000s) whereas Sony Pal climbed up at number seven from its last week’s ninth position with 397413 (‘000s). Sony Entertainment Television stood at number eight with 349537 (‘000s) while its sister channel Sab exited the list. 

    DD National came back in the top ten channels in Hindi GECs and grabbed the ninth slot with 348202 (‘000s) followed by Rishtey in the tenth slot with 343724 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: The flagship Hindi general entertainment channels of Star India, Viacom18 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises have maintained their place in the top three slots in the genre in week 5 as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data in HSM (U+R) : NCCS All : 4+ Individuals.

     

    While Star Plus retained its numero uno position with an increase in ratings at 724223 (‘000s) in week 5, Colors also witnessed a spike in ratings with 713106 (‘000s) and managed to hold on to its second position. On the other hand, while witnessing a drop in ratings from last week, Zee TV held on to its third position with 684106 (‘000s).

     

    Zee Network’s free-to-air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol too saw a drop in ratings from last week but held on to its position in the fourth spot with 540883 (‘000s).

     

    Life OK climbed up the charts from its place in the eight position last week to perch on the fifth spot with 425211 (‘000s) in week 5, while Star Utsav with 355093 (‘000s) was down one spot to stand in the sixth place with a considerable fall in ratings from last week’s 487280 (‘000s).

     

    Sony Entertainment Television with 338638 (‘000s) and its sister channel Sab with 334730 (‘000s) were in the seventh and eighth position respectively. On the other hand, Sony Pal with 330874 (‘000s) was in the ninth place.

     

    Rishtey with 289121 (‘000s) saw a massive drop in ratings from last week’s 416858 (‘000s) and fell to the tenth spot from its erstwhile seventh position.

    On the other hand, Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus also continued to hold its place in the second spot with 773808 (‘000s) in week 5 as compared to last week’s 763739 (‘000s).

     

    Colors, which had dropped down to the third position in week 4, held its spot with 756373 (‘000s) and also saw an increase in ratings from last week’s 745916 (‘000s).

     

    Witnessing a drop in ratings from last week, both Zee TV with 736837 (‘000s) and its FTA sister channel Zee Anmol with 541811 (‘000s) managed to retain their positions in the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

     

    Climbing up the charts this week was ETV Telugu with 448885 (‘000s), which came up to the sixth position in week 5 as compared to last week’s eighth place.

     

    Rising up to the seventh place this week was Life OK with 440315 (‘000s) from its ninth spot in week 4.

     

    New entrants in the Top 10 channels list across genres in week 5 were movie channels Zee Cinema with 432528 (‘000s) in the eighth spot and Star Gold with 416222 (‘000s) in the ninth place.

     

    Sony Max, which was in the seventh place in week 4 dropped to the bottom of the list at number 10 in week 5 with 390616 (‘000s) and also witnessed considerable drop in ratings from last week’s 468771 (‘000s).

     

    Bowing out from the charts in week 5 were Star Utsav and Sony Pal, which were in the sixth and tenth slot respectively in week 4.

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s (ZEEL) Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) &TV is all set to launch an ambitious show titled Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai produced by Nivedita Basu’s House of Originals. The show, which is slated to go on air from 7 March will air from Monday – Friday at 8 pm.

    According to information available with Indiantelevision.com, Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai will be replacing Saubhaghyalakshmi, which will go off air 4 March as it reaches its logical end. Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms Ltd, the show was launched a year back on 2 March, 2015.

    The channel’s new show Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai marks the television debut of Bollywood actress Amrita Rao, who portrays the character of Kalyani, whereas Aditi Vasudev will be seen as her younger sister Ketaki.

    Stalwarts like Deepti Naval and Zarina Wahab have been roped in to play the older versions of the two sisters along with Pallavi Joshi, who will be seen making a comeback on TV.

    Meri Awaaz Hi Pechaan Hai will be a finite series and will showcase the musical journey of two sisters – Kalyani and Ketaki – who also happen to be arch-rivals.

    Speaking about the new show, &TV business head Rajesh Iyer said, “At &TV it has been our constant endeavour to present differentiated concepts and Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai is in line with this promise. The concept, an untold story set against the backdrop of music, brings in freshness both in terms of storytelling and execution. Moreover, the show brings together a powerhouse of talent from Bollywood and Television adding to the gamut of faces on TV.”

    & TV’s new offering Meri Awaaz Hi Pechan Hai will be pitched against Zee TV’s Tashan-e-ishq, one of Colors’ longest running shows Balika Vadhu, Star Plus’ mythological show Siya Ke Ram, Sony TV’s Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman, Life OK’s Jaane Kya Hoga Rama Re and Sab TV’s Bal Veer in the 8 pm time slot.

    Star Gold, which had exited the Top 10 channels’ list  across genres in week 2, made a comeback again this week.

     

    Sun TV garnered the first position with 1020877 (‘000s) as against 1125134 (‘000s) in week 2 followed by Colors in the second position with 746629 (‘000s), whereas Star Plus with 735363 (‘000s) secured the third slot.

    MUMBAI: Even as Sun TV continued to maintain its leadership position across genres, the first week of 2016 saw a new entrant in the Top 10 channels in Star Gold. The first week also saw Maa TV exiting the list according Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India ratings.

     

    With a rise in ratings, Sun TV was in the first spot with 1101158 (‘000s) as against 1031406 (‘000s) in week 52. On the other hand, Colors with 803402 (‘000s) and Star Plus with 757880 (‘000s) secured second and third slot respectively in the top 10 channels’ list across genres.

     

    Fourth in the tally was Zee TV with 732448 (‘000s), which was followed by its sister FTA channel Zee Anmol in the fifth spot with 720485 (‘000s). Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav grabbed the sixth spot with 464414 (‘000s), whereas Sony Max with 444596 (‘000s), Life OK with 435218 (‘000s) and ETV Telugu with 430665(‘000s) bagged the seventh, eighth and ninth berths respectively.

     

    Star Gold made its entry in top ten list with 400438 (‘000s) at the tenth position.
