    Channel [V] Chinese Music Awards completes a decade

    MUMBAI: The 10th Channel [V] Chinese Music Awards celebrated its decade-long dedication to promoting excellence in Chinese music at the Shanghai Stadium on 8 January.

    Top-billing artists from Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong and more than 8,000 music lovers were present at the event.

    More than 20 accolades were awarded to the best in the music industry. For Hong Kong/Taiwan, Wang Lee-hom and Chang A-Mei took the coveted Best Male and Best Female Artists awards while Piau Shu and Han Hong were named Mainland China’s Best Male and Female Artists.

    As part of the 10th anniversary celebration, three special awards were presented to recognise contributions to the development of Chinese music. Hong Kong diva Faye Wong was presented with The Distinguished Award for winning the most trophies over the years at the awards. The Most Recommendable Album Award went to Eason Chan’s Black, White and Gray album while The Panel Special Awards went to artists Liu Huan, Liao Chang Yong, Wang Hong Wei, Lu Wei and Li Han.

    The star-studded Channel [V] Chinese Music Awards event kicked off with artists and guests making grand red-carpet entrance. Performing guests included Irish pop star Ronan Keating, Faye Wong, Eason Chan, Beyond, Alex To, Harlem Yu, George Lam, Sally Yeh, Black Panther and many more. Actors Chang Chen, Shu Qi, Liu Ye and director Mabel Cheung were among the presenting guests.

    The awards were jointly presented by Channel [V], China Central Television (CCTV) and The Shanghai Media Group and were sponsored by presenting sponsor Matsushita Mobile Communications Company, associate sponsors M-zone of China Mobile, Beijing Huiyuan Beverage and Food Group Co. Ltd. and Kao Commercial (Shanghai) Co. Ltd; and official sponsors M&M’s Chocolate and Maestro of C-BONS Group, said a company release.

    The awards will be broadcast on Channel [V] Mainland China, CCTV, other local networks in Mainland China and Xing Kong.
