  • LG launches G1800 GSM handset in India

    BANGALORE: LG Electronics India Pvt. Limited (LGEIL), the fifth largest mobile maker in the world, has announced the launch of its new model of GSM handsets G1800 in India. With the launch of this product, the company aims to strengthen its product portfolio in the GSM market in India.
     
     
    G1800, a true bonanza for music lovers this phone comes with MP3 playback/MP3 ringtones and stereophonic headset kit. This phone is a stylish model with 262,000 Color LCD screen display for bright & sharp visuals. The special feature of G1800 is the built in USB Disk with 60 MB user memory space for storing any form of data or file. The phone also has a unique feature of USB charging.
     
     
    Other exciting features include Built in speaker, 64 polyphonic sound, 250 SMS memory, Embedded JAVA games and GPRS. Weighing a mere 78 gms, the phone has a standby time of up to 300 hrs and a talk time up to 2.5hrs and is priced at Rs 8900, says an official release.
     
     
    According to LGEIL Consumer Electronics and GSM head C M Singh, “G1800 with features like USB Disk, MP3 playback and MP3 ringtones would provide a good value proposition. We have introduced products at every price point in the market. We are constantly working on our mobile phones to enhance their features sufficing the needs of our customers.”

     

  • LG launches ‘futuristic’ home entertainment system

    BANGALORE: LG Electronics India Ltd. (LGEIL) has announced the launch of home entertainment solution LG “MyHomNet”. The range is targeted at the discerning buyer who appreciates the latest global trends and wants to be in sync with state-of-the-art products and leading-edge technology.

  • LG launches complete range of Notebooks

    BANGALORE: LG Electronics India Pvt. Limited has launched Notebooks ranging from Entry-level to the Premium segment, which includes nine models.
     

     
    They are: LM70, LS70, LW60, LW70, LW40, LU20, LT20 and GSC50. These latest offerings are in addition to LG’s wide range of products in the IT segment. The notebooks are priced between Rs 38,000 – Rs 115,000.

    The premium range of notebooks are wide-screen “Express series” which will redefine the usage experience. The models LW40, LW60 and LW70 are embodiments of state-of-the-art technology and are targeted at the performance and feature-conscious customers.

     
     
    The LW express series is equipped with Dothan CPU supporting 533MHz FSB, Mobile Intel 915 express chipset, Azalia 24bit audio, DDRII memory and Intel Wireless LAN as standard features. LW series also comes with 14.1″,15.4″and 17.1″wide screen options with the functionality of Remote Control and Instant-on function.

     
     
    The Tablet PC comes with Intel Centrino technology, dual quad-band antenna, state-of-the-art digital pen, 160° wide-view LCD viewing angle with ergonomic and stylish design powered by Microsoft WindowsXP Tablet PC Edition which enables hand writing recognition through the convenience of a stylus.

    The LT20 is targeted at mobile professionals with a sense of individual style. This model from LG has won the “Red-dot” design award.

    “Our focus has always been on new technology offerings suited to the needs of Indian consumers. With this launch we are trying to reach to the maximum number of people across segments. These notebooks boast of highest speed and power and also come in an ultra thin and light design with stylish slim bodylines, which adds artistic value to consumers’ taste. It is LG’s constant endeavor to bring out latest cutting edge technology products to the Indian market, said LGEIL general manager sales and marketing – IT products R Manikandan.

    McCann Erickson will handle the creatives of the products. The TVCs will showcase all the products from the computer division but the focus will be more on the Notebook range. However, no specific campaign has been planned as yet.

    The company is targeting the higher end segment customer and Manikandan is confident of boosting LG’s notebook sales count to 11,000 units by the end of 2005 and expects revenues from the Notebook stream to Rs 600 million.

    The LG Notebooks ads have already appeared in some magazines. The company plans to have below the line (BTL) activities to promote sales, which will include direct sales to corporate customers.

  • LG launches new flat screen TV models in India

    BANGALORE: With a view to retain and even grow their position, LG Electronics India (LGEIL) today announced launch of seven different models in the Flat screen segment covering LCD, Plasma and PDP at Bangalore.
     

     
    Currently the world’s largest seamless Plasma TV with a 71″ screen and a price tag of an even Rs.3 million was also showcased along with India’s first wireless LCD TV at 15″ and priced at Rs. 99,000.
    The other products launched were 15″, 20″, 23″, 26″, 37″ and 47″ LCD TV range, and the 40″ and 60″ PDP TV range. Improved picture quality and picture quality control along with improved audio are some of the features of most of the newly launched products, states an official release.

     
     
    The 71″ PDP is the first of its kind Seamless Single module Plasma Screen to be launched in the Indian consumer electronics market. This 71″ Plasma TV is equipped with XD engine to deliver unmatched visual brilliance through its high-resolution screen format of 1920*1080 pixels. This Product is specially designed for the niche market.
    The Wireless LCD television has a wireless connectivity of up to 50 meters, and a battery life of two hours. The screen is wirelessly connected to a transmitter box housed within 50 meters of the TV that sends waves to the portable screen. The LG Wireless TV is targeted at the tech savvy Indian consumer, the release adds.

     
     
    LG Electronics, president South West Asia and LGEIL MD K R Kim said, “With the launch of these hi-end display products, LGEIL has now become the only consumer electronics company to offer a complete portfolio of display solutions, from the smallest 15″ Inch portable television to the largest display available in the Indian market, spread across price point of Rs 39,000 to Rs 3 million.”

    LG plans to capture 50 per cent or 10,000 numbers by the end of 2005 and sell at least 20,000 in 2006 to retain this percentage of the Indian market that LG expects to double to 40,000 during this period. The growth drivers according to LGEIL product group head-NDPs, Prasanna Raghavan would be entry of the competition, demand increase because of improved technology of the offered products and lowered prices, which would be inevitable globally after Christmas during the first quarter of 2006 when stocks would have to refurbished.

    Creative for the flat screen is handled by Lintas, while Group M handles the media business. Initially promotional spends will be Rs.40 million for the new offerings and depending upon the outcome, additional spends would be considered after the end of the campaign in October revealed Raghavan.

    The campaign includes print and outdoor media along with TVCs which are being planned. O&M and McCann handle the creatives for the other products in the LG stable.

  • LG launches XPC series; ad-spends to jump

    BANGALORE: LG Electronics India Ltd. (LGEIL) has launched its XPC series of desktops in the price range of Rs.35,000 to Rs.50,000.

    XPC is a PC cum entertainment system, allowing live recording of TV programs added with provision for pause, rewind, edit and maintain video library for later viewing.

     

     
    The product comes with the latest Microsoft Media Center Edition (MCE) Operating System, designed to provide a true blend of computing and entertainment. In combination with MCE OS and high end processors like Intel’s LGA775 / AMD’s Athlon64, XPC offers leading edge features like high speed processing, access to media storage with remote, Personal Video Recording and multi-function.
    ‘Perform in style’ is LG’s new catch phrase for their XPO range.

     
     
    A company source says that approximately Rs 220 million would be pumped in for ad-campaigns from the PC and peripherals wing this year as against the Rs 120-130 million invested last year. TV commercials focusing LG as a PC company, with an emphasis on laptops and notebooks have been planned. LG intends to pour in more money to build up a brand image. The new commercials are likely to hit the tube by the end of this month.
     
     
    Creative and media for LG’s Pc products are being handled by McCann-Erickson, while Lintas are involved in brand building for TVC’s.

  • LG launches world’s slimmest flat TV

    MUMBAI: Electronics major LG has launched the world’s
    slimmest flat CRT TV — LG Super Slim TV. LG has currently introduced the model in 21” category. The 29” category will be introduced in Q2 ‘05.
     
     
    CM Singh Head of Consumer Electronics and GSM, LGEIL said, “We plan to target 200,000 units of Super Slim by the end of 2005.”
     
     
    “The unique Technology used for Super Slim TV is highly advanced with a new Picture Tube, which makes the TV slimmer by 20 per cent compared to any other Flat TV CPT. This unique benefit has been achieved through the following LG R&D initiatives:
