    Levi’s hands over media duties to OMD

    MUMBAI: Following a comprehensive market review, Levi’s has appointed OMD India to handle its media duties from its Bengaluru office.

    The appointment builds on the media network’s global relationship with the denim brand that started in 2009 and has grown to now include over 25 markets. In India, Madison Media was the incumbent on the account.

    The partnership will involve the use of both offline and digital channels as well as sophisticated uses of data to continue engaging Levi’s consumers in relevant and innovative ways.

    OMD India CEO Priti Murthy says, “This win reflects our agency’s momentum in South India and also the quality of our global network’s campaigns for the brand since 2009.     MUMBAI: Over the last two months Madison Media has won multiple businesses, including Hamilton (comprising Milton and Treo brands); Piramal Realty as well as celebrity lifestyle company USPL (comprising Wrogn and Imara) in Mumbai.

     

    In Bangalore, the agency has won the accounts of ilovediamonds.com and Phaneesh Murthy’s healthcare portal zigy.com. The agency has also won Delhi based shoe company Aerobok with the brand Aqualite.

     

    Commenting on winning new accounts, Madison World chairman and managing director Sam Balsara said, “I am delighted that we have won so many new accounts and it is heartening to know that many of these have been won without a pitch, based on our agency credentials.”

    MUMBAI: Contrary to reports that appeared in the media yesterday, Madison Media continues to handle the digital mandate for Airtel brand and media. The agency however does not handle “search marketing” for airtel.in.

     

    Madison Media Group CEO Gautam Kiyawat in a statement says: “Digital is a very important element within Madison Media and our attempt has been to offer clients a holistic media strategy encompassing all media to achieve their brand’s business objectives”.

     

    Madison Media today works with many marquee clients in the digital space including Airtel, Mondelez/Cadbury, Marico, Levis, Budweiser, Asian Paints, BJP, Raymond, Yatra.com, Fiama diWills, and many other clients. The agency has a strong 60 member digital team most of them embedded in large teams that handle the media accounts of large marquee clients.

     

    Madison Media has won several awards in the digital and mobile domain with the latest one being The Festival of Media Global Award and Asia Pacific Award for Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil for convincing consumers to become the brand’s sales force leveraging the power of Mobile.     MUMBAI: Karthik Lakshminarayan joins Madison Media as COO of Crest. In his new role, he will head the ITC AOR. He will be alternating between the Bangalore and Kolkata operations of ITC.

    Lakshminarayan comes with over 16 years of experience in media having worked in media agencies like Madison Media, Initiative Media and Starcom as well as with media channels like Colors and FoodFood. Across his career, he has worked on a large and diverse portfolio of brands like Godrej, Cadbury, Marico, Asian Paints, Bharti Axa, Infosys, Britannia, Titan, Heinz, Pillsbury and Hallmark amongst others.

    UK riots make Levi’s postpone ad launch

    MUMBAI: Levi‘s has temporarily postponed the launch of its first ever global campaign in the UK, saying that the visuals of the ad bizarrely resemble the images of current unrest in the country.


    The company said that the ad featured ‘risky‘ scenes of rioting and, hence, not appropriate to launch in Britain in the current point in time.


    Entitled ‘Levi‘s Legacy‘, the video was released on social networking site Facebook yesterday morning. But since then Levi‘s has decided against airing the ad on TV or in cinemas in the UK.


    The ad was shot during May Day in Berlin, and the crowd scenes are uncomfortably similar to rioting currently going on in the country.


    The American agency, Wieden & Kennedy, handled creative for the campaign, which also includes digital, print, outdoor and in-store media.
