  • Canara HSBC OBC TVC uses interactive storytelling to highlight online term plan

    MUMBAI: Private life insurance company Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance has launched a new television commercial (TVC) for its flagship online offering – iSelect Term Plan. The humorous yet informative TV commercial aims at informing people about the attractive premiums offered by the plan along with the imperatives of taking a life cover. iSelect Term plan is not only a flagship offering of the Company but currently is also one of the most lucrative online term plan available in the market across various age brackets.

    Designed and conceptualised by Leo Burnett, the commercial opens with a camera zooming into the sparkling eyes of a juggler who is shown flipping knives.

    Based on a situational comedy, the juggler is performing inside a cafe where the audience is seen overwhelmed by his performance. As part of the balancing stunt, he takes out his phone from his pocket and displays screen towards the crowd, while continuously juggling the knives with other hand. The crowd is stunned not by the act but by the premium rates offered by iSelect Term Plan which appears on the phone’ screen. Seeing the audience’s reaction the juggler turns the phone screen towards him and he is also amazed to see the offer. Shocked by the offer, he loses his concentration and the knife falls directly on his feet making him yell comically “Mummy”.

    The TVC ends unveiling the benefits and the message ending with “…..ye nahi lega toh beta bahut bada katega”.

    Canara HSBC OBC Life Insurance COO Shalabh Saxena said “Life insurance is an emotional decision as it is an effort by an individual to keep his family protected from uncertain risks of life. So an informed decision is a must. In line with this, our latest commercial aims to inform consumers about the significance of term insurance plan apart from the lower rates the iSelect Term Plan offers. The tone of advertisement is educative in a very entertaining way while still conveying the affordable premium rates offered by iSelect Term Plan”.

    Anup Viswanathan quits Sony Entertainment Television

    MUMBAI: The news of the New Year’s first high-profile exit from the television and entertainment industry just came in.

    Sony Entertainment Television (SET)’s senior vice-president – marketing  Anup Viswanathan has resigned. A source close to the development confirmed the news to Indiantelevision.com that he served his last day in the organisation on 13 January. 

    As of now, there is no replacement for Vishwanathan. For the time being, SET vice-president – marketing Aman Shrivastava would look after the duties and responsibilities of the former senior vice- president – marketing.

    Vishwanathan joined SET in September 2015 from Times Network where he worked as the marketing head for the English entertainment cluster. 

    Prior to joining Times Network, he worked with Leo Burnett for eight years.  He  worked on brands such as HDFC Life, Tata Capital, McDonald’s, Sony Entertainment Television, Sony Pix and AXN. While at Leo Burnett, he has also worked on the reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ which was telecast by Sony Entertainment Television.

    Indiantelevision.com reported in November 2015 that Vishwanathan was roped in as a part of the incumbent SET EVP and business head Danish Khan’s core team along with Anshuman Sinha and Ritesh Modi.

    MUMBAI: Leo Burnett announced Prashanth Challapalli as the chief integration officer for South Asia.

    In his new mandate, Challapalli will work with leaders across Publicis Communications to drive integration, and will report to Publicis Communications India CEO Saurabh Varma. His last stint was with iContract, where he was the executive vice president and digital head.

    At Leo Burnett, his key mandate predominantly includes operationalizing and scaling up Leo Burnett’s unique methodology, PLAY, which puts context at the heart of creating content. Prashanth will also be a key bridge between Publicis Communications and Publicis.Sapient, responsible for bringing the best of Publicis.Sapient to all clients.

    Varma said, “Prashanth will be key as we put digital at the core of our offering and increasingly create cutting edge ideas and stories which emanate from the product itself.”

    Added Prashanth, “I have always been a big believer in one brand, one consumer and one communication approach and most of the leaders at Publicis Communications are either ex-colleagues or friends for a long time.”

    MUMBAI: Publicis Communications has elevated the incumbent Leo Burnett South Asia CEO Saurabh Varma as the CEO of Publicis Communications India. Varma’s appointment comes on top of his existing responsibilities.

    To be based in Mumbai, Varma, as well other country leaders — Nakul Chopra and Praveen Kenneth, will continue reporting to Loris Nold, global COO of Publicis Communications, in charge of the APAC & MEA region. In the Indian sub-continent, Publicis Communications comprises Leo Burnett, Publicis India, Law & Kenneth | Saatchi & Saatchi, Orchard India, MSLGROUP, Publicis Ambience, Publicis Capital, Indigo iStrat and Publicis Beehive.

    MUMBAI: Bajaj V’s initiative titled ‘Invincible Indians: Stories that Invoke Pride Everyday’ will uncover stories of ordinary Indians who, by dint of their resolve and determination, performed extraordinary acts in the service of society.

    Five such ‘Invincible Indians’ were felicitated by a famous son of India who has himself made the nation proud – Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic Gold Medalist in the presence of Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj. Bajaj V also released five videos that capture the inspiring stories of these invincible people.

    Bindra said, “Many a time, such heroic acts go untold and these heroes fade away in the pages of history. I am truly proud to be associated with this endeavor and urge every Indian to come forward in supporting it..”

    Vijaylaxmi Sharma: Leading a movement to eradicate child marriages in villages in Rajasthan.

    Karimul Haque: Converted his bike into an ambulance. Offers a 24X7 ambulance service free of cost.

    MUMBAI: Leo Burnett India has bagged India’s sole gold at the 2016 edition of the Epica Awards for its ‘Reuniting Memories from 1947’ (Dastaan) campaign for OLX.

    Excited about the wins, Leo Burnett south Asia chief creative officer RajDeepak Das said, “When we realised that OLX is the no. 1 marketplace for used goods in India and Pakistan, we saw an opportunity to help people reunite with their priceless pre-Partition belongings and memories; we received thousands of stories from both sides in no time.”

    Additionally, its work for Bajaj V, ‘Sons of Vikrant’, too bagged a bronze. The Epica Awards celebrate work from advertising, design, media, PR and digital that has been chosen by renowned journalists from the marketing and communications fraternity, across the world.

    The work for OLX bagged the Gold under the ‘Native Advertising’ category, while Bajaj V’s campaign won for ‘Films & Series’.

    The wins have even played their part in helping Leo Burnett secure the coveted ‘Network of the Year’ title this year, by bagging 49 metals to its name including 12 gold.

    On the other hand BBDO New York claimed the agency of the year title with 19 wins which includes a gold.

    The Epica Awards were established in 1987, and is the only award that is judged by marketing and communications specialist journalists from over 60 publications, including magazines and websites, globally. The prize attracts entries from over 70 countries, each year. The ceremony was held in Amsterdam on 17 November.
