Laxmi illuminates Times Square with heartwarming Diwali campaign

Mumbai: With Diwali approaching, Laxmi, a South Asian brand in the US, launched a new commercial campaign in Times Square on 19 October. Featuring actors Noel Sean and Payal Radha Krishna, the ad captures the spirit of celebrating Diwali away from home.

The narrative follows an Indian couple living abroad, where the wife turns her husband’s homesickness into joy by inviting Indian students to join their celebration, centered around Laxmi’s authentic food. This story resonates with students celebrating Diwali away from their families and reinforces the brand’s promise: ‘Laxmi Hain Na’.

Founded in 1972 by GL Soni to bring authentic home-cooked flavors to the South Asian community, Laxmi began with essential grocery items and has expanded into a comprehensive food brand. In addition to its core products—Basmati rice, Atta, spices, dals, Sona Masoori, and other dry groceries—Laxmi now offers a wide range of convenience and frozen foods designed for South Asian consumers abroad, enabling them to enjoy authentic ethnic meals conveniently.

HOS Global Foods president Neil Soni and COO Amrapali Soni said, “For over 50 years, Laxmi has been essential in connecting the South Asian community with their culture and traditions through authentic ethnic foods. As we expand into convenience foods, our goal is to also cater to the student population living independently, allowing them to savor the flavors of home even when they’re away.

VP of marketing Suhasinee Patil stated, “Through this Diwali campaign, we reaffirm the message that Laxmi embodies the feeling of home for our community. For over 50 years, Laxmi has been an integral part of South Asian households, a partner in every celebration and the everyday moments of life. By embracing the spirit of Diwali, the new TVC seeks to honor this special season while reinforcing the bonds of love and unity that connect families and friends through food and tradition.”

This TVC will also be broadcast on major networks like Sony TV, Aapka Colours and distributed across digital platforms.

Zee Telugu launches new fiction show – Prema

MUMBAI: In-line with Zee Telugu’s recent brand refresh that encourages women to take an initial step to make big difference in their lives, the channel is launching a new fiction show called Prema. The story of an independent woman, Prema, who is the sole earning member of her family due to circumstances, has further obligations coming her way. The ownership that Prema exhibits for all challenges that come her way is the reason viewers are bound to be engrossed with the launch starting 5th November at 8 PM, only on Zee Telugu and ZeeTelugu HD.

Peter and Laxmi are a happily married pair with a 3-year old daughter. Unlike Laxmi, Peter hails from a poor family. Though being an inter-caste marriage, everything runs well until Peter and Laxmi lose their lives in an accident, leaving Peter’s sister, Prema in charge of their daughter. Prema (played the popular actor Princy, marking her first project with Zee) who aspires to become a singer, is the only breadwinner of her family and earns a living by singing in a church. Laxmi comes from a rich family with a step-mother (Indira) and a step-sister (Shivagni) who are the master-minds behind planning Laxmi’s death to own her property. Laxmi’s family misunderstand Prema for a thief and defame her in a family event due to Prema’s alcoholic father’s habit of embezzlement. Having his doubts on Prema, Laxmi’s brother, Pranay (played by Nirupam Paritala, who has worked in Gruhapravesam and Mooga Manasulu earlier) decides to take responsibility of the daughter, being unaware of Indira and Shivagni’s (played by Sravani, popularly known for her role as Samanya in America Ammayi) plan. Watch the story unfold as Prema and Pranay individually fight for the right to possession of the daughter against all family odds.

With the launch Prema, Na Kodalu Bangaram will be moved to 2:30 PM and Bava Maradallu will be telecast at 6:00 PM starting 5th November.

  • Zeel chairman Subhash Chandra takes Rajya Sabha oath

Zeel chairman Subhash Chandra takes Rajya Sabha oath

MUMBAI: 3 August 2016. The day the GST Bill was approved by the upper house of the Indian parliament will be a special day for Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd chairman Dr Subhash Chandra. That is the day when the media industry pioneer took his oath as member of the Rajya Sabha, his first steps into politics.

For Chandra, it has been a long journey to the corridors of power. While he has – with the help of his younger brothers, Jawahar, Laxmi and Ashok and the next generation of the family – built up an empire (encompassing media and entertainment, manufacturing, precious metals, infrastructure, real estate) which does billions of dollars of annual revenue, he says the time has come for him to give back to India.

Of course, he and his organisations are involved in several spiritual and charitable causes, like the Buddhist Pagoda outside Mumbai, but he would now like to make a difference through governance, by entering the government.

Speaking to reporters outside parliament yesterday he said: “I have done a great deal of business in my life – from the young age of 17 years until 65 years. I thought the time has come to give back to the society and as an MP, I can perhaps help lakhs of people by raising important issues and coaxing different parties to come together as I have good relations with all.”

He is quite optimistic about the government’s initiatives in recent times and going forward. While applauding the passage of the GST bill, he however, had a note of caution, saying that it would not be a panacea for all the ills facing the economy and businesses. He expressed confidence in the Narendra Modi government’s ability to push through other tax reforms which would give business a further push, that would only further help Indian citizens courtesy the trickle down effect.

He stated that he would be first working towards bettering the state of Haryana. “I will be inviting all 90 MLAs for dinner soon and request them to tell me whatever they have in mind for Haryana’s benefit,” he said. “My hallmark has been to raise issues that are often neglected by others. I’ll keep at it

Media observers are hoping that the midas touch that has helped him turn almost everything he touches into success, will serve him well as he begins his journey into politics.
