    Zee Anmol again most watched Hindi channel across genres

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd's (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol was ranked second, as in the previous week,  in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 46 of 2018 (Saturday, 10 November 2018 to Friday, 16 November 2018). At its usual place at first rank in BARC’s weekly list for week 46 of 2018 was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV. Hence, Zee Anmol was the most watched Hindi channel, be it Hindi GEC or Hindi movies during the week under review.

    Seven Hindi GECs and one channel each from the Hindi movies, Tamil and Telugu channels made up BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 46 of 2018. From the network’s perspective, as has also become a norm, there were four channels from Star India, two channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 46 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 935.190 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,116.456 million weekly impressions in week 45 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and four programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second place was Zee Anmol in week 46 of 2018. The channel scored 775.164 million weekly impressions as compared to 815.684 million weekly impressions in week 45. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked ninth in HSM (U). The Balaji Telefilms produced soap Kumkum Bhagya was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R).  Another two programmes aired on the channel – Mahek was ranked third  and Ek Main Aur Ek Tu was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s pay-TV channel Star Bharat climbed up to third rank in week 46 of 2017 from seventh rank in the previous week. The channel scored 722.909 million weekly impressions in week 46 as compared to 668.070 million weekly impressions in week 45. Star Bharat was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), fourth in HSM (R) and was ranked fifth in HSM (U). The Hindi mythology Radhakrishn on the channel was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GECs programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R).

    Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus retained its previous week’s fourth rank in week 46 of 2018 with 696.102 million impressions as compared to 683.120 million weekly impressions in week 45. Star Plus was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U) and ninth in HSM (R). The 4 Lion Films soap Kulfi Kumar Bajewala aired on Star Plus was present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U) at fourth rank.

    Zee TV climbed up a place in week 46 of 2018 to fifth rank as compared to sixth place in week 45. Zee TV scored 694.459 million weekly impressions in week 46 of 2018 as compared to 681.144 million weekly impressions in week 45. Zee TV was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), seventh in HSM (R), and fourth in HSM (U) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fourth and third ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and third and second respectively in HSM (U).

    Dropping three places to sixth rank in week 46 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa with 679.864 million weekly impressions as compared with 693.071 million weekly impressions in week 45. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Five programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in the same market.

    Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Utsav dropped two places to seventh rank in week 46 of 2018 with 678.124 million weekly impressions as compared to 681.541 weekly impressions in week 45. Star Utsav was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), and in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).

    SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal re-entered BARC’s across genres list in week 46 of 2018 with 664.2681.54159 million weekly impressions. Sony Pal was ranked seventh in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah on Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Max dropped one place to rank nine in week 46 of 2018 with 644.646 million weekly impressions as compared to 630.586 million weekly impressions in week 45. Sony Max was ranked first in BARC’s weekly lists of top 5 Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R), and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R). The Hindi Feature Films (HFF)  – World Television Premier or WTP Raj Mahal 4,  HFF-Sooryavansham

    WTP-HFF-Nawabzaadev and HFF-DJ were ranked second, third, fourth and fifth respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U).

    Dropping down a rank was Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors in week 46 of 2018 with 642.486 million weekly impressions as compared to 621.799 million weekly impressions in week 45. Colors was ranked seventh, tenth and third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) respectively. The Balaji Telefilms produced third season of the supernatural drama Naagin 3 was ranked first in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U).

    Zee TV gets ratings boost from Zee Rishtey Awards

    MUMBAI: Zee TV's recently concluded annual awards property, Zee Rishtey Awards, clocked the highest viewership ratings across award shows that took place in the last two years. As per the recently released BARC HSM weekly data (Urban + Rural) for the week 44 '18, it secured a viewership of 5495 TVTs, which is the highest across awards shows in the category.

    The company attributeed the award show and its fiction shows for the increase in ratings. The Zee Rishtey award was presented by Dabur Almond Hair Oil, co-powered by Nerolac Paints, Brooke Bond Red Label and Himalaya Anti- Hairfall Shampoo; special partner Dixcy Scott, Jewellery partner Malabar Gold and Diamonds; partnered by Parle Milano.

    Zee TV business head Aparna Bhosle said, “The success of our prime-time fiction shows stands testimony to the strengthening of our relationship with our audiences.     Along with the success of Zee Rishtey Awards, three out of five weekday top fiction shows (Urban numbers) are from Zee TV – Kundali Bhagya with 7674 TVTs, Kumkum Bhagya with 6374 TVTs and Ishq Subhan Allah with 5700 TVTs. Zee TV has also been a consistent slot leader at 7 pm (Yeh Teri Galiyaan), 8 pm (Guddan… Tumse Na Ho Paega), 9:30 pm (Kundali Bhagya) and 10:30 pm (Aapke Aa Jaane Se) at HSM – (Urban + Rural) in the last four weeks- wk 41 to wk 44’18.

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd's (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol was back to second rank in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India’s (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 45 of 2018 (Saturday, 3 November 2018 to Friday, 9 November 2018, week under review). Zee Anmol was ranked third in week 44 of 2018, just behind its older sibling channel Zee TV. At its normal first rank was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV. Hence, Zee Anmol topped all Hindi channels – be they Hindi GEC or Hindi movies.

    Six Hindi GECs, two Hindi movies channels and one channel each from the Tamil and the Telugu genres made up BARC’s weekly list of top channels across genres (across genres list) in week 45 of 2018. From the network’s perspective, BARC’s across genres list had four channels from Star India, two channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom 18.

    Climbing up to second place from third was Zee Anmol in week 45 of 2018. The channel scored 815.684 million weekly impressions as compared to 811.892 million weekly impressions in week 44. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked ninth in HSM (U). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya and another serial Mahek aired on Zee Anmol were ranked first and third in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and were ranked first and second respectively in HSM (R).

    Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa climbed up two ranks in week 45 of 2018 to third place with 693.071 million weekly impressions as compared with 718.981 million weekly impressions in week 44. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Five programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in the same market.

    Zee TV dropped down four places to sixth rank in week 45 of 2018 with 836.744 million weekly impressions in week 44 of 2018 as compared to second rank and 738.239 million weekly impressions in week 44. Zee TV was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), seventh in HSM (R), and fourth in HSM (U) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fifth and fourth ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and third and second respectively in HSM (U).

    SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Max climbed up a rank to eighth place in week 45 of 2018 with 673.586 million weekly impressions as compared to 593.077 million weekly impressions in week 44. Sony Max was ranked second in BARC’s weekly lists of top 5 Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R). The Hindi Feature Film (HFF) Bahubali 2 the Conclusion  was ranked third  and first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) respectively. Two more HFFs’ Sarrainodu and AAA were also present in BARC’s HSM (U) list for top 5 Hindi movies programmes.

    Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors also dropped a rank to ninth place in week 45 of 2018 with 621.799 million weekly impressions as compared to 635.465 million weekly impressions in week 44. Colors was ranked sixth, tenth and second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) respectively. Another HFF Sooryavansham was also among the top 5 Hindi movies programmes in HSM (R).

At its usual first rank in the list was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV.

    Four Star India channels, three channels from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN), two channels from Zeel and one channel from the Sun TV Network made up the BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 42 of 2018. From the genre’s perspective, there were six Hindi GECs, two Hindi Movies channels and one channel each from the Tamil and Telugu genres in BARC's list of top 10 channels across genres for week 42 of 2018.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 42 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 1,113.680 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,003.083 million weekly impressions in week 41 of 2018.     Retaining its previous week’s fifth rank was Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus with 746.713 million impressions as compared to 746.196 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Star Plus was ranked third in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U) and ninth in HSM (R). Director’s Kut Productions produced Hindi soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and 4 Lion Films soap Kulfi Kumar Bajewala aired on Star Plus were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U).

    Another Star India pay TV channel Star Bharat was ranked sixth in week 42 of 2018 with 700.507 million weekly impressions as compared to fourth rank and 756.584 million weekly impressions in week 41. Star Bharat was also ranked fourth, fourth  and fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) respectively.

    Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV dropped down a place to seventh rank in week 42 of 2018 with 694.988 million weekly impressions as compared to 722.309 million weekly impressions in week 41. Zee TV was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) eighth in HSM (R) and third in HSM (U) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fifth and fourth ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and fifth and second respectively in HSM (U).

    SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Wah re-entered the across genres list in week 42 of 2018 with 598.857 million weekly impressions at eighth rank. Sony Wah was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R).Three Hindi feature films (HFF) – –Rowdy Rathore, PK and Chirutha (Ram Charan) which featured on Sony Wah among the most watched Hindi Movie programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week at ranks third to fifth in HSM (U+R). Rowdy Rathore and Chirutha (Ram Charan) on Sony Wah were ranked first and third respectively in HSM (R).

    SPN’s flagship Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET) dropped down a rank to ninth place in BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genres in week 42 of 2018 with 597.466 million impressions as compared to 623.976 million weekly impressions in the previous week. SET was ranked seventh in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U).

    Another SPN Hindi movies channel – Sony Max also re-entered BARC’s across genres weekly list in week 42 of 2018 at tenth rank with 591.358 million weekly impressions. Sony Max was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (U) and fifth in HSM (R). HFF Bahubali – the Conclusion, which aired on the channel, was ranked second HSM(U+R) and HSM (U) in BARC’s list of   top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Another HFF – Tiger Zinda Hai was ranked fourth in HSM (U).

    BENGALURU: For the second consecutive week in a row, the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC and Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa were the only non-Hindi GEC channels in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genre. The other eight channels in BARC’s weekly across genres list in week 41 0f 2018 (Saturday, 6 October 2018 to Friday, 12 October 2018) were all Hindi GECs. Besides the two South Indian languages channels, BARC’s weekly list normally had at least one channel from the Hindi movies genre in the past. During important sports events such as the Indian Premier League or IPL, at least one Hindi channel that aired sports was also present in BARC’s across genres lists.

    The same channels that were present in BARC’s across genres weekly list in week 40 were present in the week 41 of 2018 list, but with a change in order of ranking. Like last week, from the network’s perspective, there were four channels from Star India, two channels each from SPN and Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 41 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 1,003.083 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,048.662 million weekly impressions in week 40 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and the first four of the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

Zee Anmol was also ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets lists or HSM (U+R), first in rural HSM or HSM (R) and was ranked ninth in HSM (U). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked second in HSM (R).

    BENGALURU: Star India’s free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Star Utsav was ranked second in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres for week 40 of 2018 (Saturday, 29 September 2018 to Friday, 5 October 2018, week under review). Star Utsav was preceded by the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV which was at first rank. After quite a long while, there were no Hindi movies channels in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres during the week under review. Also all the flagship Hindi GEC channels of the four major networks – Star India, Sony Pictures Network India (SPN), Viacom18 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) were present in BARC’s across genres list for week 40 of 2018.

    Eight Hindi GECs and one channel each from the Tamil and Telugu genres were present in BARC’s weekly across genres list in week 40 of 2018. From the network’s perspective, there were four channels from Star India – something that is becoming another norm, two channels each from SPN and Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 40 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 1,048.662million weekly impressions as compared to 1,020.107 million weekly impressions in week 39 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all of the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

Of the four Star India channels in the across genres list, three were Hindi GECs of which two were free to air (FTA) and one was a Telugu GEC. At its usual first rank was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV followed by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol at second rank.

    Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV also saw a steep drop to tenth place in week 39 of 2018 with 645.325 million weekly impressions as compared to 657.866 million weekly impressions in week 37. At its usual first rank was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV followed by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol at second rank. Consequently, Zee Anmol was the most watched Hindi channel and Colors the second most watched Hindi channel across genres, be it Hindi GEC or Hindi movies in week 38 of 2018 (week under review or consideration). It was also the most watched Hindi pay-TV channel during week 38 of 2018.

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GECs Zee Anmol and flagship Zee TV were once again ranked second and third in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres for week 37 of 2018 (Saturday, 8 September 2018 to Friday, 14 September 2018). Viacom 18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors returned to BARC’s across genres list at rank seven during the week under consideration. The channel has been present for 27 of the first 37 weeks of 2017in BARC’s across genres list. Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa also re-entered BARC’s across genres list at rank six in week 37 of 2018. Star Maa was present for 29 of first 37 weeks of 2018 in BARC’s across genres lislts. Since Sun TV occupied its normal rank one, Zee Anmol and Zee TV topped Hindi channels – GEC as well as Hindi movies during week 37 of 2018.
    One channel each from the Hindi movies, Tamil and Telugu genres and seven Hindi GECs were present in BARC’s across genres list for week 37 of 2018. From the networks’ perspective, as has become almost the norm, there were once again four channels from the Star India network in the list. There were two channels each from Zeel and Sony Pictures Network India (SPN), and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.
    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 37 was the Tamil GEC Sun TV with 1,043.906 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,063.806 million weekly impressions in week 36 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all of the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.
    Continuing at its second rank in week 37 of 2018 was Zee Anmol with 816.131 million weekly impressions as compared to 840.010 million weekly impressions in week 36. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked second in HSM (R).

    Also retaining its third place was Zee TV with 723.225 million weekly impressions as compared to 721.364 million weekly impressions in week 36. Zee TV was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), fourth in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kumkum Bhagya, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were at fourth and second ranks respectively in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). Kundali Bhagya on Zee TV was ranked fourth in HSM (R) during primetime.
    Star India’s FTA channel Star Utsav also retained its fourth rank in week 37 of 2018 with 695.203 million weekly impressions as compared to 669.262 million weekly impressions in week 36. Star Utsav was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U). The soap Rabba Ve aired on Star Utsav was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).
    Climbing up a rank to fifth place in week 37 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus with 682.419 million impressions as compared to 650.318 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Star Plus was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U) and tenth in HSM (R). Director’s Kut Productions produced Hindi soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai aired on Star Plus was ranked fifth in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked third in HSM (U).
    As mentioned above, Star India’s Telugu GEC Star Maa re-entered BARC’s across genres list in week 37 of 2018 with 668.179 million weekly impressions at rank six. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. The first four of the top five programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Also, as mentioned above, Colors re-entered the across genres list in week 37 of 2018 with 654.144 million weekly impressions at seventh rank. Colors was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (U) and ninth in HSM (R). The third season of the Balaji Telefilms produced supernatural drama Naagin 3 was among BARC’s top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). Further, the reality show Dance Deewane was ranked fifth among BARC’s top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).
    Dropping down three ranks to eighth rank was another Star India channel Star Bharat in week 37 of 2018 with 653.573 million weekly impressions as compared to fifth rank and 652.973 million weekly impressions in week 36. Star Bharat was ranked fifth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), in HSM (R) and in HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs during the week under review.
    Retaining its previous weeks ninth rank was SPN’s flagship Hindi GEC Sony Entertainment Television (SET). SET’s ratings in week 37 of 2018 were 629.656 million weekly impressions as compared to 625.080 million weekly impressions in week 36. SET was ranked eighth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels in HSM (U+R), and first in HSM (U).
    At tenth rank (same as in week 36) in week 37 of 2018 was SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Wah with 618.353.million weekly impressions as compared to 623.522 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Sony Wah was ranked first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and fifth in HSM (U). Hindi feature films (HFF) Sultan and Chirutha (Ram Charan) that featured on Sony Wah were among the top 5 most watched Hindi movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) for the week in BARC’s list in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R).

    Sony Max once again tops Hindi channels across genres

    BENGALURU: For the fifth time in this calendar year (CY 2018), Sony Pictures Network India Hindi movies channel Sony Max was ranked second in Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genre : All India (U+R) : 2+ individuals in week 35 of 2018 (Saturday, 25 August 2018 to Friday, 31 August 2018). The channel was earlier ranked second in weeks 28, 29, 30 and 31 of 2018 in BARC’s across genres lists. At its normal first place was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV. Hence, Sony Max was the most watched Hindi channel in week 35 of 2018.

    Six Hindi GECs, two Hindi movies channels and one channel each from the Tamil and Telugu genres made it to BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 35 of 2018. From the network’s perspective, as is also becoming a norm were four Star India channels, two channels each from SPN and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) and one channel each from Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, at its normal first rank in week 35 was theTamil GEC Sun TV with 999.006 million weekly impressions as compared to 1017.394 million weekly impressions in week 34 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and four of the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    Climbing up five ranks to second place in week 35 of 2018 was Sony Max with 721.447 million weekly impressions as compared to 664.337 million weekly impressions in week 34.  Sony Max was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi movies channels in the HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R).  Hindi feature film (HFF) Sarrianodu and the world television premier (WTP) of the Telugu feature dubbed into Hindi, A AA  on Sony Max were among BARC’s list of the top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R). Further, four HFF – Sarrianodu, A AA, DJ and Kanchana on Sony Max were also among BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime list in HSM (U).

    Climbing down a rank to third place in week 35 of 2018 was Zeel’s FTA Hindi GEC Zee Anmol with 701.762 million weekly impressions as compared to 807.267 million weekly impressions in week 34. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked  first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked third in HSM (R).

    Climbing up a rank to fourth rank in week 35 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star India with 687.926 million impressions as compared to 674.437 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Star Plus was ranked second in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Director’s Kut Productions-produced Hindi soap Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai aired on Star Plus was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U).

    Also climbing up a rank to fifth place in week 35 of 2018 was another SPN Hindi Movies channel Sony Wah with 669.499 million weekly impressions as compared to 667.474 million weekly impressions in week 34. Sony Wah was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R) and first in HSM (R) and fifth in HSM (U). Hindi feature film (HFF) Sooryavansham that featured on Sony Wah was among the top 5 most watched Hindi movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) for the week in BARC’s list in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R).One more HFF- Yevadu on Sony Wah was also on BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi movies programmes during primetime in HSM (R).

    Climbing down three ranks to sixth place in week 35 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa with 647.750 million weekly impressions as compared to third rank and 697.191 million weekly impressions in week 34. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Four of the five top programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Also climbing up a rank to seventh place was Star India’s Hindi GEC Star Bharat with 632,025 million weekly impressions as compared to eighth rank and 659.579 million weekly impressions in week 34. Star Bharat was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), sixth in HSM (R) and HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels during the week under review.

    Dropping down four ranks to eighth place in week 35 of 2018 was another Star India FTA Hindi GEC with 629.138 million weekly impressions as compared to 684.340 million weekly impressions in week 34. Star Utsav was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).
