    Zee Anmol back on top of Hindi channels in across genres

    BENGALURU: After a short hiatus, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol was back at number two rank in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of the top 10 channels across genres (across genres list) in week 32 of 2018 (Saturday, 4 August 2018 to Friday, 10 August 2018, week under review). At the first rank in BARC’s across genres list was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV. Like last week, two free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC, one flagship channel each from Hindi GEC and Telugu GEC genres from the Star India stable were also present in BARC’s across genres list for the week under review.

    Seven Hindi GECs and one channel each from the Hindi movies genre, Tamil GEC and Telugu GEC comprised BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels during the week under review. From the network’s perspective, besides the four Star India channels, there were two channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18 in the across genres list in week 32 of 2018.

    As is the norm, Sun TV led the across the genres list at first place in week 32 with 1,133.028 million weekly impressions as compared to 1,046.99 million weekly impressions in week 31 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second rank was Zee Anmol in week 32 of 2018 with 749.977 million weekly impressions as compared to 653.951 million weekly impressions in week 31. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking market – HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked fourth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus climbed up two ranks to third place in week 32 of 2018 with 726.112 million impressions as compared to 665.796 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Star Plus was ranked second in BARC’s weekly lists of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Director’s Kut Productions produced Hindi soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai aired on Star Plus was ranked fifth in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime  based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U).

    Retaining its fourth place in week 32 of 2018 was Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Utsav with 675.211 million weekly impressions as compared and 684.843 million weekly impressions in week 31. Star Utsav had re-entered BARC’s across genres list in week 29.  Star Utsav was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U). The soap Rabba Ve aired on Star Utsav was ranked third in BARC’s weekly in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    Also climbing up two ranks in week 32 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa at fifth place with 659.642 million weekly impressions as compared to 649.967 million weekly impressions in week 31. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. The first four of the top 5 programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Dropping down three ranks to sixth place was Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV with 657.079 million weekly impressions in week 32 of 2018 as compared to 702.128 million weekly impressions in week 31. Zee TV was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- The Balaji Telefilms produced Kumkum Bhagya, was ranked second, while its spinoff Kundali Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R)  in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV was also ranked third and Kundali Bhagya ranked fourth in HSM (U) in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    SPN’s Hindi Movies channel Sony Wah re-entered BARC’s across genres weekly at rank seven in week 32 of 2018 with 628.865 million weekly impressions. Sony Wah as ranked first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R), as well is in HSM (U). In HSM (R) Sony Wah was ranked fifth in the Hindi Movies genre. Hindi feature films (HFF) that featured on Sony Max – Rowdy Rathore and PK were among the top 5 most watched Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) for the week in BARC’s list in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). A third HFF- Yevadu on Sony Wah was also on BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime in HSM (R).

    Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors climbed up a rank to eighth place in week 32 of 2018 with 620.538 million weekly impressions as compared to eighth rank and 630.498 million weekly impressions in week 31. Colors was ranked seventh in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked second in HSM (U). Naagin 3  retained the top place in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R). Naagin 3 was ranked first and Dance Deewane was ranked fourth in HSM (U). Further, Naagin 3 was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s Hindi GEC Star Bharat was ranked ninth in week 32 of 2018 with 619.402 million weekly impressions compared to seventh rank and 645.100 million weekly impressions in week 30. Star Bharat was ranked sixth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels during the week under review.

    SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal retained its tenth rank in week 32 of 2018 with 618.547 million weekly impressions as compared to 585.975 million weekly impressions in week 30. Sony Pal was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), was ranked third in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah aired on Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    BENGALURU: Sony Pictures Network India’s (SPN) Hindi Movies channel Sony Max once again topped Hindi channels in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) list of top 10 channels across genres list (across genres list) for week 31 of 2018 (Saturday, 28 July 2018 to Friday, 3 August 2018, week or period under review). At rank number two, and the only Hindi Movies channel in the list, Sony Max headed all the eight Hindi language channels in the across genres list during the week. Two free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC, one flagship channel each from Hindi GEC and Telugu GEC genres from the Star India stable were also present in BARC’s across genres list for the week under review.

Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second place in week 31 of 2018 was Sony Max with 703.748 million weekly impressions as compared to 737.406 million weekly impressions in week 30. The channel was also the most watched channel in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking market – HSM (U+R), as well is in HSM (U). In HSM (R) Sony Max was ranked fifth in the Hindi Movies genre. Hindi feature films (HFF) that featured on Sony Max – Bahubali the Beginning and DJ were among the top 5 most watched Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) for the week in BARC’s list in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). A third HFF- Sooryavansham on Sony Max was also on BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U).

    Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV retained its third rank in the across genres list in week 31 of 2018 with higher ratings of 702.128 million weekly impressions as compared to 675.605 million weekly impressions in week 30. Zee TV was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- The Balaji Telefilms produced Kundali Bhagya, a spinoff of the Balaji Telefilms produced Kumkum Bhagya, was ranked second, Kumkum Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R)  in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Kundali Bhagya on Zee TV was also ranked second and Kumkum Bhagya ranked fourth in HSM (U) in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Star India’s FTA channel Star Utsav climbed up two ranks to fourth place in week 31 of 2018 with 684,843 million weekly impressions as compared to eighth place and 657.357 million weekly impressions in week 30. Five programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Another Star India FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat was ranked eighth in week 31 of 2018 with 645.100 million weekly impressions compared to seventh rank and 652.260 million weekly impressions in week 30. Star Bharat was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R); was ranked fifth in HSM (R) and was ranked sixth in HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels during the week under review.

    BENGALURU:  Zee Entertainment Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV was ranked third in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres (across genres list) in week 30 of 2018 (Saturday, 21st July 2018 to Friday, 27th July 2018, week or period under review). Preceding it were the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV at the pole position and Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) Hindi Movies channel at second rank. This made Zee TV the most watched Hindi GEC in week 30 of 2019. The channels in BARC’s weekly across genres list in week 30 were same as in week 29 of 2018 with some changes in the ranks.

    Like last week, there were eight Hindi channels and one channel each from the Tamil GEC and Telugu GEC genres in week 30 of 2018. Six of the Hindi channels were Hindi GEC and two were Hindi Movies channels. There were three channels each from Star India and SPN, two channels from Zeel and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18.

    As mentioned above, Sun TV led the across the genres list in week 30 with 1,048.709 million weekly impressions in week 30 as compared to 1,071.451 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second rank was Sony Max with 737.406 million weekly impressions in week 30 as compared to 746.904 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. The channel was also the most watched channel in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking market – HSM (U+R), as well is in HSM (U). In HSM (R) Sony Max was ranked fifth in the Hindi Movies genre. Hindi feature films (HFF) that featured on Sony Max –Tiger Zinda Hai led BARC’s top 5 most watched Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). Another HFF the Aamir Khan starring – PK was also among the top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime in HSM (U).

    Zee TV climbed up two ranks to third place in week 30 of 2018 with 675.605 million weekly impressions as compared to 649.355 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Zee TV was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kundali Bhagya, a spinoff of the Balaji Telefilms produced Kumkum Bhagya, was ranked second, Kumkum Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R)  and HSM (U) in BARC’s list of top 5 programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Kundali Bhagya on Zee TV was also ranked fifth in HSM (R) in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. In the HSM (U) market.

    At fourth rank in week 30 of 2018 was Zeel’s free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol with 674.957 million weekly impressions as compared to third rank and 717.589 million weekly impressions in week 29. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) as also in HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked  fourth in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked third in HSM (R).

    Star India’s Telugu GEC Star Maa was ranked fifth in week 30 of 2018 with 668.256 million weekly impressions as compared to fourth rank and 673.849 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Three programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Utsav moved up two ranks to sixth place in week 30 of 2018 with 657.357 million weekly impressions as compared to eighth place and 597.617 million weekly impressions in week 29. Star Utsav had re-entered BARC’s across genres list in week 29.  Star Utsav was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).

    Another Star India FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat was ranked seventh in week 30 with 652.260 million weekly impressions as compared to with 598.615 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Star Bharat was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R) was ranked fourth in HSM (R) and was ranked sixth in HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels during the week under review.

    Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors was ranked eighth in week 30 of 2018 with 632.232 million weekly impressions in week 30 of 2018 as compared to 636.700 million weekly impressions in week 29. Colors was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Naagin 3 found the top place in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U), while Naagin 3 was ranked fourth in HSM (R). Another programme on Colors – the reality show Dance Deewane was ranked fourth in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U).

    Retaining its previous week’s eight rank was SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal with 605.714 million weekly impressions in week 30 as compared to 590.263 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Sony Pal was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), was ranked third in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah aired on Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    Also at its previous week’s tenth rank was another SPN Hindi Movies channel Sony Wah with 600.781 million weekly impressions in week 30 as compared to 584.938 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018. Sony Wah was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (R) and fifth in HSM (U) during week 30 of 2018. HFF Kanchana 2 that aired on the channel was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R)  and was ranked first in HSM (R). Further, another HFF, Son of Satyamurthy was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    BENGALURU: Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) Hindi Movies channel Sony Max was ranked second in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 29 of 2018 (Saturday, 14 July 2018 to Friday, 20 July 2018, week udder review). Like during week 28, when it pipped Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol to second spot, Sony Max was the most watched Hindi channel during the week under review. The channel was also the most watched channel in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking market – HSM (U+R), as well is in HSM (U). In HSM (R) Sony Max was ranked fifth in the Hindi Movies genre.

    As is normal, the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV was ranked first in BARC’s weekly across genres lists in week 29 of 2018. The channel continued for to draw billion plus weekly impressions for the second week in a row.

    Six Hindi GEC, two Hindi Movies and one channel each form the Tamil GEC and Telugu GEC genres made up BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genres during week 29 of 2018. From the networks perspective, three channels each from SPN and Star India, two channels from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) and one channel each from the Sun TV Network Limited and Viacom 18 made up BARC’s across genres list for week 29 of 2018.

    Sun TV led the across the genres list in week 29 with 1,071.451 million weekly impressions as compared to 1051.589 million weekly impressions in week 28 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all the 5 programmes in BARC’s list of top 5 Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    Moving down one rank to fifth place was Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV with 649.355 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018 as compared to 614.840 weekly impressions in week 28. Zee TV was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), third in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kundali Bhagya, a spinoff of Kumkum Bhagya, was ranked second, Kumkum Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R) in BARC’s list of top 5 programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Kundali Bhagya was also ranked fifth in HSM (R) in BARC’s lists of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. In the HSM (U) market, Kundali Bhagya, Kumkum Bhagya and another soap Ishq Subhan Allah on Zee TV were ranked second, third and fifth respectively during the week under consideration

    Also retaining its previous week’s sixth place with 636.700 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018 as compared to 561.361 million weekly impressions in week 28 was Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors. Colors was ranked third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Naagin 3  found the top place in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U), while Naagin 3 was ranked fourth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat also climbed up a rank to seventh place with 598.615 million weekly impressions in week 29 of 2018 as compared to 548.708 million weekly impressions in week 28. Star Bharat was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R) was ranked fifth in HSM (R) and was ranked sixth in HSM (U) in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GEC channels during the week under review.

    Re-entering BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 29 of 2018 at eighth rank was another Star India FTA channel – Star Utsav with 597.617 million weekly impressions. Star Utsav was ranked sixth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), was ranked second in HSM (R) and was ranked eighth in HSM (U).

    Dropping down two ranks to ninth place in week 29 of 2018 was SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal with 590.263 million weekly impressions as compared to 555.366 million weekly impressions in week 28 of 2018. Sony Pal was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), was ranked third in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah aired on Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    At its previous week’s tenth rank was another SPN Hindi Movies channel Sony Wah with 584.938 million weekly impressions in week 29 as compared to 518.879 million weekly impressions in week 28 of 2018. Sony Wah was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (R) and fifth in HSM (U) during week 29 of 2018. HFF The Return of Rebel that aired on the channel was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R)  and was ranked first in HSM (R).

    BENGALURU: Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) Hindi movies channel Sony Max was ranked second in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genres (across genres list) for week 28 of 2018 (Saturday, 7 July 2018 to Friday, 13 July 2018, week or period under review). There were eight other Hindi channels in the across genres list in week 28 of 2018. This made Sony Max the most watched Hindi channel in BARC’s during the period under review. The channel was also the most watched channel in BARC’s list of top five Hindi movies channels in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking market – HSM (U+R), as well as in HSM (U). In HSM (R) Sony Max was ranked fifth.

    At its normal first rank (except during IPL and a couple of weeks when Zee Anmol got ahead) was the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV, which returned to the billion pus weekly impressions after a long hiatus from that threshold number.

    Six Hindi GEC, two Hindi movies and one Tamil GEC and Telugu GEC made up BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genres during week 28 of 2018. From the networks perspective, three channels each from SPN and Star India, two channels from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) and one channel each from the Sun TV Network Limited and Viacom 18 made up BARC’s across genres list for week 28 of 2018.

    As mentioned above, Sun TV led the across genres list in week 28 with 1051.589 million weekly impressions as compared to 947.652 million weekly impressions in week 27 of 2018. Sun TV also led BARC’s weekly list of top five Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry market and all the five programmes in BARC’s list of top five Tamil programmes during primetime in these markets based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week under review were aired on Sun TV.

    At second rank was Sony Max with 669.742 million weekly impressions in week 28 of 2018 as compared to fourth rank and 626.781 million weekly impressions. Two Hindi feature films (HFF) that featured on Sony Max – Bahubali 2 – The Conclusion and the world television premiere of HFF Mummy were among the top five most watched Hindi movies programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). The concluding part of S S Rajamouli’s magnum opus was also among the five most watched Hindi movies programmes during primetime in HSM (R) during the week under review.

    Moving down a rank to third place in week 28 was Zeel’s FTA Hindi GEC Zee Anmol with 653.296 million weekly impressions as compared to 700.502 million weekly impressions in week 27 of 2018. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) as also in HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked second in HSM (R) as in the previous few weeks.

    Also moving down one rank to fourth place was Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV with 614.840 weekly impressions in week 28 as compared to 652.386 million weekly impressions in week 27. As in the previous week Zee TV was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (U) and seventh in HSM (R) during the week. Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kundali Bhagya, a spinoff of Kumkum Bhagya, was ranked second and Kumkum Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R) in BARC’s list of top five programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. Kundali Bhagya was also ranked fifth in HSM (R) in BARC’s lists of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. In the HSM (U) market, Kundali Bhagya, Kumkum Bhagya and another soap Ishq Subhan Allah on Zee TV were ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively during the week under consideration.

    Climbing up a rank to fifth place in week 28 of 2018 was Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa with 572.455 million weekly impressions as compared to 565.462 million weekly impressions in week 27. Star Maa was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Three programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors dropped a rank in week 28 of 2018 to sixth place with 561.361 million weekly impressions as compared to 576.642 million weekly impressions in week 27. Colors was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Naagin 3  found a place in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U), while Naagin 3 was ranked fourth in HSM (R).

    SPN’s women focused FTA Hindi GEC retained its seventh rank in week 28 of 2018 with 555.366 million weekly impressions as compared to 555.128 million weekly impressions in week 27 of 2018. Sony Pal was ranked third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R), was ranked second in HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U).     Re-entering BARC’s weekly across genres list was Star India’s flagship Hindi GEC Star Plus at ninth rank with 522.935 million weekly impressions in week 28 of 2018. Star Plus was ranked third in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GEC in HSM (U).

    Dropping down a rank to tenth place was another SPN Hindi movies channel Star Wah with 518.879 million weekly impressions in week 28 as compared to 526.551 million weekly impressions in week 27 of 2018. Sony Wah was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (R) and fourth in HSM (U) during week 28 of 2018.     BENGALURU: There were three channels each from Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) and Star India in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) list of top 10 channels across list for week 27 of 2018 (Saturday, 30 June 2018 to Friday, 6 July 2018, week under review or consideration). Besides channels from these two networks, there were two channels from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) and one channel each from the Sun TV Network Ltd and Viacom18.

    From the genres perspective, six channels from the Hindi GEC genre, two channels from the Hindi movies genre and one channel each from the Tamil and Telugu genres made up BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres (across genres list) in week 27 of 2018.

    Following almost a set norm, (except during IPL weeks), the Sun Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV led the across the genres list in week 27 with 947.652 million weekly impressions as compared to 975.210 million weekly impressions. Another film, Sooryavansham was ranked fourth in HSM (U) in the same top programmes list.

Sony Wah was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R), first in HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (U). HFFs’ Rowdy Rathore and Yevadu from the channel were ranked second and fifth most watched Hindi movies programmes based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in the HSM (R) market.

Zeel’s free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol was ranked second and the network’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV was ranked second in across genres list for week 25 of 2018. Like in the previous week, the first rank in the list was held by the regular occupier of the slot – the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV.

    Behind Sun TV, Zee Anmol and Zee TV topped six Hindi GECs, two channels from the Telugu genre and one channel each from the Hindi movies and the Tamil genre in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres during the week under review. The first rank in the list was held by the regular occupier of the slot – the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV.

    At second place was Zee Anmol with 747.590 million weekly impressions in week 25 of 2018 as compared to 774.331 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking markets or HSM (U+R) as also in HSM (R). The Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya aired on Zee Anmol was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (R). Another soap from the channel, Mahek, was ranked second in HSM (R).

    Climbing up two places to third rank was Zee TV with 606.439 million weekly impressions in week 25 as compared to fifth rank and 587.742 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Zee TV was ranked third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R), second in HSM (U) and sixth in HSM (R). Two programmes that were aired on Zee TV- Kundali Bhagya, a spinoff of Kumkum Bhagya was ranked second and Kumkum Bhagya was ranked third in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). Kundali Bhagya was also ranked fourth in HSM (R) in BARC’s list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    At fourth rank was SPN’s women-focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal with 601.848 million weekly impressions in week 25 as compared to third rank and 619.539 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Sony Pal was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and was ranked seventh in HSM (U). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah aired on Sony Pal was ranked third in BARC’s list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    At fifth rank was SPN’s Hindi movies channel Sony Max with 597.083 million weekly impressions in week 25 as compared to 592.364 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Sony Max was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R). The Hindi feature film (HFF) Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that was aired on the channel was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top five Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R), while it was ranked second in HSM (U). Furthermore, the Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots was ranked the fifth most watched Hindi movies programme during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    Buoyed by the viewership of the third season of the Balaji Telefilms-produced Naagin and the dance show Dance Deewane was Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors at sixth rank with 580.417 million weekly impressions in week 25 as compared to seventh rank and 553.387 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Colors was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). Naagin 3 and Dance Deewane found places in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi GECs during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U), while Naagin 3 was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    At seventh place was Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat with 574.692 million weekly impressions in week 25 as compared to rank nine and 550.387 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Star Bharat was ranked fourth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    Star India’s flagship Telugu GEC Star Maa was ranked eighth with 520.024 million weekly impressions as compared to sixth rank and 575.135 million weekly impressions in week 24 of 2018. Star Maa was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Three programmes that were aired on Star Maa were present in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Zeel’s flagship Telugu GEC Zee Telugu re-entered BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genre at ninth rank with 519.127 million weekly impressions in week 25 of 2018. Zee Telugu was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana market. Two programmes that were aired on Zee Telugu were present in BARC’s weekly list of top five Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week.

    Another SPN Hindi movies channel Sony Wah completed BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genres in week 25 of 2018 at tenth rank with 512.431 million weekly impressions as compared to eighth rank and 551.261 million weekly impressions in week 24. Sony Wah was ranked second and fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi movies channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). HFF Sultan was ranked first in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). Two more films that were aired on the channel – Yevadu 2 and Dangerous Khiladi 4 were ranked second and fifth respectively in HSM (R).

    BENGALURU: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) free to air (FTA) Hindi general entertainment channel (Hindi GEC) Zee Anmol entered the bastions held by either the Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV or the channel that aired the Indian Premier League (IPL) in week 21 of 2018. Zee Anmol had then topped Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of the top 10 channels across genres, only to be overtaken by the normal occupant of the numero uno rank Sun TV in the following week. In week 23 of 2018 (Saturday, 2 June 2018 to Friday, 8 June 2018), the difference in the ratings between the top channel in the list, Sun TV, and Zee Anmol narrowed to just 1.073 million weekly impressions as compared to the normal difference between Sun TV and the second ranked channel of around 2-5 million weekly impressions in the previous year.  Of course, during IPL weeks, it was generally the channel that aired the world’s richest cricket league competition that was ranked first in BARC’s weekly across genres lists.

    Six Hindi GECs’, two Telugu GECs’ and one channel each from the Hindi Movies and the Tamil genres comprised BARC’s top 10 channels across genres list during the week under consideration. From the network’s perspective, three channels each from Star India and Zeel, two channels from Sony Pictures Network India and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom 18 made up BARC’s list of top 10 channels across genres in week 23 of 2018.

    As mentioned above, Sun TV topped BARC’s across genres weekly list with 807.338 million weekly impressions in week 23 of 2018 as compared to 856.341 million weekly impressions in the previous week. The channel also was ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Tamil channels in the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry markets and the first four programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week were aired on Sun TV in these markets.

    At second rank in BARC’s weekly across genres list was Zee Anmol with 806.265 million weekly impressions in the week under review as compared to 824.521 million weekly impressions in week 22 of 2018.     Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV climbed up a rank to fourth place with 634.961 million weekly impressions in week 23 of 2018 as compared to fifth rank and 624.069 million weekly impressions. Zee TV was ranked third in HSM (U+R) and second in HSM (U).  Kumkum Bhagya, which was aired on Zee TV, and its spinoff Kundali Bhagya were ranked second and fourth in HSM (U+R), Kumkum Bhagya was ranked fifth in HSM (R), while in HSM (U) three programes on the channel – the two Bhagyas’ and Ishq Subhan Allah were among BARC’s top 5 Hindi GEC programmes based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week. 

    SPN’s Hindi Movies channel Sony Max was ranked fifth in week 23 of 2018 with 592.577 million weekly impressions as compared to rank four and 664.599 million weekly impressions in week 22. Sony Max also topped BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R). In week 23 it was the airing of the first part of SS Rajamouli’s two film tale – Bahubali the beginning that helped the channel to its ranks in various BARC’s weekly lists including in the top 5 Hindi Movies programmes list based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R). Other films aired on the channel during the week under consideration that were among the top 5 programmes lists were Kanchana Returns and Sultan.

    The Balaji Telefilms produced supernatural seasonal soap Naagin has always catapulted Viacom18’s flagship Hindi GEC Colors to amongst the ranks in BARCs’ top channels and programmes charts. Colors re-entered BARC’s top 10 channels across genres list in week 23 of 2018 at rank six with 571.151 million weekly impressions. Colors was ranked fifth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked first in HSM (U). The third season of Naagin or Naagin 3 started in week 23. In the week of commencement itself, the programme entered BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in HSM (U+R), HSM (U) and HSM (R). Another offering from the channel, the reality show  Dance Deewane also entered BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U).

    Retaining its previous week’s seventh rank in week 23 of 2018 was Star India’s FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat with 559.746 million weekly impressions as compared to 540.519 million weekly impressions in week 22.  Star Bharat was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and ranked fifth in HSM (U) and HSM (R).

    Pushing its Telugu sibling channel Star Maa one rank to eighth place was another Star India FTA channel Star Utsav with 531.697 million weekly impressions in week 23 as compared to ninth rank and 501.065 million weekly impressions in week 22 of 2018.  Star Utsav was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and was ranked fourth in HSM (R).

    At ninth rank was Star India’s Telugu GEC Star Maa with 513.783 million weekly impressions in week 23 of 2018 as compared to eighth rank and 539.206 million weekly impressions in week 22.  Star Maa was ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets three of its programmes were among BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in these markets.

    Also re-entering the list was Zeel’s Telugu GEC Zee Telugu at tenth place with 510.127 million weekly impressions in week 23 of 2018. Zee Telugu topped BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu channels in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh markets and one of its programmes was included in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Telugu programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in these markets.

    BENGALURU: The Sun TV Network’s flagship Tamil GEC Sun TV was back at the pole position in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly list of top 10 channels across genre – All India (U+R): 2+ individuals for week 22 of 2018 Saturday, 26 May 2018 to Friday, 1 June 2018 (week under review).

    The Tamil GEC was followed at second place by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel)’s free to air (FTA) Hindi GEC Zee Anmol.

    Three channels each from the Star India network and Zeel, two channels from the Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) and one channel each from the Sun TV Network and Viacom18 made up BARC’s weekly list of top 10 channels across genre in week 22 of 2018.

    From the genres perspective, six were Hindi GECs, two were Hindi Movies and there was one channel each from the Tamil and the Telugu genres, respectively, in BARC’s weekly across genres list for week 22 of 2018.

    Sun TV moved up one rank in week 22 of 2018 to first place with 856.341 million weekly impressions as compared to second rank and 842.114 million weekly impressions in the previous week. Sun TV also headed BARC’s weekly list of top five Tamil channels in the Puducherry and Tamil Nadu markets. The first four programmes in BARC’s weekly list of top five Tamil programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in the same markets were aired on Sun TV.

    Zee Anmol slipped a rank to second place in week 22 of 2018 with 824.581 million weekly impressions as compared to 893.536 million weekly impressions in week 21. Zee Anmol was also ranked first in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in the combined urban and rural Hindi speaking or HSM (U+R) and individual rural Hindi speaking or HSM (R) markets during the week under review.

    Two programmes, the Balaji Telefilms-produced soap Kumkum Bhagya and Mahek that were aired on Zee Anmol were among BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (U+R) and HSM (R).

    Moving up a rank after the exit of the IPL 11-airing Star India’s Star Sports 1 Hindi was Viacom18’s FTA Hindi GEC Rishtey. Rishtey garnered 669.004 million weekly impressions in week 22 as compared to 691.066 million weekly impressions in week 21 of 2018. Rishtey was also ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and (HSM (R).

    Buoyed by the strong performance of the concluding part of the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Bahubali: The conclusion or BB2 in all the three markets — HSM (U+R), HSM (R) and HSM (U) — SPN’s Hindi Movies channel Sony Max jumped up four ranks to fourth place in week 22 of 2018.

    Sony Max garnered 664.599 million weekly impressions in the week under review as compared to 541.020 million weekly impression and eighth rank in week 21 of 2018. Sony Max topped BARC’s weekly list of top five Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) and was ranked fifth in HSM (R).  BB2 was ranked first in BARC’s list of top 5 Hindi Movies programmes in all the three markets. Another Hindi feature film (HFF) Hichki, which aired on Sony Max, was also among the top 5 Hindi Movies programmes during primetime in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U) markets.

    Zeel’s flagship Hindi GEC Zee TV retained its previous week’s rank, fifth, in week 22 of 2018 with higher ratings. The channel scored 624.069 million weekly impressions in week 22 as compared to 612.352 million weekly impressions in week 21 of 2018. Zee TV, ranked third in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R), was ranked first in HSM (U) and sixth in HSM (R). Three prgrammes from the channel, Kumkum Bhagya, its spinoff Kundali Bhagya and Mahek, were among the five most watched programmes during primetime in HSM (U+R), while the former two were among the five most watched programmes during primetime in HSM (U) and HSM (R).

    SPN’s women focused Hindi GEC Sony Pal also retained its previous week’s rank, sixth, with 581.109 million weekly impressions in week 22 as compared to 605.098 million weekly impressions in week 21 of 2018.

    Sony Pal was ranked fourth in BARC’s weekly list of top 10 Hindi GECs in HSM (U+R) and third in HSM (R). The sitcom Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah that was aired on Sony Pal was among the top five programmes during primetime in HSM (R) in BARC’s list of the top 5 Hindi GEC programmes during primetime based on average rating across all airings (original and repeat) in the week in HSM (R).

    Ranks seventh, eighth and ninth in week 22 of 2018 were held by three Star India channels. The FTA Hindi GEC Star Bharat retained its previous week’s seventh rank in week 22 of 2018 with 540.519 million weekly impressions as compared to 568.156 million weekly impressions in week 21. Star Bharat was ranked fifth in BARC’s list of top 10 Hindi GECs in all the three markets – HSM (U+R), HSM (U) and HSM (R).

    At eighth rank in week 22 of 2018 was Star India’s Telugu GEC Star Maa with 539.206 million weekly impressions as compared to the ninth rank and 509.836 million weekly impressions in week 21. Star Maa topped BARC’s weekly list of the top 5 Telugu channels in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets. Three of the top five Telugu programmes during primetime in these markets were aired on Star Maa.

    Re-entering the list in week 22 of 2018 was another FTA Hindi GEC channel Star Utsav with 501.065 million weekly impressions. Star Utsav was ranked sixth in BARC’s weekly list of top10 Hindi GECs’ in HSM (U+R) and ranked fifth in HSM (R).

    Zeel’s Hindi Movies channel Zee Cinema entered BARC’s across genres list for the first time in calendar year 2018 in week 22. The channel was also ranked second in BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi Movies channels in HSM (U+R) and HSM (U). The world television premier of the Akshay Kumar-starrer HFF PadMan, which was among the top five Hindi Movies programmes during primetime in the HSM (U+R) and HSM (R) and the Rajshree Productions’ hit Hum SaathSaath Hain from the year 1999 in HSM (U) were also responsible for the channel’s entry into the top 10 channels list
