    Affle appoints Vikas Katoch as national sales head

    MUMBAI: Digital media company Affle has appointed Vikas Katoch as national sales head. It has also roped in Prashant Kripps as head – publisher development and management for its soon-to-be launched new digital business unit.

    Both Katoch and Kripps move from Komli Media where they were working as national sales head-video advertising and national head for publisher groups respectively.

    Additionally, the agency has promoted Gaurav Pahwa as national sales head – mobile.

Given their robust experience in the digital industry, we look forward to exciting times ahead and achieving continued success.     Katoch comes in with over 12 years of digital sales and marketing experience in companies like Jivox, Hungama, IT Nation and Asian Paints.

    Kripps also brings in over 12 years of experience across television, print, OOH and digital media in companies like Times, HT Media, Media2Win and GroupM Mindshare.

    Pahwa had joined Affle last year from Network18 and has since played a very key role in driving Affle‘s mobile advertising sales effort forward, the company said.

  • Komli Media gets Norwest Venture to lead funding round of $39 mn

    MUMBAI: Media technology platform Komli Media Asia Pacific‘s has raised $39 million, bringing the total funds raised to $62 million.
    Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) led the largest financing round with participation from Nexus Venture Partners, Helion Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Western Technology Investment.

    The funds will be used to invest in the company‘s core media technology platforms and to expand its presence across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

    Komli Media CEO Prashant Mehta said, “We see significant long-term opportunity in bringing an integrated platform solution to the market. This financing will allow us to materially scale our platform and operations by investing in our Real-Time Bidding (RTB), data, analytics, and retargeting solutions to improve ROI for advertisers and yield for publishers. Our industry leading solutions will allow us to deepen our presence and engagement with customers and publisher partners across APAC.”

    Komli Media launches research centre for ad services

    MUMBAI: Media technology company, Komli Media, has announced the launch of Komli Labs, a centre for research in advertising sciences.

    Srinivasan H Sengamedu (SHS) has been appointed as the vice president and head of Komli Analytics and Labs.

    Komli Labs will be primarily focused on driving innovation in digital advertising through applied research and big data analytics, in the areas of real time bidding, audience measurement and targeting, ad verification and traffic quality management. This, in turn, will help create innovative solutions to deliver more relevant ads to users, maximizing value for advertisers and publishers.

    Komli Media CEO Prashant Mehta said, “Komli Media is committed to bringing scientific and technological innovation to the digital advertising ecosystem for the benefit of our customers. With SHS’s leadership, I am confident Komli Labs will help create huge differentiation for us.”

    SHS said, “There are three aspects to what we do – developing best-in-class technology to power Komli products, creating long-standing IP and authoring high-impact research papers. The Labs team is armed with deep technical knowledge and data expertise. At the same time we are passionate about solving practical problems and fearless about being hands-on.”

    SHS, former director of research at Yahoo Labs, is a researcher in the field of machine learning and data mining. He has a PhD in computer science from the Indian Institute of Science and has extensive experience in research, technology leadership and entrepreneurship with over 100 research papers published, 30+ patents filed and patents granted.

    Komli Media acquires Chennai-based ZestADZ

    MUMBAI: Digital media technology platform, Komli Media, has acquired a Chennai-based mobile advertising platform – ZestADZ.

    With this acquisition, Komli Media can offer a full suite of digital solutions to agencies, advertisers, and publishers, with solutions across display, video, search, social media and now mobile.

    ZestADZ, founded in 2007 by Asif Ali, aims to help advertisers and agencies deliver targeted mobile advertising campaigns to drive brand awareness, generate traffic and leads, and increase purchase intent.

    The company claims to currently deliver five billion mobile ad impressions globally each month. It also has an office in the United States.
     
    According to an official communiqué, Komli Media acquired ZestADZ for its strong team and sophisticated mobile advertising and analytics platform across feature phones and smartphone platforms such as iPhone, Android, and Windows Mobile.

    This is Komli’s fourth buyout in the past 13 months. In June 2010, Komli had acquired Australian website representation firm Post Click, while in October they took over Indoor Media, a UK-based online ethnic marketing company focused on the South Asian community. Last month, the company acquired Singapore-based digital media company, Aktiv Digital.

    The mobile division of Komli Media, which includes ZestADZ, is run by Amit Bhartiya, VP, together with Ali who will head Mobile products.

    Komli Media ropes in Gulshan Verma as country head, ad network

    MUMBAI: Digital media network platform, Komli Media, has roped in Gulshan Verma as VP and country head, ad network for India and Middle East.

    Verma moves in from Yahoo! India where he was working as director, sales strategy.

    In March 2009, Verma joined Ernst & Young (E&Y) India, after quitting Yahoo! At E&Y, he was responsible for the business consulting practice, focussing on the media and entertainment industry. In March 2010, he rejoined Yahoo! India as director, sales strategy.

    Recently, Komli Media has been on a shopping spree.

    In June, Komli Media acquired PostClick, an Australian internet site and in October 2010 the Mumbai-based start-up acquired Indoor Media, a UK-based online ethnic marketing media company.

    It has also recently raised $6 million in a second round of funding from existing investors Nexus Venture Partners, Helion Venture Partners, and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
