This International Women’s Day, KLAY Schools through their #BackForBetter campaign, captures Extraordinary Stories of Extraordinary Women

MUMBAI: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, KLAY Schools ran a week-long video series campaign featuring remarkable women from different walks of life in the first week of March 2020. The #BackforBetter tribute series captured the stories of women who managed work-life integration on their own terms, while dealing with life-altering milestones such as childbirth, sending their children off to college work, or even caring for their aging parents. Through sharing, the campaign aims to inspire more women to take the plunge and do what they believe in, while building the best of support systems in place.

The series features stories of women from different professions including an entrepreneur, an author, a renowned Bharatanatyam dancer, a social media influencer, a movie producer, a Lawyer, a Product Evangelist and a Consumer Communications Lead. The series portrays inspiring tales of women who took charge of their lives and decided to follow their dreams such as a homemaker turned athlete in her fifties, a management employee turned fitness guru and an engineer turned farmer.

KLAY Schools was started with the objective of bringing women back to work 8 years back. In this time, this chain of pre-schools and day care centres has managed to bring over 10,000 women back to the workforce (just as part of the full day care centres). The actual number is much more. As the work-life dynamic evolves, KLAY is looking to join hands with companies and dig deeper into the reasons why women drop-out of the workforce.  While maternity is a well-known barrier, today’s multi-generational workforce has different needs that change at every stage including schooling, college, and aging parents. For instance, an analysis by Infosys pointed out that around 5000 women quit in 2019 owing to Class X and Class XII board exams of their children.

Commenting on the campaign, Priya Krishnan – CEO, KLAY Schools said, “The objective of this video campaign is to extend our support and motivate all women out there who are considering returning to the workforce in order to pursue their dreams. These phenomenal women who have been identified and featured in these videos have displayed some extraordinary courage and grit towards building a strong ecosystem for women to thrive in their careers as well as their family lives. Through this year's theme, Back for Better, we would like to encourage women to stand up for each other and be each other's biggest cheerleaders”

Along with the hashtags #backforbetter, #bridgethegap and #eachforequal, the video series were featured and promoted across all of KLAY’s social media assets, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

KLAY Schools launches “That Parent Thing”, a content platform for millennial parents

MUMBAI: KLAY (Kids Learning And You) Schools, India’s largest chain of non-franchised pre-schools and daycare centres, today announced the launch of its content platform – That Parent Thing – dedicated to the parenting community, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Drawing on its experience as a leader in the ECCE (Early Childcare and Education) space, the platform champions it’s expertise on early years learning. Furthermore, That Parent Thing will provide knowledge and experiences from experts and parents, respectively, across a variety of subjects including work and life.

A brand publishing initiative by KLAY, That Parent Thing has experts from across the world share their opinions on every aspect of being a new-age parent. These include a globally renowned speech therapist, a leading child psychologist, a body-positivity ambassador, an angel investor & educator, and so on. With topics pertaining to infants, toddlers and pre-teens, the platform will attempt to answer every question that a parent may have while raising their child and help create a community of parents that can rely on each other.

Commenting on the launch, Priya Krishnan, CEO, KLAY Schools said, “Over the years, a combination of urban factors such as the rise of nuclear, double-income families and the availability of several sources (credible and otherwise) of information online has fed the paranoia associated with parenting. This phenomenon got us thinking and as a way of keeping up our commitment to partner parents in every phase of the parents' journey, we started ‘That Parent Thing’. Riding on our experience in caring for children between the ages of 1 – 6, we’ve embarked on a mission to help parents take charge of their parenthood with as much joy and as little guilt as possible. Over time, we are expecting the platform to shape into a tight-knit self-sufficient community of parents.”

Viacom18 introduces VIACUBS – a day care facility for employees’ children

Mumbai: In continuation of its gender inclusive policies such as a 36-weeks maternity leave and flexible work arrangement, Viacom18 today announces the launch of Viacubs – a child day-care service for Viacom18 employees. Viacubs is a part of Viacom18’s WAVE initiative which focusses on safety, wellness, life events and career development of employees. By providing a reliable support system, Viacom18 aims to empower the working parent to focus on and balance both career and parental duties.

On launching Viacubs, Abhinav Chopra, Chief Human Resource Officer, Viacom18 said, “WAVE was introduced with the aim of encouraging women to grow and take on more leadership roles to promote gender equity and inclusion at the workplace. Our women employees should not be in a position where they must choose between their careers and family. Viacubs will ensure a smooth transition for the returning mother with the assurance that her child will be well attended to, in a nurturing environment.

At Viacom18, we aim to provide the best of both worlds to our employees – fulfilling careers and quality family time. We understand the concerns that parents face when there’s a new addition to the family. Therefore, Viacubs opens its doors to new fathers, as much as to the new mothers, towards supporting their parenting journey.”

Launching the first centre in Mumbai in partnership with KLAY Schools, Viacubs is spread across 2,500 square feet. This dedicated space for children will have facilities including an infant room, toddler room, nursing room, play areas, cozy-corners to read, a pantry area, etc. Depending on the child’s age group, fun and learning activities have been designed as part of the curriculum. Employees with 6-month-old infants to 6-year-old kids can avail of the various facilities being provided at Viacubs.  A backup care facility is also available for parents who need to use the service for shorter periods in case of emergencies. Viacubs will provide a home away from home for employees’ children with adequate learning, enjoyment and expert care.

Providing the right support, safe environment and care for kids is the prime motto of Viacubs. Adequate caretakers will be present at the center to ensure best care. Caretakers will be present at all time to ensure the demands and requirements of the kids are met. The staff (caretaker) to child ratio is 1:2 for infants, 1:3 for junior toddlers, 1:5 for senior toddlers and pre-kindergarten and 1:8 for after school children. To ensure a secure environment, an online CCTV monitoring facility as well as an emergency doctor on call is also available.

Viacubs has currently been launched in the Mumbai office and will be subsequently launched in all Viacom18 offices across India.
