    Kishore Lulla to get IFFLA honour

    MUMBAI: The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) will honour Eros International group executive chairman Kishore Lulla and Sundance Institute’s Michelle Satter and Alesia Weston at its 5th Annual Industry Leadership Awards (ILA).

    Lulla has been instrumental in spearheading the growth of Eros International Group.

    “It is an honor for IFFLA to bestow its highest accolades to such distinguished executives of the entertainment community. They were selected for their vision, leadership, and unique contributions to the educational, business, and creative arenas not only related to Indian cinema, but the film community as a whole,” IFFLA Board member Noel De Souza said.

    “In addition we are thrilled that three of Hollywood’s most highly regarded talents join us for the 2012 Industry Seminar. We cannot wait for them to share their inspiring stories while enlightening and encouraging the fledgling filmmakers in our audience,” added De Souza.

    Since the 1980‘s Lulla has expanded the company’s presence in the UK, USA, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Fiji, and other international markets. He is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and also a board member of the University of California, Los Angeles Film School (UCLA).

    Commented Lulla, “The past few years we have witnessed an emerging popularity of Indian cinema outside of the Country. Eros is proud of its role in bringing this culture, its creativity, and energy to audiences worldwide.

    “IFFLA has been a major component in elevating the presence of Indian cinema in the US, especially within the entertainment industry, and to be recognized by such a prestigious festival is truly an honour.”

    The Awards will be presented on 12 April at the House of Blues Los Angeles.

    Eros Intnl’s music downloads on Apple iTunes, Real Rhapsody

    MUMBAI: Eros International, an integrated media and entertainment Company,announced that tracks from its recent Bollywood music albums- Omkara, I See You, Kudiyon Ka Hain Zamana and Namastey London will now be available for download on Apple’s iTunes on a worldwide basis and on Real Network’s Rhapsody for North America.

    Eros International Plc chairman & CEO Kishore Lulla said, “This is a significant milestone as far as our new media distribution is concerned. We remain focused on identifying and securing strategic distribution partners to showcase our Bollywood content to a wider audience.”

    He further added, “The Mauj Telecom deal for mobile content license announced this January and now the iTunes and Real Rhapsody deals make our recent move into music publishing all the more exciting. We remain positive about the opportunities presented by new media in this digital era.”The original sound tracks from Eros’s forthcoming film Eklavya, a Vinod Chopra Films Production, releasing in cinemas on February 16 will also be available for download.

    Eros launched the Bollywood video on demand services with cable giants Comcast and Rogers cable and has online movie download services with Movielink and RTL.

    Eros Intnl acquires global distribution rights for 3D film

    MUMBAI: Eros International has acquired the global distribution rights to India’s first full-length 3D animation film, Friends Forever.

    Friends Forever is the first Indian film to blend animated characters with real life actors and revolves around the cartoon character Zampano, a red and blue haired, pint sized character with magical powers, and his journey with a little girl throughout her childhood.

    Commenting on this Eros International CEO and Chairman Kishore Lulla said, “In the digital era, animation will most definitely be a growing trend. It is refreshing to see an animated film being produced solely in India and drawing on the creativity that popularizes Indian animation films. Friends Forever is a film for the whole family which will capture the imagination of all the young children in India.”

    Produced by Celluloid Dreams Pvt Ltd and directed by Soumitra Ranade, the film stars Ashmit Patel and Hrishithaa Bhatt. Eros International will release Friends Forever worldwide in cinemas this April.

    Eros International signs mobile content license deal with Mauj Telecom

    MUMBAI: Eros International has announced that it has signed a license deal involving minimum guarantee revenues with telecom solutions company Mauj Telecom for distribution of mobile content.

    In the past the two companies have collaborated on films including “Omkara” and “I See You”. The deal includes films such as “Namaste London”, “Eklavya – The Royal Guard”, “No Smoking” and “Friends Forever.”.

    “With mobile and wireless connectivity in India growing at an impressive 80 per cent CAGR, the opportunity to monetise Bollywood content through mobile properties such as ringtones, wallpapers, songs and video clips is becoming increasingly lucrative,” Eros said in a statement.

    Eros’ content will be distributed on Mauj’s international telecom network. “The Mauj deal is a significant landmark in Eros’ commitment to tap into the new media opportunities presented by digital convergence. The deal enhances Eros’s recent expansion into music publishing as most mobile content is derived from Bollywood musicals. Mauj has created a niche in the mobile space within a short span of time and we are pleased to be working with them to unlock further value in our mobile content,” said Eros International chairman and CEO Kishore Lulla.

    Added Mauj chairman and managing director Anupam Mittal, “Eros International is one of the largest content owners in the Bollywood business and has a very strong pipeline of forthcoming films. We were keen to secure the deal to distribute that premium content on mobile platforms in an increasingly competitive environment. Eros’ content combined with Mauj’s technical infrastructure and relationships with mobile networks operators make this an attractive deal for both companies.”

    Eros, Intel team up to bring Bollywood movies from PC to TVs

    MUMBAI: Eros International and Intel Corporation have announced the debut of Eros’s latest Bollywood service on Intel Viiv technology-based PCs.

    Accelerating the on-demand, broadband-delivered Bollywood content to PCs connected to TVs, the companies announced plans for the pre-DVD online premiere of the Arjun Rampal starrer I See You, within weeks of its global theatrical release. The film released on 29 December 2006.

    At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Eros and Intel demonstrated the new service, which delivers access to Bollywood entertainment, including high-definition movies, music videos, day and date premieres, evergreen blockbusters and timeless classics, from the web to Intel Viiv technology-based PCs for viewing and enjoyment on large screen TVs. The Eros service will offer rental, subscription, download to own at launch and even download to burn models in the future, informs an official release.

    “Our effort with Intel will give us the opportunity to serve an even broader audience worldwide, enter new markets and gain new revenue streams, while exploring and embracing a variety of exciting new digital distribution technologies, such as Intel Viiv technology. We are a content company that believes in empowering consumers so they can watch what they want, when they want, how they want,” said Eros chairman and CEO Kishore Lulla.

    “Through Intel Viiv technology and our collaboration with Eros, we’re bringing the world directly into consumers’ living rooms at the touch of a button.     Eros International in 2-year output deal with K Sera Sera

    MUMBAI: London-headquartered media and entertainment group Eros International that owns and distributes Bollywood content globally has announced a long-term output deal with the Mumbai-based production house K Sera Sera to co-produce and exclusively handle global distribution of its forthcoming films.

    Indiantelevision.com was the first to report that K Sera Sera and Eros were in negotiations for an output deal.

    “We have signed an MoU for a broadbased two-year output deal. We are working out the details,” says K Sera Sera managing director Parag Sanghvi. The deal is “for assignment of some of its rights for some of its forthcoming film projects.” Definitive agreement for assignment of the rights shall be entered between the parties at a later date.

    The deal gives Eros access to K Sera Sera’s entire output over a long term period, which is guaranteed to be at least 10 films. Projects in the pipeline include Nanhe starring Bobby Deol, Dombivili Fast directed by Abbas Mastan, and three Salman Khan films, including Partner directed by David Dhawan, informs an official release.

    With this deal, Eros expects to increase its presence in India through co-productions and the acquisition of distribution rights to include music publishing and more significantly, Indian cinema distribution, which accounts for over 50 per cent of the revenues of the Indian film industry.

    Says Eros chairman & CEO Kishore Lulla, “This deal demonstrates our content consolidation strategy as outlined at the time of our flotation. We are confident that collaborating with a successful production house like K Sera Sera will help accelerate our growth from co-productions and ensure a steady flow of content through our pipeline.”

    Adds Sanghvi, “We are delighted to be associated with Eros who have been pioneers in the Bollywood distribution and entertainment space for over three decades. This output deal allows us to focus on our core competency of film production.”

    Eros’s latest Bollywood venture has been Omkara, a Bollywood adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello. As per the official release, the movie grossed box office revenues of $6.7 million in its first week of worldwide release in August 2006.

    Eros International listed on London’s Alternate Investment Market

    MUMBAI: Eros International plc, the international media and entertainment group that owns and distributes Bollywood content globally in a variety of formats, began trading on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, under the ticker ‘EROS’. The company was listed on 4 July.

    The flotation follows a placing of the company’s shares which raised over £22.5 million ($41 million). The company will be capitalised at approximately £176.0 million ($321 million), at the placing price of at £1.76 per ordinary share, states an official release.

    The company also said it would use the funds raised to expand its business and exploit content over new media such as online cable, wireless and mobile.

    Eros International chairman and CEO Kishore Lulla says, “This is an exciting day for everyone at Eros and a new chapter in the growth of our business. We are proud to bring Eros to the market as a publicly traded company.”

    Eros International also promotes the B4U television channel network. Founded in India in 1977, the company has a film library containing more than 1,300 titles and more than 110 employees in India, Britain, the United States, United Arab Emirates, Australia and Fiji, as per the release.
