  • Katherine Pope is NBC Entertainment executive VP

    MUMBAI: US broadcaster NBC has announced that Katherine Pope, a senior executive at NBC Universal Television Studio, has been named NBC Entertainment executive VP.
    She will be joined by fellow studio executive Jeff Ingold, who now becomes NBC’s senior VP, comedy development.
    Pope and Ingold are both former programme executives at the network. Pope will replace Ghen Maynard, who used to be NBC Entertainment executive VP, primetime development. Ingold assumes the role once held by Cheryl Dolins.
    NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly says, “I have known and respected Katherine and Jeff’s work since their previous term at the network. They have strong relationships in the creative community and are extremely talented development executives. The timing of these moves will allow this new team to be integrally involved in pilot decisions at this important stage in our development season.”

    NBC Universal Television undergoes corporate restructuring

    MUMBAI: Newly formed media conglomerate NBC Universal has announced that its television unit has undergone an executive re-structuring.

    Katherine Pope has become the senior VP drama development, while Shelley McCrory occupies the same position in the comedy area. In addition, Jerry Dicanio will oversee all production for the studio. DiCanio recently served as senior VP production operations and finance NBC Studios. Rick Olshansky will join the company as NBC Universal Television executive VP, business affairs.

    They will report to NBC Universal Television group executive VP Marc Graboff. NBC Universal Television was formed through the union of production companies Universal Network Television and NBC Studios last month.

    NBC Universal Television co-president Angela Bromstead added, “This re-configuration of our executive team further positions us to maintain our tremendous advantages of this new union. All are proven veterans who have a wealth of experience and contacts, which are crucial to our success.”

    Another key appointment is that of Paulo de Oliveira as senior VP cable programmes. Charles Engel remains the executive VP programming. He will oversee projects from Wolf Films. That company produces the Law & Order drama show. In India the show airs on Star World. Engel is a 30-year veteran of the formerly called Universal Network Television
