    BENGALURU: Star India’s Malayalam general entertainment channel Asianet is all set to air the first European Malayalam film award — Anand TV Film Awards on 17 July 2016 starting 630pm onwards. The awards were held at O2, Apollo, Manchester, UK, on 28 May 2016. Several prominent persons from the film industry and socio-cultural spheres were present on the occasion says an Asianet release.

    Asianet has roped in Goodknight as powered by sponsor and Yamaha, Chandrika Soap and Gold Winner as associate sponsors.

    Anand Media claims to be a pioneer of Malayalam TV channels in Europe, that brought the first Malayalam channel to Europe on 17 August 2002. It had started with only channel on satellite and has added two more to entertain the diaspora from ‘God’s own country’. It’s packages include a number of Malayalee channels across networks that are broadcast in India.

    Star India (South) MD K Madhavan was on hand to collect ‘Innovation in Broadcasting’ award for his outstating contributions to Indian Television Industry. Also Shifa Al Jazeera Medical group founder and chairman K T Rabeeullah and Thembalath Ramachandran (Bristol Laboratories) won Business awards ‘Pravasi Ratna’ and ‘Business Excellence’ respectively. Malayalam superstar Mammootty won the best actor award for his role in ‘Pathemari’ and Parvathy for the best female actress for the film ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’. ‘ Ennu Ninte Moideen’ won the award for the best film and Salim Ahammed won the award for the best director for the movie ‘Pathemari’.

    Performance from cine artistes such as Isha Talwar, Gayathri Suresh, Arya , Pashanam Shaji, Tini Tom, Dulquer Salman, Vijay Yesudas, Sithara, Gopi Sundar, Stephen Devassya, Manoj K. Jayan, Suraj Venjaramoodu , Manoj Guiness, Nobi, and British Dancers entertained the viewers at the venue.

    MUMBAI: Star India announced a series of leadership changes as part of an organizational shift to strategic business units where Uday Shankar will be chairman and CEO.The current COO Sanjay Gupta has been elevated to Star India’s managing director and K. Madhavan will be managing director-South.

    Both Gupta and Madhavan will continue to report to Shankar. These changes position the organization to meet its future growth ambitions on the back of a decade of rapid growth.

    “Star India consistently sets the standard for innovation and growth in one of the world’s most exciting markets,” said 21st Century Fox chief executive officer James Murdoch. “Uday, Sanjay, Madhavan and the entire Star India team have built a world-class business that has grown at double the industry rate. We are proud of its success and look forward to the next chapter of growth under Uday’s transformational leadership.”

    Star has established empowered business units each with its own CEO reporting to Sanjay Gupta. Amit Chopra appointed as CEO of entertainment, which spans drama and movie channels across national and regional channels in Hindi, English, Bengali and Marathi. While, Sports CEO Nitin Kukreja, which includes a leading portfolio of channels under the Star Sports banner.

    Ajit Mohan is now CEO digital, which oversees Hotstar, Star’s revolutionary digital platform which recently surpassed 50 million downloads and Vijay Singh has also been upped as the CEO of Fox Star Studios, which produces and distributes Bollywood and Regional films.

    Kevin Vaz has been appointed as South CEO and will be reporting to K. Madhavan. The South business unit incorporates all of Star’s business interests in the Southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

    In another first, a pan-India content studio will be set up to drive cutting edge innovation in programming under Gaurav Banerjee who will report into Sanjay Gupta. The corporate centre will continue largely unchanged.

    MUMBAI: Star Sports’ Pro Kabaddi League has roped in actor Rana Daggubati as its brand ambassador for the third season.

     

    Daggubati will promote the Pro Kabaddi League across mediums with a special focus on the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions .

     

    Star India COO Sanjay Gupta said, “With season 3, we will scale up our reach and keep raising the league’s value for viewers, players and franchises through high-end production, marketing, communication and grassroots programme. The fact that kabaddi is now the country’s second most viewed sport, second only to cricket, brings us great pride. For Season 3, Rana Daggubati lends his bold, powerful image to Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League. With his pan-India popularity, we hope the association will aid our goal of fostering a multi-sport culture in the country.”

    The third season of the Pro Kabaddi League will kick-start on 30 January, 2016 at Vizag. This year, the league will see two playing seasons, and the squads will include 26 international players from 11 nations, including Kenya, Japan, Oman, Thailand, Indonesia and Poland. Overall, the league will feature around 138 players from eight teams.
