Noteworthy initiatives such as green India initiatives, technological advancements, and startup-friendly budgets, including PM Mudra Yojana, which approved 43 crore loans totalling Rs 22.5 lakh crore for the entrepreneurial aspirations of the youth, have played a pivotal role in the country’s economic progress. Additionally, schemes like Fund of Funds, Startup India, and Start-Up Credit Guarantee have significantly contributed to the advancement of our youth.

FM Sitharaman emphasised a golden era for tech-savvy youth, introducing a corpus of Rs 1 lakh crore with a fifty-year interest-free loan. This corpus aims to provide long-term financing or refinancing with extended tenors and low or negligible interest rates, fostering research and innovation in sunrise domains within the private sector. This move is particularly beneficial for D2C startups in India.

The threshold for presumptive taxation in retail businesses has been increased, the corporate tax rate dropped and new manufacturing companies enjoy a reduced rate. These measures create a favourable environment for the retail sector, supporting business growth and economic stability”.

BN Group managing director and CEO Anubhav Agarwal

“FM Sitharaman’s Interim Budget holds promise for the edible oil industry. The continued focus on ‘Atmanirbhar Oil Seeds Abhiyan’ with its emphasis on research, technology adoption, and market linkages is a welcome step towards self-sufficiency. This, coupled with the increased capital investment outlay, paints a promising picture for rural development and increased consumption, both of which directly impact our industry’s growth. However, the success hinges on the swift implementation of these initiatives. Streamlining access to high-yielding seeds, ensuring timely procurement at remunerative prices, and facilitating value addition, crop insurance are crucial for farmers to truly benefit. Additionally, sustaining the reduced import duties on key edible oils while strengthening domestic production can create a win-win situation for consumers and industry players.

Overall, the budget lays a strong foundation towards self-reliance, but industry collaboration and swift execution will be key to translating vision into reality. We, in the edible oil industry, are optimistic and committed to contributing to a truly ‘Atmanirbhar’ edible oil ecosystem for India.”

  • Excelling in exams commences with quality sleep: The significance of bedding accessories

Excelling in exams commences with quality sleep: The significance of bedding accessories

Mumbai: Pulling all-nighters and experiencing restlessness due to exam stress is a common challenge students face. The pressure to excel in exams often leads to sacrificing sleep for studying extensively. However, doing this can have adverse effects on academic performance and the overall well-being. The decision to study all night might seem productive in the short-term, but it can impair cognitive functions in the long run. Lack of sleep affects memory retention, focus, and problem-solving abilities, affecting performance during exams.  The stress-induced cycle of restlessness creates a loop wherein anxiety makes it challenging to relax and fall asleep, leading to sleep deprivation. This, in turn, amplifies stress and diminishes the ability to concentrate effectively during study sessions and exams.

To address these issues, it is crucial to prioritise a healthy sleep routine. Establishing a consistent sleep schedule, even during exam periods, is extremely essential. Managing stress through mindfulness, relaxation exercises, or engaging in activities that promote calmness can help mitigate anxiety levels and facilitate better sleep. Effective time management strategies, such as breaking study sessions into manageable segments and taking regular breaks, can prevent the need for last-minute rush and all-nighters. A comfortable mattress and appropriate bedding accessories contribute significantly to creating an environment conducive to relaxation and better sleep quality.

    Cushions to the rescue
As the exam season begins, the allure of studying in bed, nestled amidst the comfort of blankets and pillows, can be undeniable. However, this seemingly cozy position can inadvertently lead to physical discomfort, aggravating mental tension during exams. Instead of succumbing to the temptation of studying hunched over a laptop or grappling with a book without proper back support, consider transforming the bed into an ergonomic study haven with the aid of strategically positioned cushions. Studying in bed can pose several musculoskeletal challenges, including compromised posture due to the soft and yielding nature of beds, uneven surfaces that make it difficult to maintain a stable and balanced position while studying, and a lack of support that can lead to spinal misalignment, muscle fatigue, and pain.

A firm and comfortable cushion behind the lower back can help maintain a natural curve in the spine, preventing slouching and promoting proper alignment. Elevating the chest and shoulders with cushions can reduce the forward head posture that often occurs while studying in bed, minimising strain on the neck and shoulders. Strategically position additional cushions to support the elbows and forearms, preventing them from dangling or resting on uneven surfaces. By using cushions while studying in bed, one can effectively combat physical discomfort, enhance focus, and approach exams with renewed confidence.

Let the exam stress slip away in no time with spring mattresses

Achieving success in exams heavily depends on quality sleep, underscoring the significance of choosing the right mattress. A spring mattress offers a compelling solution by naturally aligning the body, facilitating easier sleep onset without the need for distractions like books or phones. These mattresses, equipped with high-tempered springs and superior edge support, ensure comfort while accommodating extra weight, fostering rejuvenating sleep. Additionally, their breathable surfaces create a comfortable, temperature-regulated sleep environment. By recognising the role of a quality mattress in promoting restful sleep, one can proactively enhance sleep quality, contributing significantly to improved academic performance.

Get the best neck alignment while studying and a good night’s sleep with foam pillows

The way we position our neck during sleep is of great importance, especially concerning its impact on maintaining an uninterrupted flow of oxygen to the brain and ensuring proper blood circulation throughout the body. This aspect is crucial for students. Improper neck alignment during sleep can lead to decreased oxygen supply to the brain, resulting in morning discomfort and irritability that can significantly hamper a student’s focus and mental well-being throughout the day.

The choice of pillows, too, greatly influences the physical alignment of the neck, making foam pillows an essential consideration. These pillows are thoughtfully designed to offer optimal support to the neck and spine, crucial for maintaining a restful and revitalising sleep experience. Understanding the pivotal role of proper neck posture in ensuring sound sleep quality, foam pillows actively contribute to enhancing the overall sleep cycle’s quality. By easing discomfort and strain, they play a pivotal role in promoting good mental health and ensuring a well-regulated sleep routine, significantly beneficial for students aiming to excel in their academic endeavors.

    Conclusion

A student’s life is full of constant changes and challenges, both physically and mentally. They need to prioritise adequate rest to optimise cognitive abilities, especially during stressful exams, and hence, it’s crucial to create a supportive sleeping environment that enhances overall body posture. Bedding accessories like cushions offer comfort during study sessions, while spring mattresses contribute to better sleep quality and posture alignment. By acknowledging the importance of these accessories and fostering a conducive sleep environment, students can enhance their well-being, and concentration, and ultimately excel in their exams.

“Our messaging is simple: to dream better and wake up feeling refreshed”: Peps Industries’ K Madhavan

Mumbai: In a world where skincare takes the spotlight, the importance of bedding in maintaining healthy and radiant skin often goes unnoticed. • India’s M&E industry to reach $55-70 bn by 2030: CII – BCG Big Picture 2021 Report

India’s M&E industry to reach $55-70 bn by 2030: CII – BCG Big Picture 2021 Report

Mumbai: Currently valued at around $27 bn, India’s media and entertainment industry is all set to grow at 10-12 per cent CAGR to become a $55-70Bn industry by 2030, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) have projected in their new report, released on Thursday.

Ending the year on an optimistic note, the report highlighted how the industry has already revived to pre-Covid levels and its next phase of growth will be led by OTT, gaming, VFX and animation.

“Our industry has always been at the forefront of disruption and we will continue to innovate over the next decade. We will now need new answers and will need them fast, even on the most fundamental things like talent pool to run our companies and methodology for measuring the impact we are delivering to advertisers on our platforms. We will need to continue to embrace change going forward,” said CII National Committee on M&E – chairman and The Walt Disney Company India and Star India president K Madhavan.

    Robust growth for TV

According to the report – ‘Blockbuster Script for the New Decade: Way Forward for Indian Media and Entertainment Industry’, TV as a medium is expected to remain robust given its function as a platform for family viewing, strong user base, and the evolution of content to meet everyone’s needs. Unlike global markets, India’s TV penetration has remained flat and ARPUs have also been steady, with both trends expected to continue in the medium term. Subscriptions will be driven by the strong performance of regional channels and cost advantage vis-à-vis OTT. Cord cutting is nascent and is expected to be limited in the medium term. TV ad volumes have bounced back to pre-Covid levels, and are expected to continue growing in the future, driven by an increase in advertising on regional channels & growth in new advertisers.

OTT sector in the scaling stage

The Indian OTT segment is currently in scaling stage with strong subscription growth and increased investments in premium & original content, stated the report. More affordable data has led to an increase in internet access and digital payments, thereby improving access to OTT platforms and digital videos. The industry is one of the most competitive amongst emerging markets with 40+ players representing all types of content providers. SVOD revenue has seen a remarkable surge over last few years and is expected to overtake AVOD in the coming years.

“The share of traditional media is slowly declining with increased digital adoption but there is still high headroom for penetration with only 54 per cent of Indian households having a pay TV connection compared to more than 70 per cent in China. For many households, TV continues to be the center of the home and a significant part of family time,” said BCG India MD and partner Mandeep Kohli.

    Film industry’s road to recovery

According to the report, the film industry has shown encouraging signs of recovery post a difficult 2020. There are a few growth factors for the future – continued growth in regional, direct to digital releases and the rise of “content films” and others. The Indian Postproduction, VFX and Animation industry accounts for <10 per cent share of the global market and has the potential to be a booming sector this decade on the back of several Central and State Government initiatives.

“After a long period of shutdown, cinema halls are now back in business with a bang. A record number of big-ticket movies are lined up for release well into 2022. That augurs well for the sector but caps on occupancies, closures of cinemas and modified audience behaviour might impact the speed of recovery,” said CII National Committee on M&E co-chairman and founder & MD Roy Kapur Films Siddharth Roy Kapur. “On the other hand, streaming has provided new avenues for screening and broad-based the options available for producers, artistes and technicians. Along with the rise of regional cinema, this marks the start of a truly fantastic decade ahead for the Indian content business.”

    Way ahead for the industry

According to Technicolor India country head Biren Ghose, who is also CII National Committee on Media and Entertainment vice chairman, the success of India’s media and entertainment will ultimately depend on the ability to scale world-class creative talent in order to capitalise on the global opportunity, especially in the gaming sector.

The projections showed that the industry is at a critical juncture of transformation, offering rapid growth in some areas. “But, to realise this growth, companies must tweak their strategies to take advantage of the current market situation,” said BCG India MD and senior partner Kanchan Samtani. “In addition to investing in content and technology to improve user experience, companies should also leverage suitable distribution models to enhance reach, focus on providing integrated ad solutions and offer innovative marketing formats to enhance the value proposition to advertisers.”

“This year’s report put together by BCG with the help of CII Media and Entertainment Committee, looks at the decade ahead, and will help businesses chart their growth path and aide the government in framing enabling measures to facilitate further expansion of the sector,” said CII director-general Chandrajit Banerjee.
