  • JWT bags creative duties of Vietnam’s first international DTH company

JWT bags creative duties of Vietnam’s first international DTH company

MUMBAI: Vietnam’s satellite television operator VSTV/K+ has named J. Walter Thompson as its creative agency of record in Vietnam after a recently concluded multi-agency pitch.

VSTV/K+ is a joint venture between state-owned VTV and Canal+ Overseas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canal+ Group of France.

A total of three agencies were invited for this pitch, which was overseen by VSTV/K+ team from Vietnam and representatives from Canal+ Overseas.

K+ entered the Vietnam market in 2009 as a DTH pioneer with exclusive English Premier League content. Since then it has garnered a subscriber base of more than 800,000.

By using direct to home and advanced technologies, K+ brings quality national level satellite TV service to Vietnamese households via SD and HD set-top-boxes at competitive prices, offering 4 K+ premium and exclusive channels, up to 130 SD channels and 10 HD channels across genres: sports, movies, general entertainment, news, music, and documentaries.

VSTV/K+ COO and CFO Frederic Berardi said, “Whilst K+ has made a name in the Vietnam television space, our brand now needs to take the high ground as an entertainment hub for Vietnamese homes via exclusive, premium content. JWT demonstrated to us strong understanding of the big picture, the road map and they combined that with an entrepreneurial mentality, so essential as we seek to drive change in a fast evolving market.”

As part of the restage program, K+ has been enriching the content on its four exclusive channels with key investments in 2015. This includes strategic partnerships with leading film studios, BHD (Vietnam) and CJ (Korea) to beam latest Vietnamese movies into Vietnamese homes, only few months after their release in cinema. Another one is the exclusive acquisition of ATP World Tour series for the next three seasons (2016/2017/2018) which has just been announced.

JWT Vietnam CEO Saby Mishra, who led the pitch effort, added, “For J. Walter Thompson this is a real honor to work with the country’s premier broadcasting venture. We are excited about the opportunity to work with the VSTV/K+ team and pioneer a true premiumization inflection-point in a broadcast market where free-to-air analogue terrestrial has been the norm for long.”

“The challenges of digital switchover will however vary significantly across ASEAN region, depending on market conditions. In case of Vietnam, its 23 million TV households in a population of 90 million, is showing an appetite for quality content so we believe that there is now headroom for creating a mass-premium segment via exclusive content, smart value propositions, branding and creativity,” Mishra said.

  • Askme & Askmebazaar roll out new TVCs with Ranbir Kapoor & Farhan Akhtar

Askme & Askmebazaar roll out new TVCs with Ranbir Kapoor & Farhan Akhtar

MUMBAI: Internet platform Askme.com and its online marketplace Askmebazaar.com have launched two comprehensive campaigns.

While Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the Askme commercials, Farhan Akhtar has been roped in as the new face for Askmebazaar. Both these campaigns aim to bring together Askme’s single proposition of ‘One stop destination’.

Askme’s campaign, ‘Baap of all trends’ is in line with brand ethos of being ahead of the curve. Through this campaign, the company aims to position itself as the one stop destination that caters to diverse needs of a customer.

In a move to connect with today’s youth, the campaign aims to fill the gap between a plethora of options available in the online space but lack of one credible source for the same.

Further, with the launch of the campaign by Askmebazaar.com, the company introduces a novel concept of online retail therapy. ‘One Click Therapy’ as the name suggests acts as the driving force for customers to lead a stress free life. Online marketplace in Askmebazaar is positioned as stress buster via retail therapy as it offers next day delivery on top brand with best deals.

Conceptualized by JWT, both the campaigns use a comprehensive multimedia approach, compelling facts and vivid imagery designed to change consumers buying behavior.

Askme group CMO Manav Sethi said, Both these campaigns are built on consumer insights. Search has moved from discovery to aggregated opinions and hence Askme assumes that leadership position across India to communicate best places to eat, wear, and relax etc. The option to transact these products and be in the trend is made available by Askmebazaar where majority find platforms such as these an option full of choices, brands and best prices and hence ‘stress mein don’t go bizarre; shop on askmebazaar.’”

J Walter Thompson senior vice president & executive business director Saurabh Saksena added, “Over the past few years the consumers are turning to the internet to see what choices they have to make, whether for eating-out, travel destinations, fashion, gadgets, plays, etc. While there are many destinations that offers them choice, few offer them advise. The poor consumer is left asking people who they know (and who may not be experts) for their advise about where to eat, where to travel to, which movie to watch, what to wear and what gadget to buy, etc.”

“And these ‘advisors’ may not be the best people to ask. This forms the basis for our campaign, we have had most fun coming up with. ‘Don’t ask just about anyone, ask the Baap of all trends, askme.com’. Askme.com offers to satisfy this need to get advise/ recommendations from a credible source, through curated experiences,” he added.

MUMBAI: In a first for India at Annecy, France’s International Animation Film Festival, Eeksaurus has bagged the Annecy Cristal Award in the Commissioned Film Category for its film on child labour for Rotary International titled ‘Fateline’.

The jury at Annecy was mighty impressed with the campaign calling it a film that was a fantastic mix of technique and aesthetics, a kind they had never seen before. The festival received a total of 2,604 films from 95 countries this year, of which 199 films made the official selection.

The campaign which is based on the concept of a young child labourer determined to break free from the bonds that hold him down, is a simple yet effective rendition of how the impossible can be made possible when people join hands in working towards a cause. Working with the team of JWT, Eeksaurus had outlined the hands of the palm drawing in from the concept of fate or haath ke lakeer combined with the use of strong imagery and music to lay emphasis on the sensitivity of the situation.

Eeksaurus founder and creative director Suresh Eriyat said, “This is the first time ever that any ad campaign from India has won at this prestigious festival which is a matter of great pride. We thank all those who have put in tremendous efforts to bring this campaign to life especially our fantastic in-house team of animators, Rajat and Taufiq, Chester, Arun Crasto and the lovely children from Govandi who lent the soul to this film. The core ethos of this campaign was to reach out to the masses hence no caste, gender or creed was highlighted which has been possible through the use of 2D animation in the film. It is extremely heartening to be recognised for your work at Annecy which gives us a tremendous boost to further explore the scope of animation in India.”
