    BMG Japan catalogue is available at iTunes

    MUMBAI: Music label BMG Japan and software major Apple have announced the availability of Japanese and international artists on the iTunes Store in Japan.

    The addition of the BMG Japan catalogue brings Japaenese pop and international artists to the iTunes Store beginning today, including Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Foo Fighters, Justin Timberlake, Kasabian, Outkast, Pink, Seamo, Suga Shikao, Sukima Switch, Usher and more.

    Apple VP iTunes Eddy Cue says, “Top artists, breakthrough pricing, seamless integration with iPod and groundbreaking personal use rights have made iTunes the number one online music service in Japan. We’re thrilled to bring BMG’s impressive catalog to iTunes so fans in Japan can download and enjoy even more great music.”

    The iTunes Store in Japan now features more than two million songs, 3,500 music videos, Disney and Pixar short films, 65,000 podcasts and 16,000 audiobooks. With over 90 percent of songs priced at just 150 yen per song, the iTunes Store offers the great value and features that have made iTunes the number one online music service in the world, with over 1.5 billion songs purchased and downloaded. BMG Japan will continue to add more of its extensive catalog to the iTunes Store in the coming months.

    Bond star Daniel Craig to make a splash at MTV Europe Music Awards

    MUMBAI: The MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 take place in Copenhagen on 2 November 2006.

    Daniel Craig, who stars as James Bond in Casino Royale, the latest film in the 007 series, will be in Copenhagen, presenting an award alongside Denmark’s own Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the Bond villain, Le Chifre in the blockbuster movie due for release in India next month.

    Keane, The Killers, P Diddy, Muse and Nelly Furtado will perform. The show will be hosted by Justin Timberlake who will also perform.

    The rock band Keane’s debut album Hopes And Fears sold five million copies in 2003. Their second album Under the Iron Sea went straight to top at the UK and European Charts in June, also entering the US Billboard Charts at Number four. They will be embarking on their UK and European tour later this month.

    The Killers took the world by storm when they left their native Las Vegas and released the debut album, Hot Fuss two years ago. Their recent studio effort Sam’s Town sees the band embracing a fuller, more mature sound.

    MUMBAI: Singers Kelly Clarkson and James Blunt triumphed at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards which took place a few nights ago in New York. Blunt won for the video You’re Beautiful while Clarkson won for the video Because of You. Best Group Video went The All-American Rejects’ Move Along.

    Jay-Z welcomed the VMAs back to New York City. The night opened with Justin Timberlake’s performing SexyBack. The show’s host Jack Black, dressed as the bad Moonman and Elvis, followed with a comical rock performance featuring Tenacious D band mate Kyle Glass.

    For the first time viewers were able to vote on all general
    awards categories. Panic! at the Disco nabbed Best Video of the Year for I Write Sins Not Tragedies. Avenged Sevenfold won Best New Artist Video for their music video Bat Country. Beyonce took home a Moon Man for Best R&B Video for her music video Check on It.

    While the VMAs aired live on MTV, MTV.com streamed VMA Live: Backstage Uncensored. This was a simultaneous view of the action behind the scenes and backstage that viewers have never gotten to see. Fans followed talent such as Ludacris, OK Go, and T.I. as they traveled from dressing rooms to the stage for their performances. In addition to the television and broadband experiences, MTV Mobile offered updates and recaps
    of the VMAs across all wireless carriers. The VMAs were also celebrated across all of MTV’s platforms including MTV2, mtvU, MHD, MTV World, and Urge.

    Stand up artiste Sarah Silverman took good natured jabs at everyone from Lance Bass to socialite Paris Hilton. Silverman had the audience laughing while she left celebrities guessing who was going to be her next target of sarcasm.

    In a self-deprecating taped moment, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline earned some laughs when they announced the winner for Best R&B Video. The tone turned more serious when Queen Latifah introduced former US Vice President Al Gore to the stage. In the spirit of An Inconvenient Truth Gore brought a message of urgent importance concerning the world community to the VMA audience.

    He projected the plight of the environment onto the actual walls of the theater. To highlight that caring about the environment is the new norm, MTV unveiled new Break the Addiction PSAs during the MTV Video Music Awards. The spots’ approach is that if you’re not actively combating global warming every day, you’re behind the times.

    MUMBAI: Aiming to tap any screen, MTV Networks launches 2006 MTV Movie Awards through various interactive platforms.

    The network has set up an interactive hub www.movieawards.mtv.com, viewers will be able to access every aspect of the Movies awards.
    In addition, the network will unveil My Movie Awards on MTV Overdrive, creating opportunity to watch and customize the entire movie awards ceremony, plus experience exclusive content not seen during the show.

    There users can re-experience the awards in their own unique, customized way through MTV Overdrive which will have the entire show in bite-size on-demand segments.

    By creating a personalized highlight reel of the show, or simply watch it in its entirety on demand — it’s all up to the fans. Viewers will also be able to access exclusive footage not seen on-air including, revealing backstage diaries from the night’s celebrities, an in-depth look at the hottest red carpet fashions, interviews with the big winners, and much more.

    My Movie Awards will debut immediately following the on-air premiere of the 2006 MTV Movie Awards on 8 June.

    Jessica Alba will be hosting the 2006 MTV Movie Awards in California. Taking the stage to debut new music and deliver eagerly awaited live performances at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards are Christina Aguilera and punk rockers, AFI.

    Kate Beckinsale, Jamie Foxx, Owen Wilson, Justin Timberlake, Matt Dillon, Will Ferrell, T.I., Kate Hudson, Ludacris, Rebecca Romijn, Kate Bosworth, Famke Janssen, John C. Reilly and Brandon Routh are the first to be announced in the growing list of stars presenting at this year’s ceremony, which promises to be more than an award show, but a movie unto itself, informs an official release.

    Up for starring roles at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards are the 40-Year Old Virgin and Wedding Crashers, each receiving five nominations. Also vying for the spotlight are Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hustle & Flow, Sin City and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith with three nominations each.

    MTV will also celebrate the all new categories of Best Hero, Sexiest Performance and the ‘mtvU Student Filmmaker Award’ for the first time ever.

    Tenth Planet Productions will once again join MTV to produce the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. Joel Gallen will executive produce the show for the 12th consecutive year, and will also direct the show. Salli Frattini is executive producer for MTV. Rick Austin is Producer and Kathy Flynn will serve as event producer.

    The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will be seen in 171 countries /territories via 50 music programming services, and in 23 languages in more than 479.5 million households, informs the official release.
