    JumpTV in deal with Joost

    MUMBAI: JumpTV, which broadcasts ethnic television over the Internet, has partnered with Joost a recently launched free-to-air Internet television service.

    JumpTV will make a portion of its library of video-on-demand television content available on a series of JumpTV-branded ethnic television vertical channels on the Joost platform.

     
    JumpTV currently broadcasts live over the Internet thousands of television programmes, news, music and sporting events from 270 channels from over 70 countries around the world on a subscription and advertising supported basis.

    The initial JumpTV offering on Joost will feature programming regularly gathered from JumpTV’s digitally rights compliant international television roster. The first JumpTV “channels” on Joost will feature Spanish-language series from Colombia, Chile and Peru, in addition to Arabic-language comedy, drama and news programs from some of the leading broadcasters in the Middle East.

     
    JumpTV will be adding new programming on a daily or weekly basis, and intends to launch several more channels on Joost in other languages, including but not limited to Romanian, Turkish, Russian and Bengali.

    The partnership between Joost and JumpTV involves sharing of advertising revenues on the JumpTV-branded channels.

    MUMBAI: JumpTV Inc. (www.jumptv.com), broadcaster of ethnic television over the Internet, has announced that the company has ended the year 2006 with 254 channel partnerships, is consummating the previously announced acquisition of Sports International Group and made several management appointments for 2007.

    JumpTV announced the signing of exclusive agreements with 12 new television channels before year-end bringing the total number of channels under license at 31 December 2006 to 254.

    The 12 new channels will be individually priced at US$9.95 per month when launched commercially, and some will become part of country/region-specific channel bundles at later dates. Banglavision will soon be included in JumpTV’s newly-launched Bangla Package of channels, which currently includes top Bangladeshi channels; Channel i, NTV Bangla and RTV Bangla. The addition of the 5 Pakistani and 2 Nigerian channels brings JumpTV’s Pakistani and Nigerian channel lineup to 9 channels and 3 channels respectively, and bundles will be launched for each of these countries soon, informs an official release.

    JumpTV International president and chief executive officer Kaleil Isaza Tuzman stated, “JumpTV is laser-focused on successfully executing against our three-phased strategy which began with (a) channel acquisition, followed by (b) building the best user experience for live video on the web and will be completed by (c) our subscriber acquisition efforts.

    The company’s board of directors has also announced that Kaleil Isaza Tuzman has been appointed of as president and chief operating officer of JumpTV Inc. He will however, continue to serve as president and chief executive officer of JumpTV International, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary.

    Alex Blum, who had previously held the position of president and chief operating officer of JumpTV Inc., will continue with the Company through the end of January to help facilitate the transition after which time he will serve on JumpTV’s Advisory Board and assume his new role as chief executive officer of a social networking and user generated content application service provider based in New York, adds the release.

    In addition, several other management appointments have been made to the team. JumpTV chairman and chief executive officer G. Scott Paterson said, “We have built an incredibly strong team of executives with global reach and experience. When I became CEO in May 2005, we had only seven exclusive channel partnerships and no third-party marketing/distribution relationships. Under Kaleil Isaza Tuzman’s leadership and tireless efforts, we have become the single largest carrier of ethnic television in the world with more than 250 exclusive channel agreements today, top-notch sports content and world-leading marketing/distribution partners. The board of directors and I are confident that in Kaleil’s expanded role he will provide the day-to-day leadership for our Company to achieve our objectives for 2007 and beyond.”

    In addition, JumpTV has previously announced the acquisition of Sports International Group LLC (SIG), the owner of www.SportsYa.com. The company anticipates closing the transaction no later than 8 January 2007.

    Former SIG CEO and majority shareholder Daniel Canel has become Chairman of JumpTV’s Latin American business unit, and will contribute materially to the company’s overall sports and corporate development initiatives.

    Pursuant to the acquisition, the company has issued 521,345 of its Common Shares. Application has been made to the London Stock Exchange for these shares to be admitted to AIM, such shares are expected to be admitted to AIM on 9 January 2007, adds the release.

    MUMBAI: Jump TV, a global player in the delivery of international television over the internet, has added three more channels to its basket of Indian channels. The online television platform player will be offering general entertainment channel SaharaOne TV, movie channel Filmy and a news channel Sahara Samay. 

    Recently, SaharaOne Media and Entertainment had entered into a long term deal with New York based broadcast distribution outfit GloboSat Entertainment in order to help the company launch its channel services at various countries.

    Sahara One, Sahara Samay and Sahara Filmy will be priced individually at US$9.95 per month when launched commercially and will likely become part of a future bundle of South Asian channels, according to an official release. 

    JumpTV, at present, offers other Indian channels such as Sony, India TV, Amitra TV, Kairali TV, People TV, Punjab Today and Balle Balle.

    JumpTV International president and chief executive officer Kaleil Isaza Tuzman said, “Hindi is the fifth most spoken language in the world. The addition of these channels makes it easier for the millions of Hindi speaking people living outside South Asia to remain connected to the television programming they know and love from home.”

    JumpTV Asia-Pacific group general manager Kevin Foong said, “JumpTV remains focused on securing the global IP rights to top channels in key regions worldwide.     MUMBAI: In a bid to garner international subscription revenues and also expand its footprint in UK and Europe, SaharaOne Media and Entertainment has entered into a long term deal with New York based broadcast distribution outfit GloboSat Entertainment in order to help the company launch its channel services at various countries.

    SaharaOne Media and Entertainment CEO Shantonu Aditya says, “Through the association with GloboSat Entertainment, we are looking forward to the expansion of our channels in newer markets through this partnership so as to entertain our viewers worldwide.”

    The company is also eyeing broadband as well as mobile platforms in the US. GloboSat Entertainment is said to be in talks with a couple of moblie companies in this regard.

    One such company that the GloboSat is talking to for carrying the two Sahara channels (Sahara One and Filmy) is US based made for mobile company Ithentic.

    The channels will soon be on JumpTV, the subscription-based broadcaster of ethnic television over the internet. JumpTV already streams other Indian channels SET, India TV News, Kairali TV, People TV and Amrita TV.

    The media company will soon launch the channels SaharaOne and Filmy in UK and Europe. The two channels will soon be visible in Bangladesh as well. The channels will also be accessible on Rogers Cable in Canada.

    The general entertainment channel SaharaOne already has its presence in US on Echostar. And the movie channel Filmy is offered on DirecTV, the other DTH platform in US controlled by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

    The two channels have recently been launched in Nepal and Maldives. The company now plans to push SaharaOne in the Middle-East, where the movie channel has already made its entry via the Pehla platform.

    The company is also targeting to push the two channels in Africa as well as in Australia in due course.

    MUMBAI: JumpTV Inc., the global broadcaster of ethnic television over the internet, has signed exclusive internet-broadcast distribution agreements with four Indian television channels specialising in news, current events, politics and entertainment.

    Hindi news channel India TV along with Malayalam television channels Kairali TV, People TV and Amrita TV have ‘jumped’ into the bandwagon now. Each channel will be priced at US$9.95 per month when launched commercially and at a later date will likely make up components of an Indian and/or South Asian bundle.

    These new contracts that have been signed subsequent to the company’s 30 June 2006 quarter end disclosure. JumpTV now has 209 channels under license, informs an official release.

    President and chief executive officer of JumpTV International Kaleil Isaza Tuzman stated, “With more than 15 million people of Indian origin living outside of the sub-continent — more than half of whom live in countries with high-broadband penetration such as the UK, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and the UAE — we believe there is a massive global market for these channels.”

    JumpTV’s Asia-Pacific director Vinod Kumar adds, “We are pleased to add such valuable partners as India TV News, Kairali TV, People TV and Amrita TV to JumpTV’s growing channel lineup.     Early this June, JumpTV had entered into an exclusive agreement to begin offering Sony Entertainment Television Asia (SET Asia) in North America via internet.

    MUMBAI: Online television network JumpTV has commercially launched Punjab Today, India’s first, regional 24-hour news channel, and the music channel Balle Balle.

    For a monthly subscription of $9.95 each, all news and entertainment reports from India can now be accessed to both stations on the internet- enabled device of their choice. JumpTV subscribers worldwide can now watch around-the-clock news coverage on Punjab Today. Some of the station’s top-rated programs include: Khabran Bollywood Diyan, a weekly show discussing the major happenings in Bollywood; the political program Siyasi Halcha and Sohna Punjab, focusing on Punjab’s heritage and culture.

    Additionally, with the commercial launch of Balle Balle, the latest Punjabi and Hindi music videos are now available to JumpTV’s subscribers. The channel features interviews with Bollywood personalities, sneak previews and an excellent mix of entertainment shows including, Inbox, Hafta Vasool, Non Stop Hits and Hip Hop.

    MUMBAI: JumpTV, a global player in the delivery of international television over the internet, has entered into a strategic partnership with Cutting Edge Media, one of India’s independent media sales company, to expand JumpTV’s presence in South Asia.

    JumpTV will work with Cutting Edge Media to secure new broadcast agreements using internet protocol; enter into distribution agreements for JumpTV’s global TV roster with Indian cable, mobile telephony, and IPTV providers and build on JumpTV’s existing menu of South Asian television content.

    Currently, JumpTV has signed internet-broadcast agreements with Indian channels: Sony Entertainment Television Asia, India TV, Punjab Today and Balle Balle.

    Other South Asian channels the company has roped in are: OnTV, Channel i, RTV from Bangladesh;TV One and HumTV from Pakistan.

    MUMBAI: The Toronto based JumpTV which provides ethnic television over the Internet, announced that it has signed 11 new exclusive internet broadcast agreements with channels from Pakistan, Thailand, Lebanon, Nigeria and Benin, expanding its network to 270 channels under license.

    Channels signed include: ORTB (Benin), Channels TV, Lagos TV and MiTV (Nigeria), Zam TV and Rung TV (Pakistan), Popper, Rak Thai TV, Panorama 07 and Thai Cable Channel (Thailand) and Mlive (Lebanon).

    The 11 new channels are expected to be individually priced at $9.95 per month when launched commercially, and some will become part of country/region-specific channel bundles at later dates. The addition of the three Nigerian, four Thai and two Pakistani channels brings JumpTV’s Nigerian, Thai and Pakistani channel lineup to seven channels, nine channels and 12 channels respectively, and bundles will be launched for each of these countries soon. The additional Lebanese channel is to be included in JumpTV’s Pan Arab Package, which currently includes 23 top Arab channels for $29.95 per month.

    Commenting on the partnership with JumpTV, ORTB general director M. Julien Pierre Akpaki said, “JumpTV is enabling ORTB to grow from a number one national channel that is available in Benin only to a global channel overnight. Since a majority of our programming is in French, we believe there is a real market for our content not only among the people of Benin, but anyone interested in West African television.”

    MUMBAI: JumpTV has entered into an exclusive agreement to begin offering Sony Entertainment Television Asia (SET Asia) in North America via the Internet. 

    The global internet-television network JumpTV streams live, high-quality international television signals via its website from stations in more than 60 countries. The subscribers can access their favorite channels from any Internet- enabled device including home computers, laptops, internet-enabled televisions, mobile phones and video game consoles, informs an official release.

    Through JumpTV, SET Asia is now available for US$14.95 a month for a high- speed connection, with an upgrade option for an ultra bandwidth version, which runs at 1 Mbps and produces one of the highest resolution streams available on the internet.

    SET Asia features some shows as: the love story Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai and Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, the Hindi adaptation of Juana La Virgen. 

    Additionally, the channel is bringing in a whole host of new programs including Aisa Des Hai Mera, Thodi Kushi Thode Gham and Rishton Ki Dorr, states an official release.

    “Sony Entertainment Television Asia has been exploring new technology platforms to deliver our content over the Internet. We knew that with millions of South Asians living abroad, there was a tremendous opportunity and untapped market of more tech savvy South Asians in the US and Canada,” said SET Asia executive VP international business Rajan Singh.
