    Mumbai wins early access screening of ‘The Beekeeper’ at PVR Juhu

    Mumbai: The spotlight is on Mumbai as it emerges triumphant in a nationwide voting contest for PVR INOX’s early access show of The Beekeeper, granting its residents the privilege of an early encounter with Jason Statham in David Ayer’s adrenaline-packed thriller. Movie enthusiasts in Mumbai will be the first in the world to witness Jason Statham’s return as Adam Clay on the grand cinematic canvas. The exclusive screening is set to premiere on Wednesday, 17 January 2024, at 5:00 pm, hosted at PVR Juhu, Mumbai. In a delightful bonus, each ticket purchased will come with a complimentary popcorn tub, and patrons stand a chance to win exciting movie merchandise.     Directed by David Ayer, ‘The Beekeeper’ follows Jason Statham’s character, Adam Clay, on a relentless quest for retribution after his covert ties to the formidable “Beekeepers” organization are exposed. The movie, written by Kurt Wimmer, boasts an ensemble cast including Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Josh Hutcherson, among others.     Oscars unveils stellar line-up of presenters

    MUMBAI: This year’s Oscars will see a stellar line-up of presenters. 

     

    From Josh Hutcherson, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Saldana, Octavia Spencer, Marion Cotillard, Benedict Cumberbatch, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey to Lupita Nyong’o, the who’s who of Hollywood will take to the stage to present various awards this year.

     

    Cotillard, Cumberbatch, Streep, Winfrey and Witherspoon have all been nominated for the Oscars this year. Cotillard is nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for Two Days, One Night. She previously won an Oscar in this category for La Vie en Rose (2007). On the other hand, Cumberbatch is nominated for Actor in a Leading Role for The Imitation Game.

     

    Streep earned a record 19th acting nomination this year for her supporting role in Into the Woods. She previously took home Oscars for her lead performances in Sophie’s Choice (1982) and The Iron Lady (2011), and her supporting performance in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). Streep’s previous Best Actress nominations were for The French Lieutenant’s Woman (1981), Silkwood (1983), Out of Africa (1985), Ironweed (1987), A Cry in the Dark (1988), Postcards from the Edge (1990), The Bridges of Madison County (1995), One True Thing (1998), Music of the Heart (1999), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Doubt (2008), Julie & Julia (2009) and August: Osage County (2013).     Winfrey is nominated for Best Picture as one of the producers of Selma. She was previously nominated for Actress in a Supporting Role for The Color Purple (1985). She received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2011.

     

    Witherspoon is nominated for Actress in a Leading Role for Wild. She previously won an Oscar in this category for the 2005 movie Walk the Line.

     

    Additionally, last year’s Oscar winners Blanchett, Leto, McConaughey and Nyong’o will also be seen presenting awards this year. “The great tradition of having the previous year’s Oscar-winning best actors and actresses in all four categories happily continues this year with the amazing quartet of Cate, Jared, Matthew and Lupita. We’re thrilled to have them back,” said show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

     

    Blanchett has been nominated for six Oscars and has won two, including last year’s award for Blue Jasmine. Her previous win was for Actress in a Supporting Role for the 2004 film The Aviator. Blanchett also received leading actress nominations for Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007), and supporting actress nominations for Notes on a Scandal (2006) and I’m Not There (2007).

     

    Last year, Leto won the Oscar for Actor in a Supporting Role and McConaughey for Actor in a Leading Role, both for Dallas Buyer’s Club. Nyong’o took home the Oscar for Actress in a Supporting Role for 12 Years a Slave.

     

    The Oscars will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and will be held on 22 February.

    MUMBAI: MTV today added Hollywood A-Listers Jared Leto, Megan Fox, Jordana Brewster and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, as well as musician Rita Ora to its already star-studded line-up of presenters for the “2014 MTV Movie Awards.” Hosted by late night host and comedian Conan O’Brien, the show will air LIVE on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 6:30 am IST and a primetime repeat at 9:00pm IST from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles exclusively on Vh1.

     

    In addition, it is also confirmed that nominees Orlando Bloom, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Johnny Knoxville and Ice Cube will attend the show.

    MUMBAI: This November, Universal Pictures will bring The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to India as it gets a date set for 29th. Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, the dark adventure is the sequel to the first one – The Hunger Games.

     

    The movie directed by Francis Lawrence will be released in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. This movie follows the characters’ life post the first movie. After they have returned home from the Annual Hunger Games they have to leave their family and close friends. Now the Capitol is preparing for the next edition of the games.

     

    The movie will release only one week post the worldwide launch which is on 22 November. The first movie became a blockbuster hit worldwide and the third and fourth in the series are already in the making, slated for releasing in the next two years.

    NEW DELHI: ‘EPIC‘ has garnered the fifth biggest animation opening for India for Fox Star, who earlier saw a tremendous run of their prehistoric fun family film ‘The Croods‘.

    Released in India a week ahead of its international release, Epic has opened to Rs 3.6 crore gross box office in India (Rs 2.52 crore net) despite a crowded box office with simultaneous releases of high profile Hollywood releases such Amitabh Bachchan‘s ‘The Great Gatsby‘ and Mira Nair‘s ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist‘ whose figures are far behind those of Epic.

    This is the 5th biggest animation opening in India after Ice Age 4, Kung Fu Panda 2, Madagascar 3 and The Croods. Boosted by critical and popular acclaim, the stunning 3D comedy-fantasy adventure has triggered a phenomenal word of mouth for its family content and visual banquet.

    MUMBAI: 250 children from St. Catherine’s Home wore the broadest smiles on Sunday evening. And there was more than one reason for all the good cheer. The ‘Fun Day’ event organized by Fun Republic Cinemas kept the children enthralled throughout.

    Sushmita Sen along with daughter Renee were present to promote the adventure animation flick ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ which explores the wonders of friendship, family and fantasy. The movie stars Josh Hutcherson, Annasophia Robb, Zooey Deschanel, Robert Patrick, Bailey Madison and Kate Butler. The 95 minute adventure is directed by Gabor Csupo, a world-renowned animation artist. The screenplay by Jeff Stockwell and David Paterson is based on the award-winning novel by Katherine Paterson.

    Speaking at the event Fun Republic vice preseident, marketing Vishal Anand said, “We organized this Fun Day at Fun Republic, to take forward our aim to be the ideal out-of-home entertainment destination. The kids could play, sing, dance and share some special moments with Sushmita Sen and her daughter Renee.     The event also acted as a pre-birthday bash for Barbie. The Mattel owned Barbie celebrates her birthday on 9 March. The children were also given a chance to get creative with personalized cards for Barbie’s birthday.

    The day long event featured a dance session and a magic show. This was followed by the actress gifting Barbie dolls to the kids and their teachers. The evening also saw a special screening of Bridge to Terabithia which released nation wide on 16 February

    The Barbie merchandise showcased at the event included Barbie career dolls – as a Doctor, an Art Teacher, a Baby Photographer and a Pet Sitter. These dolls highlight the values of caring, nurturing, and self confidence, encouraging every girl to dream and have the courage to make her dreams come true. Mattel owned doll aims to spread the message of ‘Be who you want to be… with Barbie’.
