    Mzaalo partners with Jio to deliver digital entertainment to rural India

    Mumbai: Gamified video and entertainment ecosystem Mazaalo has announced its strategic partnership with Jio. Through this partnership, Mzaalo’s content catalogue and rewards ecosystem will be available on Jio’s low-cost phones and will be freely accessible for millions of rural Indians most of whom are first-time internet users.

    Mzaalo app will be native in the JioStore for all JioPhones powered by KaiOS. 150 million+ low-cost Jio phone users will have access to the app’s library of 12,000+ content pieces including Bollywood films, regional cinema, original series, and music videos. They will also have an opportunity to earn rewards across 600+ brand partners, said the statement.

    “As internet penetration grows deeper across India, there is a growing demand for quality online video streaming content,” said Mzaalo COO Vikram Tanna. “The collaboration with Jio enables us to expand our digital footprint and democratise digital entertainment for the Indian hinterland.”

    The Indian hinterland – the remote parts of the country comprise about 65 per cent of India’s population, nearly 900 million people. While mobile services have reached this population, it is not as widespread as it is in urban cities. This partnership between Mzaalo and Jio will provide a new opportunity for those who do not have access to the mobile phone economy.

    In addition to this partnership, Mzaalo has also been chosen to join the Jio Developers Build for Bharat Growth Pad Program. As a member, Mzaalo and its community will receive special program benefits like first market access program, year-round technical support from Jio, an exclusive community of leaders for mentorship within Jio’s rich leadership ecosystem, JioAds credits, tools and services, training on Jio Developer Tools, and more.

    Reliance Jio brings new recharge plans for JioPhone users

    MUMBAI: Reliance Jio has launched new 'All-In-One' monthly plans for JioPhone users. The new plan will give JioPhone user unlimited plans with all services in a single plan. It also offers a new bonanza for data users by doubling users data by paying only ₹30.

    In a release, Jio said the ₹75 recharge plan is the cheapest one in the market that comes with unlimited voice and data. According to Livemint report, Jio had recently launched a similar 'All-In-One' plans of ₹222, ₹333, ₹444 and ₹55wo5 which offers both data and voice calls.

    The report said, “During the Diwali festival season, Jio has reduced the price of its JioPhone model by over 50% to ₹699. Those buying a new JioPhone under the Diwali 2019 offer and recharging it with at least ₹99 will get free data benefits valued at approximately ₹700. For the first seven recharges, Jio has promised to offer ₹99 worth of free data.”

    MUMBAI: Saavn Media Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited (“RIL”), today launched JioSaavn, South Asia’s largest streaming, entertainment and artist platform. JioSaavn represents the official integration of JioMusic, India’s most popular music app, and Saavn, India’s leading global over-the-top platform. The new integrated JioSaavn app will be available across all App Stores including the Jio app store, on JioPhone, as well as, at www.jio.com/jiosaavn.

    As announced in March 2018 at the time of acquisition of Saavn by Reliance Industries Ltd, the implied valuation of the combined entity at over US$1 billion makes it the most valuable music streaming platform in South Asia, and among the most popular in the world.

    JioSaavn combines the streaming media expertise of Saavn with Jio’s digital services ecosystem. Jio is India’s largest digital services network with over 252 million subscribers. The integrated app has a massive addressable market opportunity both in India as well as for the Indian diaspora.

    With the integrated JioSaavn app, users can expect a suite of new in-app products and music experiences, including an interactive lyrics feature, localized vernacular display, custom integrations with concerts and live events, as well as exclusive video content to roll out over the next few months.

    The service will be offered on a freemium model in India with all users having access to the ad-supported product. Jio subscribers would enjoy seamless access to the integrated app. Additionally, as part of this launch, Jio users will also get a 90-day extended free trial of JioSaavn Pro, the streaming service’s premium product.

  • Mukesh Ambani offers JioPhone from 15 Aug

    MUMBAI: At the 40th AGM on Friday, Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani introduced ‘India Ka Smartphone’ – the JioPhone. It is said to be a 4G-enabled cost-efficient feature phone, which works on voice commands. Announcing the launch, Ambani’s daughter Esha said, “It is made in India by the young Indian.” 

    She said that Jio would provide that at an effective price of Rs 153 per month, that is, three per cent of the existing price. If these users were to consume a similar quantity of data on other operator’s network, they would spend Rs 4,000 – 5,000 per month.

    The launch is likely to further change the landscape of how people consume video content in India. The OTT space is likely to get a major push and RIL has already announced buying a stake in Balaji Telefilms.
