    MUMBAI: THQ Inc., worldwide developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software, has announced that Nicktoons Unite! for the PlayStation2 computer entertainment system has been added to Sony Computer Entertainment America’s ‘Greatest Hits’ collection.

    Nicktoons Unite! features characters from some of the popular Nickelodeon animated shows including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron and Danny Phantom. It is now available at retailers throughout North America for the new suggested retail price of $19.99, informs an official release.

    “We are delighted with the phenomenal success of Nicktoons Unite! and the game’s recent achievement of this significant retail milestone,” said THQ senior vice president of sales and distribution Scott Guthrie. “The new reduced price point will allow even more families to interact with these beloved Nickelodeon characters from some of the top-rated animated kid’s television shows.”

    “The success of Nicktoons Unite! is a testament to the strength of the Nicktoons roster of amazing characters as well as the great creativity of THQ,” said Nickelodeon vice president of digital products Shaul Olmert. “It’s great to see the game and our characters embraced by gamers as an all-time favorite.”

    The Nicktoons video game originally launched in October 2005 and has shipped more than one million copies across multiple platforms worldwide, adds the release.

    Nick selects best buddy duo to win ‘Masti Dosti’ contest

    MUMBAI: Nick’s month long contest titled ‘Masti Dosti’ culminated with the announcement of Arshaan Maloo as the winner. The Mumbai kid Arshaan and his best friend Sushant Adlakha were selected as the lucky pair to take home the grand prize of goodies. What’s more, the duo will also be featured on a special Nick Promo with Spongebob and his best friend Patrick on the channel.

    Participating kids could win big not only for themselves but also their friends by watching back-to-back episodes of Nick’s characters and best buds Spongebob and Patrick, Ninja Hattori and Kenny Chee and Munnabhai and Circuit, spot the prizes on air and report them to the channel, states an official release.

    Apart from the two winners, other kids who participated in the contest also won prizes like remote controlled cars, Gameboys, DVD players, cell phones, MP3 players, discmans and rollerblades – all in pairs!

    Winner, Arshaan Maloo (next to Patrick Star), age 11, is a die hard Spongebob Squarepants fan, he also loves watching Drake and Josh and Jimmy Neutron on Nick. Speaking about his best friend Sushant Adlakha, Arshaan recalls the time when he fractured his right hand in the 5th grade and Sushant helped him out by packing his bag and doing his home-work for him, thus literally becoming his right hand man…. ‘Just what Patrick is for Sponge bob’, chuckles the 11 yr old.

    “Boss, dost ho toh aisa…”, added Arshaan.

    Nickelodeon inks deal with Movie Park Germany to set up theme park ‘Nickland’

    MUMBAI: Nickelodeon and Movie Park Germany, a film and entertainment theme park, have signed a multi-year strategic partnership to bring Nickelodeon’s animated children’s television programs to life in a 50,000 square feet interactive adventure zone called Nickland.

    Scheduled to open in April 2007 at Movie Park Germany, Nickland will feature seven new attractions and will be the first Nick- themed adventure site in Europe.

    Also inclusive within the new partnership, Nickelodeon and Movie Park Germany will create co-branded promotions and marketing campaigns; develop licensing and merchandising programs within the park and increase advertising on Nickelodeon’s kid’s channel, Nick in Germany.

    This agreement grants Movie Park Germany theme park rights to use Nickelodeon’s characters and intellectual properties, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron, Dora The Explorer, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom and The Backyardigans, at its theme park. The first two attractions to premiere will be Jimmy Neutron’s ‘Atomic Flyer,’ a suspended coaster and ‘Splash Bash,’ a romp through the undersea world of SpongeBob SquarePants, informs an official release.

    Nickelodeon costumed-characters including SpongeBob, Patrick, Dora the Explorer and Jimmy Neutron, will be on-site at the park.

    “Nickelodeon and Movie Parks Germany epitomize kids, families and fun, and together we are exceptionally well positioned to create an innovative, bespoke destination for German kids,” commented Nick and Comedy Central, Germany vice president Markus Andorfer. “NICK has the highest brand affinity among kids in Germany and Nickland at Movie Parks will serve the same objectives, where kids come first and have fun.”

    MTV Networks launches Viacom Brand Solutions through Xbox 360

    NEW DELHI: MTV India and Microsoft Entertainment & Devices Division have joined forces to develop unique programming content for Xbox 360, the online gaming service across its three channels – MTV, Vh1 and Nick.

    This tie-up also marks the launch of MTV Networks’ ‘Viacom Brand Solutions’ in India, which offers customized, integrated marketing solutions for brands to connect with their audiences in a manner that’s innovative and relevant, informs an official release.

    Whether its commercials, exclusively developed shows, infomercials or video-mods (to be introduced for the first time in India), gaming enthusiasts as well as those who’ve always wanted to learn more about gaming can look forward to some exciting action on air starting September first week.

    The new programming content on MTV Network channels developed specifically for Xbox 360 will include: a specially developed 105-second thematic spot – Porok (conceptualized, scripted and produced by MTV) to be on MTV.

    The release states that a special genre of programming makes its way onto Vh1 with Video Mods – an absolute treat for diehard gaming enthusiasts. Vh1 will launch a unique infomercial Gamers Grammar.

    Nick will include a special section Jimmy’s Techno Tips on one of its popular shows – Jimmy Neutron. Further, Nick will also launch vignettes on gaming Vox Pops and X Factor.

    And finally, as Microsoft launches Xbox on 23 September, MTV will go live to cover the event.

    Xbox 360(tm) will make its debut in the Indian market in the pre-Diwali season this year. The Xbox 360 system will come fully loaded with a 20GB detachable Xbox 360 Hard Drive for storing music, video and games, an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, an Xbox 360 Media Remote control and a Component HD-AV Cable for connecting to component and composite television inputs, an Ethernet cable, and batteries, according to the release.

    MTV launches Nick block on Malaysian broadcaster TV9

    MUMBAI: MTV Asia has launched a Nickelodeon block on Malaysia’s terrestrial television channel, TV9. Branded as Nick di 9, it will reach over seven million households in Malaysia.

    Nickelodeon’s properties include SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Dubbed in Bahasa Melayu, Nick di 9 will be aired daily for three hours from 3pm to 6pm. Now kids in Malaysia can also enjoy these award-winning pre-school shows including Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer on Mondays to Thursday; while from Friday to Sundays, they can look forward to hilarious fun with Nicktoons like SpongeBob SquarePants and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.

    TV 9 is Malaysia’s first free-to-air channel to provide an uninterrupted kids’ block 7 days a week. With the tagline Dekat di Hati, TV9 is the Malay channel targeting to Malays who strongly associate themselves with positive values.
