    T-Hub appoints ex-OYO executive as new CEO

    HYDERABAD — Hyderabad-based start up incubator T-Hub has appointed Kavikrut as its new chief executive officer, the Telangana government  announced today.

    Kavikrut, who previously served as chief growth officer at OYO for 10 years, will take up his new role on 10 March. During his tenure at OYO, he was instrumental in expanding the company’s operations across more than 100 cities in India and spearheaded its expansion into Japan in 2018 through partnerships with Yahoo! Japan and SoftBank.

    The appointment reinforces Telangana’s commitment to strengthening its position as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. T-Hub has supported over 2,000 startups to date through its programmes, providing global market access and industry collaborations.

    Telangana government special chief secretary for information technology, electronics & communications and industries & commerce departments Jayesh Ranjan said: “Kavikrut’s passion for startups, global experience, and hands-on operational skills make him the ideal leader for T-Hub.”

    Before his role at OYO, Kavikrut began his career as a healthcare startup founder and held positions at Amazon and Piramal Group. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MSc in Finance from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.

    Upon his appointment, Kavikrut, who hails from Hyderabad, expressed enthusiasm about returning to his hometown: “I am excited by the potential of Hyderabad as it steadily grows into a hub for startups building products and services from India for the world.”

    T-Hub aims to continue fostering entrepreneurship through mentorship, funding opportunities, and strategic support under its new leadership.

    MUMBAI: Procter & Gamble (P&G) in partnership with WE Hub, the first-of-its-kind state-run platform for Women Entrepreneurs, recently concluded its first Telangana edition of vGROW Summit. vGROW is P&G’s first-of-its-kind platform to identify and collaborate with businesses and individuals offering innovative industry-leading solutions. Three startups were selected to pilot innovative digitisation and energy optimisation solutions at P&G’s Hyderabad plant that manufactures Ariel®, Tide® and Pampers®. This partnership is in line with P&G’s commitment to invest in Indian startups and inclusive growth.

    More than 55 startups, from across India, applied through WE Hub. The shortlisted applicants were then given an opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions at P&G’s vGROW Summit held at WE Hub office in Hyderabad. Out of these, three startups will now be piloting their solutions at P&G’s Hyderabad manufacturing plant.

    Principal secretary to IT E & C Department Jayesh Ranjan said, “It is encouraging to see organisations like P&G and initiatives like vGROW supporting the startups in the country. Partnerships like these will help create an ecosystem for inclusive growth.”

    NEW DELHI: The Telangana Intellectual Property Crime Unit (TIPCU), which has been in the planning for almost five years, is being formally launched this week in Hyderabad to create a sustained platform to bridge communication between industry stakeholders, ISPs, policy makers, enforcement agencies aided by legal and financial experts to fight software piracy.

    TIPCU has been set up by the Telangana government in collaboration with the United States Trade Marks and Patents Office (USTPO), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Telugu Film Industry and the Motion Picture Distributors Association (MPDA, India).

    State IT minister K T Rama Rao and United States Ambassador Richard Rahul Verma will formally launch TIPCU on 24 June at a meet followed by a discussion on the copyright enforcement model by key government officials and senior industry leaders.

    TIPCU will set in motion, online content protection initiatives through proactive and stringent enforcement measures to counter online film piracy.

    Rajiv Aggarwal, Joint Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Central Government which now deals with IPR issues and state IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan will also speak on the occasion. Several filmmakers are also expected to speak at the event.

    TIPCU will create a watch list of pirate websites similar to the IWL (Infringing Website List) of the British PIPCU at regular intervals; evolve mechanisms to counter online film piracy; and create an industry interface for sharing of intelligence on such syndicates.

    It will work on effective measures to curb flow of revenues to infringing sites; and monitor high risk (Ad-supported) websites and initiate suitable actions to choke revenues to such sites. It will bring down and block infringing links, websites, hosting and streaming sites; provide immediate relief to the film Industry without having to obtain Court orders; and systematically eradicate pirate websites and platforms illegally hosting or streaming copyright content.

    It will also evolve enforcement mechanisms to align with the ever-changing digital content landscape and criminal syndicates operating therein.
