    SPN India to broadcast ‘El Clásico’ at prime time on 3 Dec

    MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) is all set to broadcast one of the most anticipated matches between Spain’s fiercest rivals — FC Barcelona and Real Madrid – El Clásico.

    The coverage will be simulcast at primetime in India on 3 December at 8:15 pm on Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN & Sony ESPN HD as well as on the SonyLIV app and website. To enhance the experience of the highly-anticipated clash, SPN has innovated with a wraparound show that will be broadcast live from the Fan Park at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi.

    The segment called the ‘El Clásico Show’ will be helmed by the former LaLiga star Luis Garcia along with host, Marc Edwards. It will showcase Luis Garcia reviewing the pre and post-analysis of the anticipated game before the kick-off until the end.

    The show will commence at 8:15 pm, followed by the half time analysis of 15 minutes and will conclude with a 20-minute post-match review. The ‘El Clásico Show’ will also be streamed live on SonyLIV app and website for digital audiences.

    Sony Pictures Network distribution and sports business president Rajesh Kaul said, “For the first time in India, viewers will get to see Barcelona and Real Madrid at prime time. As a sports network, we have amplified the experience for the fans by not only giving them a prime time viewing experience but also giving fans an opportunity of being a part of the live screening of the match in Mumbai and Delhi for the first time with La Liga stars — Luis Garcia & Frederic Kanoute.”

    Govt finalises details for hosting of Under-17 FIFA World Cup 2017 in India

    New Delhi, 25 March: The Union Cabinet has given its approval with regard to holding of Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Under-17 World Cup to be held in India in 2017.

    In a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a committee comprising Department of Sports Secretary; Director General of the Sports Authority of India; and Financial Adviser in the Department of Sports has been authorized to make necessary adjustments for any changes in venues to remove difficulties in consultation with All India Football Federation (AIFF) /FIFA.

    Expenditure towards overlays and equipment including display boards, etc., may be incurred, the Cabinet said but the total cost will be within Rs.95 crore as approved earlier. In the eventuality of any additional requirement of funds, the Department of Sports will take up the matter with the Department of Expenditure.

    The Sports Ministry was authorized to constitute an Organizing Committee for conduct of the event.

    The Cabinet decided that the venues will be Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi; D Y Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai; Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi; Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata; Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda Goa; and I G Stadium, Guwahati.

    DEN’s Delhi team of ISL named Delhi Dynamos FC

    MUMBAI: In this season of football frenzy, the national capital is seeing the birth of its very own football movement. DEN Soccer a wholly owned subsidiary of DEN Networks announced the launch of the Delhi Dynamos FC, the Delhi franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL).

     

    DEN also announced its alliance with Feyenoord Rotterdam -a leading football club and academy from the Netherlands. Feyenoord’s football academy has been voted as the best academy in the Netherlands for five successive years. According to the CIES Football Observatory, Feyenoord is the world number one in player development for this year’s FIFA World Cup. As part of the alliance with DEN, Feyenoord will share its immense knowledge of the sport and assist the Delhi Dynamos in overall development of its team in addition to providing world class players and technical staff.

     

    The name Delhi Dynamos represents the very essence of what is intrinsic to all Dilliwallahs and the beautiful game of football. The anthem of the team captures the diversity and the raw energy of Delhi.

     

    DEN aims to create a robust football ecosystem in Delhi and north India along with giving them a team they can support with pride.  The team name, the team philosophy, anthem and the Delhi Dynamos’ alliance with Feyenoord Rotterdam were unveiled at an event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the home stadium of the Dynamos. The stadium is getting a brand new world-class football pitch in preparation for hosting the Delhi home matches of the ISL.
