    Green giants crowned at IAA Olive Crown Awards, sustainability gets the spotlight

    MUMBAI: Mumbai’s glitterati gathered at the ITC Grand Central on 4 April for the 15th IAA Olive Crown Awards, where sustainability champions were given a right royal pat on the back. Forget your garden-variety awards show; this was a green jamboree, a veritable eco-extravaganza.

    Packmate Grrreen LLP sprouted as “Green Brand of the Year,” proving they’re not just leafing around when it comes to eco-consciousness. RK Swamy reaped a harvest of four Olive Crowns, including “Green Agency of the Year,” showing it’s  not just another agency, it’s a green machine.

    Adani Enterprises Ltd and Ogilvy struck gold, bagging multiple awards, including the coveted “Corporate Crusader of the Year” for their campaign, “Pehle Pankha Aayega, Phir Bijli Aayegi” (“First the fan, then the electricity”). Turns out, the company is  not just blowing hot air. Eastern Media Ltd and Reliance Foundation shared the “Green Campaign of the Year” gold, proving that when it comes to saving the planet, two’s company.

    Dharmesh Barai, the man who makes mangroves look marvellous, was crowned “Green Crusader of the Year” for his Herculean efforts in cleaning up Maharashtra’s coastlines. He’s not just cleaning up, he’s cleaning up good. Earth Brigade Foundation bagged gold for “Green NGO of the Year,” proving it’s not consisting of  just a bunch of tree-huggers, it’s  making a real difference.

    Rahul Narwekar, honourable speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, graced the event, praising the IAA for their long-standing commitment to sustainability. “They took up this initiative when sustainability was perhaps not a known concept the way it is today,” he said, adding that the IAA has helped to drive the thought of sustainability through young minds, old minds and people at large.

    IAA India chapter  president Abhishek Karnani stated, “Sustainability is no longer a choice, it is a responsibility,” and that the IAA is heartened to see corporates, advertising agencies, and media houses doing the same.

    A special award for “Best Continuing Effort” was given to The Bhamla Foundation and Hungama Digital Media for their “Bhoomi Namaskar” campaign, proving that consistency is key when it comes to saving the planet.
    And for the IMC and IAA campaign, Ogilvy, with Rahul Rudra and Abhishek Kaddi’s “Pinky Promise” campaign, took home the win.

    The event, a veritable who’s who of the advertising and marketing world, was sponsored by Deepak Builders & Developers, Blue Star Ltd, Mobligent Media, and Awardor. It was a night of green glory, where the planet was the real winner

    Janak Sarda, Kranti Gada, Soumen Santara honoured at IAA World Congress Penang

    Mumbai: The IAA World Congress in Penang Malaysia got off to a rousing start with sustainability as the theme of the first day.

    Three members of the IAA India Chapter were honoured with special awards at the opening gala dinner.

    Janak Sarda was conferred the Global Champion award as a recognition of his contribution to the IAA global activities.

    Kranti Gada won the Young Leaders Award for the best contribution to the Young Professional movement among all the chapters of the IAA.

    Soumen Santara won the best Executive Director Award for the efficient role he has played in coordinating the many activities of the India Chapter.

    IAA India Chapter president Avinash Pandey said, “It is a proud day for India when so many of our colleagues are recognised as among the best in the IAA global environment. It is because of them that we are able to contribute so positively to the Marcom industry.”

    IAA and AFAA announce 14 Olive Crown Awards

    Mumbai: The India Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA) along with the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA) announced the 14 edition of the widely acclaimed Olive Crown Awards.

    IAA president Avinash Pandey Says, “These awards have grown from strength to strength. They salute those professionals in our industry who not just nurture the brands they advertise but also nurture Brand Earth.”

    AFAA chairman Srinivasan Swamy adds, “Launched initially at the GoaFest in April 2011, these awards have always signified intra-industry cooperation and collaboration. I am glad the response to these awards has been steadily growing from AFAA member countries across Asia”.

    Olive Crown Awards Committee chairman Janak Sarda says “For such meaningful work, there is no entry fee. The awards will be judged by an elite creative jury and presented in Mumbai in the first half of April. The wonderful creatives for the Call for Entries campaign have been made by Madison Loop senior creative director Vallabh Yeolkar.

    Mumbai: At its Annual General Meeting held on 27 September 2023, the following members were unanimously elected:

    Avinash Pandey (CEO, ABP Network) – President

    Abhishek Karnani (President, Free Press Journal Group)- Vice President

    Nandini Dias (Independent Advisor)- Hon. Secretary

    Jaideep Gandhi (Founder, Another Idea) – Hon. Treasurer

    The following five members were elected as voting members:

    M.V. Shreyams Kumar (Managing Director, Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co Ltd)

    Adds Pandey, “The India Chapter of the IAA is arguably the most active industry Association of its kind in the country. Its initiatives cover a wide spectrum of areas including saluting excellence in Marketing, Creativity and communicating Sustainability. In the year gone by, we also started Tech Pulse to cater to the growing digital market. The IAA has always maintained that what is good, is good for business and in that spirit it has converted its Voice of Change initiative into a nation-wide movement aimed at breaking the gender bias in advertising and the entertainment industry.

    In the year ahead we will also be spear-heading two initiatives where we walk the talk that Communication is a Force for Good, and will also once again lead a group of CEO’s to the USA to study the latest developments in communication.

    MUMBAI: At the annual International Advertising Association (IAA) Inspire awards to be held at Bucharest on 2 October 2018 with advertising and marketing leaders from all over the world in attendance, Viacom18 COO Raj Nayak and past president IAA India Chapter will be felicitated with the prestigious “Champion Award”. Nayak will be recognized for his excellence in leadership, vision and distinguished services of leaders in the IAA and his contributions to advancing the IAA and communications in the worldwide marketing communications industry.
    The IAA Inspire award will also recognize Deshdhoot Group of Publications joint managing director Janak Sarda with the Young Leader Award for excellence in contributing leadership and services in the IAA Young Professionals arena and creating dynamics in marketing communications.
    Speaking about the felicitation of Raj Nayak, IAA India Chapter president, Ramesh Narayan said, “I am really overjoyed to announce this news. Having worked closely in the IAA with Raj Nayak I have been a witness to his dynamism, his receptivity to ideas, and his capacity to contribute to anything that furthers the cause of marketing communications in India.     MUMBAI: The India Chapter of International Advertising Association has elected Hungama Digital Media CEO Neeraj Roy as its president.

    Roy said, “We look forward to serving the ever changing needs of the marketing and advertising fraternity as India is at the cusp of a digital transformation that will impact all aspects of life.”

    Further, Monica Tata, COO – BTVi, elected as VP commented, “I am looking forward to be part of the next phase of IAA under the new leadership.”

    Pradeep Dwivedi, former CMO of The Dainik Bhaskar Group, elected as the Hon. Secretary, said, “There has never been a better time for our industry to evolve and transform itself. I am keenly looking forward to working with industry leaders to sustain the rich legacy of past IAA initiatives and contribute to new ones.”
