    American Film Market to screen 402 films from 51 countries

    NEW DELHI: A total of 402 films, including 321 Market Premieres and 75 World Premieres, from 51 countries are being screened as part of the ongoing 2013 American Film Market.

     

    “Films in 30 languages will be screened for more than 8,000 buyers and industry professionals from more than 70 countries,” said AFM MD and executive VP Jonathan Wolf of the Independent Film & Television Alliance.

     

    The market commenced yesterday and will conclude on 13 November.

    ‘Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs’ sequel coming in December

    NEW DELHI: The animation film Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs 2 in 3D, a sequel to the earlier film, is to be released on 20 December.

    Directed by Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn, the film has the voices of Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, Terry Crews, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris, and Benjamin Bratt. 

    Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 picks up where Sony Pictures Animation’s hit comedy left off. Inventor Flint Lockwood’s genius is finally being recognised as he’s invited by his idol Chester V to join The Live Corp Company, where the best and brightest inventors in the world create technologies for the betterment of mankind.

    Chester’s right-hand-gal – and one of his greatest inventions – is Barb (a highly evolved orangutan with a human brain, who is also devious, manipulative and likes to wear lipstick. It’s always been Flint’s dream to be recognised as a great inventor, but everything changes when he discovers that his most infamous machine (which turns water into food) is still operating and is now creating food-animal hybrids – “foodimals!”

    Brie Larson hopes to star opposite Mark Wahlberg in ‘The Gambler’

    MUMBAI: Brie Larson is in talks for the female lead opposite Mark Wahlberg in the Paramount’s remake of the 1974 drama The Gambler that starred James Caan.

     

    Rupert Wyatt is directing the movie, which focuses on Jim Bennett, a college literature professor, being played by Wahlberg, whose vices cause his life to spiral out of control.

     

    Larson repped by Gersh and ROAR will play one of Bennett’s students with whom he’s in love.

     

    Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff are producing the film.

    Mark Wahlberg and Rupert Wyatt eyeing ‘The Gambler’ remake

    MUMBAI: There are rumors doing rounds that Mark Wahlberg is circling to star and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt is circling to direct The Gambler, a William Monahan-scripted remake of the 1974 James Caan movie for Paramount.

    The remake is being produced by original producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff and also Stephen Levinson. Caan played a college professor whose gambling addiction overcomes him even after he gets in big trouble with the wrong guys. James Toback wrote the original script and the feature film co-starred Lauren Hutton and Paul Sorvino.
