    The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) honor the best of international and British contributions to the film industry and host an annual show to present these awards.     Tom Hardy drops out of ‘Suicide Squad’

    MUMBAI:  Directed by David Ayer, the all-star comic book movie, Suicide Squad, produced by Warner Bros. was slated to star Tom Hardy reprising the role of Rick Flagg, the leader of the group that consists of Batman villains- Deadshot, Joker, Harley Quinn, Boomerang and Enchantress.

     

    According to sources Hardy unfortunately had to make an exit due to date problems. The actor is currently shooting for The Revenant, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and that shoot is now looking to last longer than initially planned.

     

    Upon hearing this, Warner Bros. has decided to cast Jake Gyllenhaal in replacement of Hardy. Gyllenhaal, who has gained popularity for his performance in the Nightcrawler, has previously worked with Ayer on the acclaimed police thriller, End of Watch. It is however unclear whether or not the actor will take it on.

     

    Based on DC Entertainment’s, the cast of Suicide Squad includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne. The film is due to begin shooting mid-April in Toronto and is scheduled to release on 05 August 2016.

    House of Cards actress cast in Mount Everest disaster film

    MUMBAI: Golden Globe Award winning actor Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Sam Worthington (Clash of the Titans) join Everest, Deadline reports. Everest is an upcoming film based on the 1996 Mount Everest Disaster, when eight people were caught in a blizzard and died on Mount Everest during summit attempts. In the entire season, fifteen people died trying to reach the summit, making it the deadliest single year in Mount Everest’s history.

     

    Academy Award winning actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain) and Academy Award nominee Josh Brolin (Milk) have also been cast in the disaster epic. Joining them are actors Jason Clarke (The Great Gatsby) and Academy Award nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone). Wright will play the wife is Brolin’s character, a doctor who braves the elements over an arduous night. Worthington is set to play the role of a scaling expert from New Zealand.

     

    Everest is being directed by Academy Award nominee Baltasar Kormákur (The Deep). The film is currently being shot on location in Nepal and will soon also shoot in the Italian Dolomites and at Cinecitta Studious in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the UK, according the Hollywood Reporter.

    Josh Brolin and Jake Gyllenhaal to come together for ‘Everest’

    MUMBAI: The movie about a tragic attempt to climb Mount Everest is in closing negotiations with Josh Borlin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clark and John Hawkes. Based on a true story, Universal is talking to Emmet/Furla to co-finance the film and distribute Everest in North America.

    Baltasar Kormakur will be directing the movie. The plot is about two expedition groups who are climbing Mount Everest but are hit by a massive storm, leaving eight people in the two groups dead. The movie is most likely to be shot in Iceland which is also Kormakur‘s homeland.

    Jason Clarke, from Zero Dark Thirty, and Jake Gyllenhaal, from End of Watch, will be playing the roles of the two group leaders.

    Jake Gyllenhaal to play a crime reporter in’Nightcrawler’

    MUMBAI: The ‘Source Code’ actor Jake Gyllenhaal is set to reprise the role of a freelance L.A. crime reporter in the upcoming directorial debut of Dan Gilroy – Nightcrawler as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
     
    Gilroy is dabbling into direction after having been a screenwriter for the films Real Steel and The Bourne Legacy. Rene Russo, Gilroy‘s wife, is set to co-star in the movie.
     
    Sierra/Affinity will handle international sales on the project at the upcoming Cannes Film Market, with WME Global and CAA representing North American rights. Filming will begin in late October.
     
    Tony Gilroy (Dan’s brother) and Jennifer Fox, who collaborated on Michael Clayton, Duplicity and theBourne series, will produce along with Gyllenhaal.
     
    Michel Litvak and David Lancaster also will produce as well as finance through their Bold Films banner. Gary Michael Walters will serve as executive producer.
     
    The project will include editor John Gilroy (also a brother of Dan and Tony) and cinematographer Robert Elswit.

    Jake Gyllenhaal to star in Mississippi Grind

    MUMBAI: Jake Gyllenhaal, who annexed an Oscar nomination for his performance in Brokeback Mountain, has been signed to star in a new film titled Mississippi Grind. 

    Gyllenhaal will play a young gambling addict who teams up with a down-on-his-luck gambler in debt for a road trip to win back what they‘ve lost.

    The film will be written and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden who are known for their film Half Nelson.

    The actor will make his New York stage debut in Roundabout Theatre Company‘s upcoming production titled If There Is I Haven‘t Found it Yet. He is also known for his work in films like Love and Other Drugs and Donnie Darko among others.
