    15th edition of Goafest set to be held in May 2022

    Mumbai:The Goafest Organising Committee has announced a change in dates for Goafest 2022. The fest which was scheduled from 7 April to 9 April will now be held from 5 May to 7 May.

    “The change will also facilitate extra time for the prestigious ‘One Show’ which has collaborated with the Abbys,” said the committee in a statement, hoping that agencies and organisations will be more enthusiastic to participate in the iconic festival as it returns after a gap of two years.

    Goafest chairman Jaideep Gandhi said “Ad Club joining hands with ‘One Show’ will truly take the Abbys – India’s premier and longstanding tradition of creative excellence, to the world. However, keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic situation, we believe the celebration of this unique, game-changing partnership would be better experienced with the 15th edition of Goafest scheduled in May 2022. After all, a celebration of creativity and innovation gets even better when the world around us is safer.”

    Advertising Agencies Association of India president Anupriya Acharya said, ‘The One Show’ is one of the most reputed advertising shows globally and further adds to the significance and the excitement around the festival that is returning after two long, eventful years. “And similarly, the 2022 edition of Goafest provides a perfect platform for the redefined Abbys. There is much for everyone to come together and share at the festival,” added Acharya.

    The three-day annual festival for the advertising, marketing, and media industry attracts over 2000 attendees from across India.

    Goafest back after two years, to be held in April 2022

    Mumbai: After a gap of two years, Goafest 2022 is back for its 15th edition and is set to be held in Grand Hyatt, Goa from 7-9 April 2022. The event that celebrates the achievements of the media and advertising industry, is curated by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and The Advertising Club (TAC).

    The three-day event, which recognises consummate industry talents, will be helmed by Jaideep Gandhi as the chairman of the Goafest 2022 organising committee. Rana Barua has been elected as chairman of the awards governing council for the renowned ABBY Awards 2022. Being organised for the last 50 years, ABBY Awards is a prestigious ad award show which is attended by more than 1500 to 1800 professionals from the marketing, advertising, media, research, and PR fraternity.

    “Goafest is the definitive festival for the advertising, media and marketing industry in the sub-continent. This time the festival is coming after a gap of two years and so one can imagine the anticipation the industry professionals will have! We also expect a lot of first-timers this time given a lot of new young talent has joined in these two years. Goafest 2022 will be a good platform to celebrate our industry’s resilience as well as the potential,” said AAAI president Anupriya Acharya, speaking about the fest’s 15th edition.

    On Jaideep Gandhi’s appointment as the chairman, she further added, “Jaideep is a seasoned industry professional with vast experience on Goafest. Certainly, it will translate into a delightful and engaging festival experience for all.”

    Speaking about the return of the prestigious event, Gandhi said, “It is the illustrious return of Goafest 2022, with its 15th edition, where recognition, innovation, collaboration and celebration all happen under the same sky. Ensuring all safety protocols that are necessary in a post-pandemic world, I believe it’s time for the industry to rediscover the power, joy and magic of connecting once again in the real world. I’m grateful to the previous Chairmen ‘Mr. Nakul Chopra, Mr. Ashish Bhasin’ for the learnings I received from them and thankful to the President of AAAI – Ms Anupriya Acharya for her continuous support and encouragement.”

    The Advertising Club president and Times of India president Partha Sinha on the return of the premier event said, “The return of ABBY and Goafest not only marks the return of normalcy in the advertising, marketing and media landscape of India but it also underlines the reason for which most of like this profession – the celebration of excellence. The ABBYs is the highest honour in this country for excellence and we wanted to ensure that we bring the big one back with all its glory. We have used the hiatus to our advantage and the award will witness some big forward movements in this Goafest. Watch this space for more details.” 

    On Rana Barua’s appointment as the chairman, he added, “Rana has first-hand experiences of organising and winning both creative and media awards. His experience will be hugely beneficial as the chairman of the Award Governing Council. It’s a complex job and we had to entrust the right person with that job.”

    Speaking about the forthcoming ABBY’s, Havas Group India Group CEO and The Advertising Club VP and AGC chairman Rana Barua said, “After two extremely tough years for the industry, I am extremely happy to say that ABBY’s is back. ABBY’s has always been recognized as the best in creativity for our industry and winning Abby’s will continue to be an inspiration and motivation for the new generation of marketers, agencies and brand custodians. Since the period of entries will be from 16 February, 2019 to 15th February 2021, I encourage all to come forward and celebrate their best work.”

    MUMBAI The Advertising Club and Advertising Agencies Association of India have announced Goafest 2016 with Publicis South Asia, CEO Nakul Chopra as the chairman of Goafest Organizing Committee.

    Commenting on his appointment, Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAA’s of I) president Ambi M G Parameshwaran said “Nakul has been in this industry for over 30 years now. He has been leading Publicis in India through this last decade. I am very excited to see what plans he has in store for us this year.”

    The Advertising Club  president Raj Nayak too welcomed the appointment saying, “This is wonderful news. Nakul has been instrumental in driving Goafest to success in the recent past. With his proven track record in managing high performing agencies, he is truly the best man for the job! I look forward to work with him to make Goafest 2016 a roaring success.”

    To have been given the opportunity to Chair the Goafest Organizing Committee is an honor. There’s still a lot of work to do in strengthening Goafest and together, I hope we can build upon the good work of the past years,” added Chopra on his new role.

    Srinivasan Swamy re-elected president of IAA in India

    MUMBAI: At the Annual General Body Meeting of the India Chapter of International Advertising Association (IAA) held in Mumbai, RK Swamy Hansa Group chairman Srinivasan Swamy was unanimously elected its president for the third consecutive term.

     

    He already serves on the IAA Global Board as IAA Asia Pacific development vice president.

     

    Neeraj Roy of Hungama, Monica Tata of HBO and Jaideep Gandhi of Jaya Advertising were also re-elected vice president, honorary secretary and treasurer, respectively, for 2014-15.

     

    The other members elected into the managing committee were: Abhishek Karnani of The Free Press Journal, Vishakha Singh of Aurora Comms, Manish Advani of Mahindra SSG, Janak Sarda of Deshdoot, CVL Srinivas of Group M, Avinash Pandey of ABP News, MV Shreyams Kumar of Mathrubhumi, Partho Dasgupta of BARC, Bhaskar Das of Zee Media and Rajesh Kejriwal of Kyoorius.

     

    In addition, the following would serve in the committee as invited members for the year 2014-15: Pradeep Guha, Pheroza Bilimoria, Sam Balsara, Kaushik Roy, Raj Nayak, Ramesh Narayan, M G Parameswaran, Neville Taraporewalla, Gayatri Yadav, Anita Nayyar, Pradeep Dwivedi, Anand Sankeshwar, Sunil Lulla and Punitha Arumugam. “A few more have been invited and their names will be announced after they accept our invitation”, said Swamy.

     

    In his outgoing president’s address, Swamy said that the year that went by was an active one, where 32 events were organised by IAA India. Some of these included two IAA Debates, four IAA Conversations, five IAA Mentorship Webinars, six Knowledge Seminars, three IAA Young Turks Forum events and other marquee events like the IAA Olive Crown Awards and the IAA Leadership Awards. There were a few other special ones like the IAA Retrospect & Prospects events in Gurgaon and Mumbai and the IAA Mentorship Programme. The year was off to a terrific start on 30 September 2013 with the IAA Platinum Jubilee Global Marketing Summit where the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate and Gujarat CM Narendra Modi delivering his valedictory address on his vision of Brand India.

     

    IAA India will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee year in 2014-15. “We have identified at least 20 different platforms to peg our events for the coming year. We have a very good committee and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have more than 52 events during the year”, said Swamy.

     

    IAA Asia Pacific area director Praddep Guha, “IAA India is already seen as the most active industry body in India as well as in the IAA world. With the plans that are made for 2014-15, I have no doubt that this will be the best year ever and would set a new benchmark”.

     

    Not wanting to elaborate as yet, Swamy said, “IAA will continue with some its past branded events and add a few special ones for the year that would make the IAA India Silver Jubilee a memorable one”.

    Srinivasan Swamy re-elected as IAA president

    MUMBAI: R K Swamy BBDO chairman and managing director Srinivasan Swamy has been re-elected as president of India chapter of International Advertising Association (IAA). The announcement was made at the annual general meeting held on 25 September in Mumbai.

    Apart from this, Hungama Digital Media Entertainment MD and CEO Neeraj Roy has been elected as vice president. Jaya Advertising chairman Jaideep Gandhi and HBO India MD Monica Tata have also been re-elected as treasurer and secretary respectively for the year 2013-14.

    “IAA India was on an over-drive in 2012-13 under the leadership of Srinivasan Swamy” said IAA VP & area director Asia Pacific Pradeep Guha.

    “I am happy I was at the helm at IAA when many new initiatives were planned and unfolded. I had a great team who executed much of these programmes with élan. As we move forward, our aim at IAA India is to be seen by IAA Global as the most vibrant of all IAA chapters worldwide. I am sure that recognition is not far,” said Swamy.

    Swamy was co-opted onto the global IAA board in May this year as VP- development, Asia Pacific, as an acknowledgement of the initiatives that were undertaken in the first six months of his presidentship in India.
