    The Family Man returns: Srikant now the hunted

    MUMBAI: Looks like Srikant Tiwari just made India’s most-wanted list. Prime Video has unveiled the high-voltage trailer for The Family Man Season 3, the beloved spy-thriller created by Raj & DK, which premieres globally on November 21.

    This time, the tables have turned. The once calm and composed undercover agent, played by Manoj Bajpayee, is now on the run, not only from new foes Rukma (Jaideep Ahlawat) and Meera (Nimrat Kaur), but also from TASC, his very own intelligence unit. The trailer teases an intense cat-and-mouse chase as Srikant’s double life crumbles, blurring the lines between family and duty.

    The new season promises everything fans love about The Family Man, razor-sharp wit, breathtaking action, emotional turmoil, and a dose of desi espionage swagger. Alongside Bajpayee, the stellar returning cast includes Priyamani, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Ashlesha Thakur, Vedant Sinha, and Gul Panag.

    Creators Raj & DK shared, “Season 3 takes Srikant’s professional and personal chaos to a whole new level. With Jaideep and Nimrat joining the universe as formidable new adversaries, this season pushes him to his absolute limits.”

    Echoing the excitement, Manoj Bajpayee said, “For years, fans have asked me when Srikant Tiwari is coming back, and now the wait is over. This season is bigger, bolder, and far more dangerous. Srikant is cornered like never before.”

    New entrants Jaideep Ahlawat and Nimrat Kaur called the experience “thrilling and surreal,” with Nimrat describing The Family Man as “a dream come true” for any actor.

    Directed by Raj & DK, with Suman Kumar and Tusshar Seyth joining the director’s chair, the new season of The Family Man will stream in over 240 countries and territories on Prime Video. So, buckle up, India’s favourite spy is back, but this time, the hunter has become the hunted.

    MUMBAI: India’s largest digital wallet by transaction value, Mobikwik has kicked off a cheeky new campaign spotlighting its Pocket UPI product — a feature designed to challenge the dominance of traditional bank-linked UPI. The multi-media campaign stars actor Jaideep Ahlawat reprising his no-nonsense cop persona in humorous short films tackling the everyday mess of digital payments.

    In the first instalment, Ahlawat is seen policing cluttered bank statements caused by minor UPI transactions, positioning Pocket UPI as a hassle-free alternative. Unlike conventional UPI, Pocket UPI allows users to transact without linking their bank accounts, helping them avoid transaction-related clutter, track monthly expenses better, and make PIN-less payments — all while lowering fraud risks.

    “Pocket UPI is our latest push to simplify how India pays”, said Mobikwik CMO Jaskaran Singh Kapany. “And who better than Jaideep to bring gravitas and humour to what is essentially a smart tech switch for consumers”.

    The campaign dropped with a teaser on Ahlawat’s Instagram on 16 May, generating celebrity buzz around how his character would solve India’s digital payment headaches. The full film went live today on Mobikwik’s digital channels, with more short films focusing on security, speed, and budgeting tools lined up for release.

    According to the Redseer Report, Mobikwik serves over 176.4 million users and 4.6 million merchants and holds a 23 per cent market share in prepaid instrument (PPI) wallet gross transaction value as of November 2024. The company continues to scale its financial services footprint across credit, insurance, savings, and investments.

    Founded in 2009 by Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku, Mobikwik has consistently positioned itself at the intersection of innovation and financial access. With Pocket UPI, it is now attempting to rewrite the UPI rulebook altogether.

    MUMBAI: The News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2025 celebrated the best of film and OTT at a glamorous event in Mumbai, bringing together the industry’s finest. Hosted by actor Arjun Kapoor, the evening recognised outstanding talent and storytelling across films and web series, with a star-studded red carpet.

    The event drew a collection of prominent figures, including Janhvi Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhishek Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ramesh Sippy, Salim Khan, Ravi Kishan, Jyothika, Riteish Deshmukh, Yami Gautam, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Kabir Khan, Raj & DK, and Sonu Nigam. Nikhita Gandhi’s live performance added to the night’s vibrant atmosphere.

    Rajkummar and Janhvi received the Best Actor and Best Actress (Popular Choice) awards, while Dhawan and Samantha won Best Actor and Best Actress (OTT). Ahlawat and Hydari were also recognised for their OTT performances. Rising Star Awards went to Raghav Juyal and Pratibha Ranta. Pankaj Tripathi was named Entertainer of the Year.

    Abhishek, upon receiving Best Actor (jury), remarked, “This is actually my first-ever Best Actor Award. I’d like to thank the esteemed jury it’s an honour that you find me worthy of this award. But the credit for this performance has to go entirely to Shoojit (Sircar) Da. He’s made such a wonderful film.”

    Hydari, winner of the OTT Star of the Year (Female) award, shared, “This one is very special. Heeramandi is very special. My director Sanjay sir is very special. I love him dearly. I am because of my directors and I hope I will continue to be because of them. Every single ad on set, every single human being on set, every single four-legged puppy on set, everybody was part of that universe, and it really made those years that we spent shooting. I can’t be more grateful.”

    Kabir won Best Director for Chandu Champion, and Stree 2 won Best Film. Sippy and Salim were honoured with the Reel Legend Award. Raj & DK and Sonu Nigam also received awards.

    The jury, comprising Sachin Pilgaonkar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mukesh Chhabra, Tavishi Paitandy, Lilette Dubey, and Shabana Azmi, ensured a fair selection process.

    MUMBAI: Mumbai’s entertainment scene sparkled brighter as the OTTplay Awards 2025 rolled out the red carpet at JW Marriott on 22 March, bringing together the finest in digital storytelling under its ‘One Nation, One OTT Award’ banner. The third edition of the only pan-India OTT awards was a grand spectacle, uniting stars and creators from across languages and regions to honour the best in streaming content.

    The night was a triumph of storytelling, with major accolades going to Panchayat, Paatal Lok, Girls Will Be Girls, Poacher, Freedom at Midnight, Black Warrant, and IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.

    The acting honours saw Manoj Bajpayee (Despatch) and Anupam Kher (Vijay 69) take home Best Actor (Popular and Critics, respectively), while Kajol (Do Patti) and Parvathy Thiruvothu (Manorathangal) claimed Best Actress titles.

    The web series category delivered emotional highs, with Jyotika (Dabba Cartel) winning Best Supporting Actor (Female) and presenting the Critics’ Best Actress award to Nimisha Sajayan (Poacher) in an on-stage moment that radiated camaraderie.

    Other winners included Jaideep Ahlawat (Paatal Lok 2) and Raghav Juyal, bagging Best Actor (Male) in the Critics’ and Popular categories, respectively, while Aditi Rao Hydari earned recognition for her performance in Heeramandi.

    The evening also saw a blend of generations, with industry veterans Anupam Kher and Shekhar Suman cheering on Patralekha, who won Breakthrough Performance (Female) Series for IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, while her husband Rajkummar Rao led a standing ovation.

    Adding a touch of nostalgia, Kunal Kohli presented Kajol with her award, reigniting Fanaa memories for Bollywood buffs.

    The night was filled with iconic reunions, including The Family Man trio Manoj Bajpayee, Priya Mani, and Neeraj Madhav, sharing the stage for the first time since Season 1. They were joined by Jaideep Ahlawat, the antagonist of the upcoming season, making for a momentous OTT crossover.

    Plot: Almost thirty years after The Day the Villains Won (aka V-Day), Helen Black (Kareena Kapoor Khan) arrives at her new apartment in The Onar, a 161-story apartment complex in what used to be Midtown Manhattan. Owned and operated by the U.S. American Secret Service S.H.I.E.L.D., The Onar has become the very embodiment of the dystopic wealth and inequality that’s engulfed New York City ever since V-Day. A collection of uber-rich families – including the media magnate Burge family – occupy the opulent penthouses in the DecaDomes, The Onar’s highest ten stories. Helen Black’s apartment is located in the much humbler ‘100 Block’. When her nosy neighbour Dr Brian Mizuno asks Helen (through the paper-thin walls) what brought her here, she cryptically alludes to “problems with an ex…”.

    On the same day that Helen moves into her apartment, Lisa Cartwright reports for her first day as a Junior Residential Security Analyst for Panopticog Solutions, a private security company hired by S.H.I.E.L.D. to monitor the residents of The Onar (without their knowledge or consent). Lisa is assigned to survey Helen’s corner of the 100 Block and quickly discovers that Helen Black is not at all who she says she is.

    Mumbai: After the launch of “Kaun Banegi Shikharwati” and “Mithya” (premiering on 18 February), streaming platform Zee5 has announced its third project “Bloody Brothers,” as a part of its multi-show partnership with Applause Entertainment. The upcoming show is the Indian adaptation of British mystery thriller “Guilt.”

    Directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios India, the six-part series will premiere on Zee5 next month.

    “Bloody Brothers” is headlined by Jaideep Ahlawat and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub. The cast includes Tina Desai, Shruti Seth, Maya Alagh, Mugdha Godse, Satish Kaushik and Jitendra Joshi. 

    The series revolves around the lives of two brothers, Jaggi and Daljeet. While the elder brother Jaggi enjoys the comfort of a wealthy and seemingly perfect life, the younger one Daljeet struggles to survive running a vintage book shop cum café. Their life spins out of control when a tragic accident occurs and distrust starts enveloping their lives, creating a rift between them and everyone around. The series builds with some edge-of-the-seat plot twists and turns.

    BBC Studios, Applause Entertainment reunite for Indian adaptation of ‘Guilt’

    Mumbai: Aditya Birla Group’s Applause Entertainment and BBC Studios India are set to collaborate again for the Indian adaptation of the British mystery thriller Guilt. The as-yet-untitled Indian remake will be directed by Shaad Ali with actors Jaideep Ahlawat and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub playing the lead roles.

    Applause Entertainment and BBC Studios have previously partnered on other popular dramas for the Indian market, which includes Criminal Justice and Rudra – The Edge of Darkness, which is currently in production.

    The original series of the award-winning British drama was created and produced by Happy Tramp North and Expectation for BBC Scotland and BBC Two. Set in Edinburgh, the series sees two estranged brothers thrown together by tragedy and united by guilt, with riveting plot twists and a strong vein of black humour.

    The Indian version of Guilt will revolve around the lives of brothers, Jaggi and Daljeet – played by Ahlawat and Ayyub. While the elder brother Jaggi enjoys the comfort of a wealthy and seemingly perfect life, the younger one Daljeet struggles to survive running a vintage book shop cum café.     MUMBAI: Netflix is offering the first episode of Bard of Blood for a limited time to non-members of leading OTT platform. The strategy behind this move is to attract as many viewers as possible to the platform.

    According to the ET reports the episode is currently accessible through Netflix homepage and the Bard of Blood show listing on the platform and can be viewed across all web browsers on desktop and Android devices. Support for iOS devices seems missing, although those users will be able to generate a link by entering their email address and watch it on supported devices.

    For the rest of the episodes viewers will be made to subscribers to Netflix. The offering of initial episode by Netflix is made to hook the viewers on the story of Bard Of Blood.
