    Newly launched Velfie reaches 2 lakh download milestone

    MUMBAI: The recently launched new age mobile app #Velfie has reached the 2 lakh download mark. Launched by entrepreneurs Ankush Johar and Rammohan Sundaram, the app lets one connect with circles in a more personal and entertaining way through ‘video selfies.’

     

    The platform has made more than 300,000 videos since its launch in April, this year. The app is already a hit with the celeb bandwagon including stars like Akshay Kumar, Tanmay Bhatt (AIB) and Jacqueline Fernandes among others.

     

    Velfie co-founder Rammohan Sundaram said, “Social networking platforms provide a unique opportunity to connect with several people at once. The fact that users are spending over 8 minutes on an average on the app shows an increasing propensity among them to adopt more and more innovative methods of interaction as they evolve.”

     

    “India is already a big market for us with maximum users (65 per cent) followed by other countries.     MUMBAI: Held at Reliance MediaWorks, the Renault Star Guild Awards 2015 announced the winners in film and television for the year 2014. The night was hosted by Kapil Sharma, who entertained the audience with his quick wit and rib-tickling humor.

     

    ‘PK’ won best film along with best director, best dialogue, best sound mixing and a special award for the more than 100 crore film. Shahid Kapoor won for best actor for his performance in ‘Haider’ while Priyanka Chopra walked away with the award for best actress in ‘Mary Kom’.

     

    Superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandes and Shahid Kapoor set the stage on fire with their magical performances.

     

    Rakesh Roshan received the lifetime achievement award that was presented to him by Jeetendra and Hrithik Roshan. Deepika Padukone walked away with the entertainer of the year award and Alia Bhatt won the Gionee most stylish youth icon award. The Star Plus shining superstar award went to Shraddha Kapoor.

    Dharma Productions prepone the release of ‘Brothers’

    MUMBAI: Brothers starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandes and Jackie Shroff will be ready to open in theatres months before the original release date, on 31 July 31 2015.

    The film went on floors in September and a considerable amount of scenes have already been filmed. Now, Brothers is likely to be completed way before the originally scheduled release date of 2 October 2015. However when Karan Johar zeroed in on 31 July, he realised that Akshay had already decided to release his home production on that day. Johar had a word with Akshay, who, thrilled about his upcoming Dharma project, offered his July date to Johar.

    Producer of the film, Johar confirms the news, saying, “The energy of the shoot has been incredible, so we have actually decided to prepone our release to 31 July. Akshay and Ashvini have graciously given us that date and we have given them our previous date.”

    Tips’ Race 2 being readied for release on 25 January

    MUMBAI: Tips Industries‘ Race 2 was flooded with association and in-film offers from over 15 brands thanks to the ensemble star cast that includes names like John Abraham, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandes.

     

    While global brands like Audi,Van Huesen and Tanishq have gotten attached to the film as brand associations, the film‘s marketing and promotions is also reaching a flashpoint with the star cast going all out to promote the film as it is being readied for release.

     

    Producer Ramesh Taurani said, “We are excited with the feedback coming our way for the film….The star cast is equally excited and is going all out to promote Race 2.”

     

    Apart from traveling to Delhi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune and Bengaluru, the team will even travel to Dubai to meet the local press and then to London for a press conference organized at The Hippodrome Casino – Leicester keeping with the mafia theme of the film.

     

    While the starcast is already shooting for several reality shows like Bigg Boss, Comedy Circus, Nach Baliye and Sa Re Ga Ma finale ,the film‘s leading ladies Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandes have also started scorching the award season performing to the film‘s hit songs at the Zee Awards and Umang Police show.

     

    If that is not all, a special game will soon be launched on the film in association with an internet partner.

     

    Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Race 2 will release on 25 January.
