    Ogilvy acquires majority stake in Brazilian marketing agency Jüssi

    MUMBAI: WPP’s wholly-owned operating company Ogilvy has acquired a majority stake of Jüssi Intention Marketing Ltd, an online performance, programmatic and conversion marketing agency in Brazil.
     

    Jüssi’s clients include Allianz Global Assistance & Corporate, Amazon, Decathlon, FNAC, Google, LinkedIn and Terra. Founded in 2010, the company employs 120 people and is based in S?o Paulo. Jüssi will be part of the Ogilvy Group in Brazil (Ogilvy & Mather, David Agency, Nine, Etco and Foster) and will continue to operate under the Jüssi name. 

     

     

    This investment continues WPP’s strategy of investing in fast growing sectors such as digital and its commitment to developing its strategic networks throughout Latin America, while bolstering the Group’s leadership position in Brazil.

     

    In Brazil, the Group (including associates and investments) generates revenues of around $600 million and employs over 7,000 people

    Star Sports bags telecast rights to Bundesliga for five seasons

    MUMBAI: Star India has bagged the exclusive telecast rights of Bundesliga football for the next five seasons 2015-16 to 2019-20.

     

    Star India has teamed up with DFL Sports Enterprises, the sales entity of the DFL (Deutche Football League) to air the tourney in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

     

    Star Sports will broadcast Bundesliga matches on a live or delayed basis across the India subcontinent, as well as provide live streaming of all matches on its digital platform, starsports.com.

     

    “This signing is a reflection of the success we have had in seeing the Bundesliga recognized as a premium product among leading international markets. Star India provides the ideal environment for the Bundesliga to grow and prosper in India, one of our key strategic markets,” said DFL Sports Enterprises managing director Jörg Daubitzer.

     

    Star India COO Sanjay Gupta added, “Our partnership with the Bundesliga is in line with our overall strategy to promote football and build heroes for the millions of sports fans in the country. The German national team won the FIFA World Cup last year and Germany’s in depth grassroots program has bred some of world’s best players and teams, making the Bundesliga one of the most exciting leagues to watch.”

    The 66th Festival de Cannes will close on 26th May with a screening of the thriller Zulu, shot entirely on location in South Africa by Jérôme Salle and adapted from the novel of the same name by Caryl Férey.

    The action takes place in Cape Town, in a South Africa still overshadowed by apartheid, where destitute townships rubs shoulders with affluent neighbourhoods. Two cops on the beat, Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean by Gore Verbinski, Lord of the Rings by Peter Jackson) and Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland by Kevin McDonald, Ghost Dog, La Voie du Samoura? by Jim Jarmush) are caught up in a suspenseful search which combines elements of political film noir and social study.

    Co-written by Julien Rappeneau, Zulu was produced by Richard Grandpierre (Eskwad), coproduced with Pathé, Lobster Tree and M6 Films and is to be distributed in France by Pathé, who will also handle the film’s international distribution. The score was composed by Alexandre Desplat.
    In 1988, Forest Whitaker won Best Male Actor at Cannes for his role in Clint Eastwood’s Bird.

    The 66th Festival de Cannes opens on Wednesday 15th May with Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby and with Steven Spielberg as President of the Competition Jury. The full list of films for Selection will be announced on Thursday 18th April at the traditional press conference and published online towards noon at www.festival-cannes.com

    Fifa announces online initiatives for Club World Cup Japan 2006

    MUMBAI: Football’s governing body Fifa has announced that its site is providing a host of features for the Fifa Club World Cup Japan 2006, which kicks off on Sunday 10 December 2006.

    All matches will be covered live on the site: goals, cards, substitutions and additional statistics will be available in real time through the site’s ScoreCard service.

    Breaking news, post-match quotes and analysis, interviews and features will be produced direct from the venues. Team profiles and squad lists, referees and venues profiles, profiles of the previous clubs who won the former Intercontinental / Toyota Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup since 1961 will be present.

    A full Japanese language version of the tournament to offer local football lovers the same level of coverage as enjoyed in the four official languages the site operates in (English, Spanish, French and German). This Japanese version is available on www.FIFA.com/jp

    The site will also offer a worldwide video highlights service for the tournament. Two minute video summaries will be made available free of charge shortly after the final whistle of each game (except Japan and Spain, where there is a 24 hour delay).
