    Belarus girl wins Zee Music item bomb title

    MUMBAI: Zee Music’s search for an `item bomb’ is finally over. Tatsiana – a trained ballet & classical dancer from Belarus – got the better of the other 13 contestants to clinch the item bomb title; while Columbian national Lyris bagged the first runner up title and Aneesha from Delhi, claimed the second runner up position.

    Tatsiana will be paired opposite Sanjay Dutt for an item song in the movie Musafir. Produced by White Feather Films, the November release Musafir features Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy in the title roles. According to Zee Telefilms director special projects, Yogesh Radhakrishnan, the first and second runners up will be doing a T – Series music video.

    The star-studded jury line-up gave a pleasant surprise as the generation next got due representation in Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi and Zayed Khan to decide the ‘bomb’. The actors along with choreographer Saroj Khan gave the final verdict.

    Zee Music had conducted auditions in Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Dubai and London. From each city eight girls were shorlisted, who further competed amongst themselves in the city finals in Mumbai. 14 girls made it to the grand finale in Mumbai.

    Speaking on the occasion, Zee Music business head Bharat Ranga said, “In our endeavour to provide a tailor-made platform for all the aspiring girls, Zee Music, along with White Feather Films, had created Musafir Item Bomb. The response that we have received from across India as well as Dubai and London was overwhelming with this hunt throwing up some remarkably talented girls.”

    Two foreign girls winning the first two titles might explain why Bollywood has developed a liking for foreign girls when it comes to item numbers. Samantha Fox, Yana Gupta, Jelena Jakovljevic and now Tatsiana…the trend may continue.

  • Zee Music swings to Item Bomb beat

    MUMBAI: The serial blast has begun! Zee Music has set off its international hunt for an item bomb – a girl to perform an item number opposite Sanjay Dutt in the movie Musafir – in Mumbai.

    Kicking of the proceedings, Zee Music on Saturday night staged an item hunt, which had everything from hot numbers, oomph and some foot tapping music. Not to mention of course, some hot girls doing their thing around the pole set up on stage.

    In a closely-fought contest, Mumbai girl Kajal Malhotra stole the thunder from other five contestants to reach the final round.

    The jury including director Ken Ghosh, model Malaika Arora Khan, choreographer/ director Ahmed Khan and actress Koena Mitra first evaluated the contestants based on their looks , body and oomph. Then, the contestants were asked to perform dance numbers through which the jury evaluated not only their performance skills but also their ability to follow the choreographer’s instructions.

    Malhotra had tough competition from other two Mumbai girls Sharon Noranha and Sharada Chamur. After the first round Noranha and Malhotra had a clear lead over other contestants, but the final round saw Chamur making a strong comeback with her vivacious stage performance. But Malhotra, who gave a consistent performance throughout the selection process, sailed through.

    The gala event held at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt was attended by the Musafir cast Anil Kapoor, Sameera Reddy, Mahesh Manjrekar, Koena Mitra, Shakti Kapoor and the film director Sanjay Gupta. Speaking at the occasion, Zee TV chairman Subhash Chandra stressed on Zee’s efforts to bring the best to the audience.

    Zee Telefilms director, special projects, Yogesh Radhakrishnan said Zee TV’s association with Musafir is providing a tailor made platform for all aspiring youngsters.

    “Hats off to them, I respect them”, exclaimed Musafir’s leading lady Sameera Reddy referring to the participants, after sitting through the selection process and that summed up the mood of the competition.

    The contestant from Russia- Emiley Ulumekova captivated the audience as she made sincere efforts to lip-sync the Hindi lines and gave flashes of her belly-dance talent during the stage performance.

    The flagship channel Zee’s talent hunt Cinestar Ki Khoj has reached its penultimate stage. Item Bomb will be simultaneously telecast on both Zee Music as well as Zee Cinema. Musafir is expected to hit theatres in November.

  • Zee Music gets into reality realm with ‘Item Bomb’

    MUMBAI: The announcement has finally come. The ‘new n’ improved’ Zee Music, which has given indications to this effect for a while now, is launching a new “and different” reality show.

    As the title suggests, Item Bomb is a search for a girl to perform in what is ubiquitous to “masala” Hindi films — the “item number”.

    The effort is touted as India’s first such hunt, which will give a platform to a young girl to perform opposite Sanjay Dutt in the forthcoming movie Musafir.

    While the channel has been hinting at a big reality show for a while now, the big hoopla launch of [V]’s Disco Star – a joint venture of Star’s music arm and Subhash Ghai promoted production house Mukta Arts – might well have triggered the announcement.

    The channel has joined hands with Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta’s production house White Feather Films for the hunt to discover a ravishing, hot girl. Just like the hunt, even the results are likely to be out soon what with Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy starrer Musafir, scheduled to hit theatres in October. The movie has been directed by Sanjay Gupta and presented by Sanjay Dutt.

    Item Bomb will be simultaneously telecast on both Zee Music as well as Zee Cinema. The promo’s for the talent hunt are currently being shot by Gupta himself.

Zee Music will go across four cities in India – Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore and two International destinations – London and Dubai, which are two strong markets for the Zee Network. Zee Music’s association with Musafir is providing a tailor made platform for all the aspiring youngsters. The winner of Item bomb will get a chance to be cast opposite Sanjay Dutt in an item number, ” offered Zee Music’s business head Yogesh Radhakrishnan.

    Dutt was quoted in a company release as saying, “I am glad that my company White Feather Films has tied up with Zee Music. They both are dynamic and with Item Bomb they will rock.” Whilst Gupta offered, “We are thrilled and excited to associate with Zee Music – The Sound of India, and we are sure to discover a perfect 10, who will be able to pair with the rock star of Bollywood, and our very own Sanjay Dutt.”

    An interesting promotions campaign that the channel has embarked on is the launch of an audio CD titled “Item Bomb Blast”. A joint venture between Zee Music and T Series, the CD will comprise sixteen ‘item number’ Aaisa Jadoo (Khakee), Sajna Ve (Chameli), Ishq Samundar (Kaante), Kambakth Ishq (Pyar Tune Kya Kiya), Khallas (Company) and the Musafir’s new item number song.

    ” We have been closely associated with Zee Music and this association will definitely help us in providing some scintillating music to music lovers,” offered T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar.

    With the flagship channel Zee’s talent hunt Cinestar Ki Khoj having reached its penultimate stage, the music arm will be having a live example to learn from.
