    Brand Finance valuation Report 2025: Three Indian firms in top 10 IT list

    MUMBAI:  Indian information technology (IT) firms are rocking it, and how. What started as a dream project to build India’s IT capabilities some 30-40 years ago has yielded dividend in a manner possibly not imagined. Take a look at the brand valuation consultancy  Brand Finance Global 500 and IT Services Top 25 reports. At least three Indian firms figure in the top 10 IT firms list.

    The report also reveals that the value of the top 25 IT services brands has surged to $163 billion, spurred by increased corporate spending and demand for advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). Top 10 IT Services providers as per the report  are (in alphabetical order) — Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Fujitsu (IT Services), HCLTech, IBM Consulting, Infosys, NTT DATA, TCS, and Wipro.

    Accenture retains its title as the world’s most valuable IT services brand for the seventh consecutive year, with a brand value of $41.5 billion. It also claims the title of the strongest brand, surpassing IBM Consulting, and has secured $3 billion in new generative AI bookings over the past year. Its rise in brand strength is largely driven by its exceptional familiarity and market presence, particularly in the US, where it commands the highest familiarity levels among the top 25 brands. Accenture’s robust competitive position is further reflected in its top score for consideration in both Europe and the US.

    TCS follows as the second most valuable IT services brand, with a brand value of $21.3 billion, bolstered by investments and its association with marathons and other high-profile sports events worldwide. From sponsoring iconic races like the TCS New York City Marathon and the TCS Sydney Marathon (its latest acquisition in 2024), to partnering with Jaguar TCS Racing in Formula E, TCS has cemented its global presence by using sports as a dynamic platform to connect with diverse audiences while highlighting its transformative digital solutions.

    Infosys, valued at $16.3 billion, ranks as the third most valuable brand, boasting the highest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18 per cent among IT services brands over the past five years. Bolstered by the robust leadership of CEO Salil Parekh, Infosys has redoubled its relevance in the AI-first world and consistently delivered strong performances and innovation in the rapidly evolving digital services landscape.

    HCLTech is recognised as the fastest-growing IT services brand in 2025, achieving an impressive 17 per cent increase in brand value to $8.9 billion, driven by significant deal wins and early adoption of AI technologies. This growth is fuelled by its strong financial performance driven by a series of mega deal wins across diverse industries and geographies in 2024, the continued positive momentum of its successful brand transformation and its early leadership in AI/GenAI business. HCLTech’s AI offerings have created a lot of stickiness in the market, the company having entered the space almost a decade ago and having strong AI partnerships with all the leading Technology OEMs and Hyperscalers.

Accenture leads in this area with the highest Sustainability Perceptions Score among the top 25 brands, reflecting its commitment to ethical management and social responsibility.

    Infosys’ Parekh, for the second year in a row, has topped the IT services ranking in Brand Finance’s Brand Guardianship Index (BGI) 2025 for the role of CEO as brand custodian and steward of long-term shareholder value.

    Brand Finance’s findings highlight the critical importance of AI capabilities and sustainable practices for IT service providers aiming to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

    HCL Technologies reports strong Q2FY25 with 8 per cent revenue growth

    Mumbai: HCL Technologies showcased a robust financial performance for the second quarter of FY25, ending 30 September 2024, with an 8 per cent year-over-year growth in revenue, driven by solid gains across its key business segments. The company’s board of directors, during a meeting on 14 October, approved the unaudited financial results and declared an interim dividend of Rs. 12 per share. This underscores HCL’s commitment to delivering consistent value to its shareholders amid the dynamic global tech landscape.

    The company recorded consolidated revenue from operations amounting to Rs. 28,862 crore, an increase from Rs. 26,672 crore during the same period last year. The growth was fueled by a rise in demand across IT & business services, which contributed Rs. 21,544 crore, and the engineering and R&D services segment, with revenues of Rs. 4,545 crore. HCL software also posted a healthy rise, achieving Rs. 2,773 crore in revenue.

    Profit before tax for the quarter stood at Rs. 5,687 crore, while the net profit reached Rs. 4,237 crore, showing an increase compared to Rs. 3,833 crore in Q2FY24. “Our strong financial performance in Q2FY25 is a testament to the resilience of our diversified business portfolio and our focus on delivering customer-centric innovations,” stated  HCL Technologies, CEO and MD, C. Vijayakumar.

    The approved interim dividend of Rs. 12 per share is set to be paid out on 30 October 2024, to shareholders on record as of 22 October 2024. The company’s ability to sustain dividend payouts reflects its solid financial health and cash flow management.

    HCL Technologies reported a total comprehensive income of Rs. 4,793 crore for Q2FY25. The company’s cash flow from operations reached Rs. 9,349 crore for the six months ending September 2024, underscoring its liquidity position. Total assets amounted to Rs. 99,763 crore, with an equity base of Rs. 68,887 crore.

    The balance sheet showed a slight increase in current liabilities to Rs. 21,626 crore, which aligns with seasonal trends in the technology sector. Non-current liabilities also rose marginally to Rs. 9,250 crore, reflecting increased lease obligations.

    Segment Performance:

    – IT and Business Services: This segment continued to be the primary revenue driver, witnessing a 8.2 per cent growth year-on-year, reaching Rs. 21,544 crore. The segment also recorded improved profitability due to efficiency enhancements.

    – Engineering and R&D Services: The segment saw an impressive 5.9 per cent rise in revenue to Rs. 4,545 crore, buoyed by increased investment in digital engineering initiatives.

    – HCL Software: Showing resilience, the software segment’s revenue increased to Rs. 2,773 crore, backed by strong licensing activity and cloud adoption trends.

    The quarter also marked the divestment of the company’s stake in a joint venture with State Street, generating a gain reflected in the Q1FY25 financials. This strategic move allows HCL to focus on core competencies while streamlining its portfolio.

    Looking forward, HCL Technologies remains optimistic about sustaining growth through digital transformation initiatives, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and cloud services. While challenges such as global economic uncertainties and fluctuating exchange rates persist, the company’s diversified service offerings and strategic investments are expected to support stable growth.

    Patni Computers inks deal with Disney Mobile

    MUMBAI: Patni Computer Systems Ltd has entered into an IT services agreement with Disney Mobile. This multi-service contract is for Disney’s new mobile phone service, which has been designed just for families.

    The company will be responsible for development of consumer, retail and operational portals and end-to-end system testing across multiple vendors and technologies utilised by Disney Mobile.

    Patni Computers Systems is an IT services major for the telecom industry. The company brings a deep knowledge of wireless technology and processes, especially about MVNOs, where it continue to extend its worldwide market leadership position.

    “Disney Mobile’s selection of Patni for their MVNO launch is further validation of our capability to deliver quality IT services in complex telecom environments under aggressive deadlines to a globally recognised brand such as Disney,” said Patni Computers vice president telecom and digital media Rohit Bedi.
