    MUMBAI: #IPKKND is once again flying high amongst the netizen as popular Star Plus show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is returning in full glory, this time on Hotstar.

    Renamed as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn, this eight episode long special original series on Hotstar will take the lead characters’ ‘Arnav’ and ‘Khushi’s’ story forward since the serial went off air 3 years ago. The show will hit the web on 24 November under the OTT’s Originals band.

    Star India head of digital Ajit Mohan, says, “Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn is yet another significant example of breakthrough content produced under the hotstar Originals brand. It is in line with our continuing endeavor to create great stories for the hotstar audience.”

    Under the production house Entertainment Mafia, they plan to reinvent the show’s magic once again Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Ek Jashn will return with eight 10-minute episodes, showing a day in the life of Arnav and Khushi, set three years into their marriage.

    Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was a top rated show in 2011-12, turning its lead actors Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani into superstars. The show was extremely popular especially amongst the international viewers across the world. The show went off air in November 2012, disappointing millions. Hotstar since its launch, has offered curated episodes of the show in its library and the fans have flocked to it.

    Some other hotstar Originals titles include the popular series On Air With AIB- a news satire hosted by AIB, the edgiest comedy group and M Bole Toh, a talk show featuring the most compelling celebrities from Bollywood.

    MUMBAI: Viewers in Namibia will now have a reason to rejoice. Star India in partnership with content sales agency GoQuest Media Ventures has secured a deal with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation for its popular series – ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’.

     

    With this development, it makes ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ the first Indian TV series to reach the country.  The series is a light hearted love story of two individuals with opposite personalities entwined in a relationship swinging between love and hate, which captivated millions of viewers in India and abroad.

     

    Commenting on the success of the show across geographies, Star India head – commercial and procurement Sandeep Jain said, “Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon has been licensed to ten territories in very a short span of time, and we’re humbled with the response that the show has received. We have had a productive and long-standing association with GoQuest Media, and with their support, we have also been able to license this highly popular series to territories like Nigeria and Uganda in Africa.”

     

    GoQuest MD Vivek Lath believes that there is a tremendous demand for Indian content in Africa as broadcasters in many African countries rely on Indian films and TV series to meet the audiences’ ever-increasing demands.

     

    The choice of the show comes after a careful selection done by the channel in order to show the Namibian viewers a love story that’s one of the most loved and appealing TV series from India. The series was aired in India on Star Plus.

    Sony to air thriller Anaamika from 26 Nov

    MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television is all set to introduce to its viewers a show that highlights a belief that too much happiness in one’s life is bound to attract the wrath of evil or jealousy.

    Titled ‘Anaamika’, the show is a love story with a mystical twist. It is replacing Set’s another fiction show ‘Byaah Humari Bahu Ka’ that failed to do well and has gone off-air.

    Starting 26 November, Anaamika will air every Monday to Thursday at 8 pm. 

     

    The new show of Set will compete with slot leader Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu’, Star Plus’ Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon’ and Zee TV’s ‘Rab se sohna isshq’.

    Produced by Trishulla Productions, ‘Anaamika’ traces the journey of a young couple Jeet (Mudit Nayar) and Rano (Annie Gill). The story explores this intriguing world where a life filled with happiness, togetherness and love is subject to uncanny circumstances.

    Sony Entertainment Television chief creative director Vivek Bahl said, “Anaamika is actually based on a true incident I’d heard about. We’ve taken that, and built an entire series around it, rich in characters, and driven by a young girl who stands up and fights for her husband against the scariest enemy.”

    “In keeping with Sony’s innovative approach to content, Anaamika is a first, in the fact that it’s a full-fledged soap-horror, which is also why it debuts at a prime-time weekday slot of 8 pm,” Bahl added.

    Set in Pune, the story of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon – Ek Baar Phir revolves around Shlok, a dynamic, handsome and an astute businessman and Astha a fun-loving, lively girl. If Shlok is a complete chauvinist and believes that women’s role should be confined to taking care of the home and family. Astha is a complete contrast to his stark personality; she believes in equality for both men and women and has a very progressive outlook to life. For Shlok it’s all about succeeding and being on top of the game and for Astha she would loves to spread happiness and cheers in the world. What happens when two strong and opposing personalities’ ends meet? For Shlok, Astha’s every entry into his space only calls for trouble making situations worse leading to a love-hate drama between the two and several dramatic twists unraveling the unknown.
    Talking about the show, Avinash Sachdev said, “I have always played a character of a sweet, loving boy and this is the first time that I will be playing an anti-hero on the small screen.
