MUMBAI: Mumbai based online realty platform, Housing.com has released its CEO Rahul Yadav, with immediate effect, after a regular board meeting, held earlier on 1 July. Yadav who is also the co-founder of the company, will no longer be an employee of Housing.com and be associated with the company in any manner, going forward.

The Housing board, unanimously agreed to bring Yadav’s tenure to a close, with reference to his behaviour towards investors, ecosystem and the media. • Bloomberg TV India asks ‘Will The Government Walk the Talk’

Bloomberg TV India asks ‘Will The Government Walk the Talk’

MUMBAI: The year 2014 saw a landmark in the Indian political system with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coming to power with a landslide majority.

Since then, all eyes have been on the new government’s moves and with the budget just a couple of weeks away, news channels especially the ones which cover business have once again gone into a tizzy. It is time for them to decipher the next phase.

A channel that prides itself in being a part of the biggest financial network in the world is setting a benchmark for the upcoming budget. ‘Will They Walk the Talk’, essentially Prime Minister Narendra Modi and finance minister Arun Jaitley, is the question that Bloomberg TV India will seek answers to through its three week long special budget programming.

Bloomberg TV India editor Vivek Law points out that the new BJP government is riding on high expectations from both Indian as well as global investors. “The budget is the first detailed statement that will be very closely watched. We have heard the government’s campaign and manifesto that clearly said that once in power, they will resurrect the economy. Stock market is all about the foreign institutional investors (FII) and this market is only standing on the legs of the money that FIIs are bringing in. It is very important how they perceive the performance of the government and what this budget will give them,” he says.

Keeping this in mind, the channel has decided to begin its budget programming from 30 June, dedicating 60 to 70 per cent of time addressing the global audience.  In the run up to the budget which is fixed for 10 July, the various programmes will focus on India Inc, global view, youth and personal finance wherein discussion will be on what should be the government’s agenda and post the budget it will analyse what Jaitley has put forth for year 2014-15. “For the last few years, Indian investors have not been participating in the equity market much.  They are now keen to know if it is time to get back in the overall growth. Once the budget is announced we will discuss whether they have really managed to bring back the retail investor into the market,” adds Law.

Shows will focus primarily on the global investor with Vivek Law, Harsha Subramaniam, Anupriya Nair and Priyank Lakhia leading the pack. Panel discussions both in and out of studio have been arranged in Mumbai/Delhi, youth discussions in campuses and market and corporate shows in public locations. On 10 July, Bloomberg TV India says it will have global investors and experts from Hong Kong, Dubai, Sydney, London, Tokyo, Singapore and the US on board stating whether the budget sticks to its word or not.

The channel will also be leveraging its Bloomberg Terminal that has close to 350,000 subscribers world over and allows them to watch the channel live. “Given the fact that we are a JV, we have access to the entire network & content and that’s a huge advantage. If you are outside India and you want cutting edge live information, you can only get it from our terminal,” says Law.

Even though focus is on global investors, sponsors will not be very different with the primary sponsors from BFSI, automobiles and the consumer durables sector who are being approached. A 360 degree marketing campaign created by Triton Communications has been designed including outdoor, TV, print, online, social media, radio, ground activations and PR to promote the budget programming with spends close to Rs 80 lakhs to Rs 90 lakhs, the channel says.

Since 2012 the broadcaster has aimed at positioning the channel as an extension of its parent channel Bloomberg. Law is certain that it is not a day trader channel. “You will not get tips or any buy/sell calls on our channel. We reach out to the aspirational and influential audience, who are not necessarily rich. It could be the judiciary, political establishment, bureaucracy, top corporate professionals or global investors. This is in sync with the way our channel is world over,” he says. To add to this, changes have also been incorporated in the channel’s design and more are to be expected, soon.

Raj TV looking at raising Rs 200 crore through stake sale

MUMBAI: Raj TV Network is keen on further strengthening its presence in its core market of south India and also expanding its reach to the diaspora from the four states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The television network is on the lookout for equity investors – financial or strategic – to fund its growth plans. The company has appointed Destimony Securities as its advisor for the equity stake sale.

“By getting in investors, we are looking at raising approximately Rs 200 crore,” Destimony Securities MD and CEO Sudip Bandhopadhyay told Indiantelevision.com.

Raj TV Network plans to revamp its clutch of south Indian GECs, music and news channels and also on furthering its brand in the Telugu market.

The network operates 12 channels – four in Tamil, three in Telugu, two in Kannada, two in Malayalam and one in Hindi.

Raj TV Network also has a large library of Tamil movies which has not yet been tapped gainfully.

“We have a huge inventory of Tamil movies that needs to be monetised. Alongside, the large diaspora of the four states in the South needs to be captured,” Bandhopadhyay said.

Ernst & Young had in 2007 valued Raj TV Network’s movie collections at Rs 325 crore.

The network is currently busy revamping its Telugu channels  —  Raj Musix Telugu, Raj Telugu News and Vissa.  The relaunch of the Telugu channels is expected sometime next month. Raj TV Network also plans to rebrand Vissa to prefix the Raj brand.

Apart from this, Raj TV Network has ambitious plans to make its presence felt in northern parts of the country.

“We don’t just want to build the brand name in the south but also move to other regional markets as well,” says Raj TV MD M Raajhendhran.

The network is already present in a few Hindi speaking markets with Raj Parivar, which currently features only songs. It has long term plans to start GECs and other regional music channels as well in north India. Bhojpuri is one of the markets Raj TV Network is considering. Additionally, it is also looking at the Bengali market.

In the third quarter ended 31 December 2013, Raj TV Network reported a 53.98 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 4.99 crore (20.01 per cent of revenue during the quarter) from Rs 3.24 crore (18.55 per cent of revenue of that quarter) a year ago.

  • Datsun to sell vehicles directly through Nissan Motor in India

Datsun to sell vehicles directly through Nissan Motor in India

MUMBAI: The launch of the Datsun GO is now just months away, and when the first model goes on sale in early 2014 the vehicles will be sold directly through Nissan Motor in India.

Datsun global head Vincent Cobee said in a release: “Selling the Datsun GO and future Datsun models through Nissan Motor represents a natural evolution of the company’s operations in India, which are well recognised in the market. We are excited about launching the iconic Datsun brand in India and look forward to bringing a growing range of bespoke, locally-produced products and high level services to our customers.”

Cobee further added that an expanded model range will follow the introduction of the Datsun GO, a hatchback model that received positive reviews when it was revealed to the press and public earlier this year.

Datsun will work primarily with existing dealer investors who have already demonstrated high capabilities and commitment to the Nissan brand in recent years. This arrangement will in particular allow Datsun to rapidly establish a top quality, expansive retail network and open the brand to a large segment of the potential market straight from the initial launch.

Datsun is one of three brands within the Nissan Motor portfolio, joining Nissan and Infiniti. When president and CEO Carlos Ghosn announced that the venerable Datsun brand would reemerge after three decades, he said that the brand would serve optimistic up-and-coming customers in India.
