    Abhishek Kapadia joins iGKnights Digital Media Works as COO

    MUMBAI: Ad network and value-added-services firm iGKnights Digital Media Works has brought on board Abhishek Kapadia as the chief operating officer. The new appointment is a strategic move with the aim of strengthening and expanding the India leadership team of iGKnights Digital Media Works. Based out of UAE and Delhi, he will look after the overall functioning of the company and allied businesses.

    Prior to his role at iGKnights Media Works, h was associated with digital media firm Globocom as a partner and led multiple projects and businesses of the firm. With over fourteen years in the sales, business development and marketing sectors, Kapadia has also been associated with industry companies like Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, Indiatimes.com, Hungama, Symbiotic Infotech, and mobile performance advertising agency Mobusi.

    Speaking about his new role, Kapadia said, “The dynamic and fast expanding digital advertising industry has always enticed me into taking up greater initiatives and responsibilities.     Times Internet to shut its email service by 18 February

    MUMBAI: Times Internet, the new media business arm of Times Group, has decided to close down its email service on Indiatimes.com effective 18 February 2013 due to unviability of the business.

    The company said it has stopped accepting new users from 19 November.

    The meteoric rise of Gmail has prompted Indiatimes.com to do a rethink on its email service. Gmail has lion‘s share of email traffic in India beating even traditional service providers like Yahoo and Hotmail.

    "The Indiatimes.com Email Service will be discontinued and shall be permanently shut down with effect from 18th February, 2013 at 12 PM (Indian Standard Time).

    ndiatimes.com Email Service will stop accepting new users from 19th November, 2012," the company informed its existing users.

    "You will no longer be able to send or receive mails or access your account for the purpose of reading mail and/or transfer any data (i.e. emails, tasks, documents, folders, appointments, and/or contacts) currently saved in your account post 18th February, 2013 – 12 PM (Indian Standard Time)," it added.

    Indiatimes.com advised all email users to download emails/contacts/data from their Indiatimes mailbox via IMAP. It also said that users can continue to log in to all Times Internet Limited network sites using Indiatimes.com email address.

    MIH Group appoints Ashish Kashyap as CEO of India ops

    MUMBAI: MIH, part of the multinational media group Naspers Limited, has appointed Ashish Kashyap as the CEO of MIH’s internet operations in India.

    As the overall head for the company’s operations in India, Kashyap will be responsible for creating an organisation focused on building and operating cutting edge internet and mobile applications, unleashing consumer internet brands and also investing in start up businesses in the Indian online and digital space.

    Kashyap has over 12 years of experience spanning internet, television and radio businesses. Prior to joining MIH-Internet, Kashyap was the country head of Google India (Domestic Operations), wherein he set up the company’s India facing business from scratch. Before joining Google, Kashyap, was the general manager e-commerce at Indiatimes.com, where he was responsible for creating numerous innovations such as airline ticket auctions and tell your price amongst others. Kashyap also has had successful stints at MTV and Times FM.
