MUMBAI: Taking forward its legacy of addressing purposeful subject through #UnitedBy series, United Colors of Benetton presents a thought provoking digital film #UnitedByHarmony to showcase how a simple act of compassion and mutual understanding can allow a nation as diverse as India, to co-exist in harmony and peace. United Colors of Benetton commemorates India’s 73rd Independence Day by spreading this simple yet powerful message of uniting the nation through simple acts of harmony with a heartwarming digital film. Inspired by a true story of a Delhi resident, Sania Ahmad, showcases a simple yet profound act of inter-faith harmony that takes place in a Muslim locality during the Hindu festival of Navratras. The film recognizes the thoughtful and honest effort of a girl who in her own little way is spreading a powerful message. Through this the brand intends to inspire the whole nation and create a path for national integration!

The film opens with a view of a fully lit and decorated Hindu temple wherein a group of individuals, clad in traditional clothes sing religious songs accompanied with musical instruments, at a high volume. Suddenly everyone stops and takes a pause, when one of the elder members takes a look at his watch and urges the others to do so too. A hush falls upon the temple as the devotees go quiet in the middle of the ‘bhajan’. As the film progresses, it indicates, that the sudden silence was exercised by the large Hindu devotees in the temple to allow the ‘Azaan’ (Islamic call to worship) from the nearby mosque to be heard by the devout Muslims without any disturbances. The film ends on this emphatic and graceful note that when there is a genuine intent to respect and co-exist in peace, all it takes is simple thoughtful acts like these to bind the diverse social fabric of this nation in unity, harmony and empathy.

Speaking about the film, Mr. Sundeep Chugh, CEO, Benetton India Pvt. Ltd, said: “As we mark India’s 73rd Independence Day, we are still striving to achieve holistic unity and peaceful co-existence. Benetton strongly believes in highlighting the social causes and knitting the diverse colors of India together promoting national integration! We will continue to celebrate the true heroes of our nation with our iconic series of #Unitedby.”

Crafting a strong journey, Benetton India released its first India centric short film #UnitedbyPlay three years ago on Independence Day 2016, using the two biggest influences in a country that is obsessed with hero worship – Cricket and faith. #UnitedbyPlay was followed by an emotional video #UnitedByFaith that was released in 2017 depicting the endearing story of an unsung hero – Noorul Hasan, a Muslim resident in Lucknow who gave up a part of his house to restore an abandoned old Hindu temple that he shared a wall with. In 2018, Benetton India once again took a strong stand for ‘Unity’ showcasing the different perspectives of two generations as they explore the concepts of diversity and national unity through their campaign #UnitedByHope.

#UnitedByHarmony, as a campaign urges the citizens to share their story of harmony, peace and brotherhood on the social handles of Benetton India- one of which in turn will stand a chance to become the next film in the #UnitedBy series 2020

However, when his mother’s Alzheimer’s start progressing rapidly, he bids goodbye to his border surveillance and requests for a transfer to an army base in the Capital so that he can spend some time with his mother. • &pictures celebrates Naye India Ka Naya Josh with the Independence Day premiere of Uri: The Surgical Strike on Thursday, 15th August at 3 PM

&pictures celebrates Naye India Ka Naya Josh with the Independence Day premiere of Uri: The Surgical Strike on Thursday, 15th August at 3 PM

MUMBAI: As the nation gears up to celebrate its 73rd Independence Day, &pictures – Naye India Ka Blockbuster Movie Channel, will premiere Uri: The Surgical strike on Thursday, 15th August 2019 at 3 PM.  It was a historic moment in Indian history that was executed with complete precision while also sending the world a message: India will no longer shy away from a fight. The 2016 surgical strike was the dawn of a very vocal India that led to a universal shift in perception of the country. Directed by the debutant Aditya Dhar the movie features an ensemble cast comprising of Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in key roles along with Mohit Raina who made his Bollywood debut. Leading them all is Major Vihaan Singh Shergill played by none other than Vicky Kaushal.

The film reflects the sentiment that the entire nation felt in 2016, when four heavily armed militants ambushed the brigade headquarters at Uri and mercilessly killed 19 soldiers in their sleep. Be it avenging the deaths of fellow soldiers, or going ahead and occupying what is rightly ours; Uri: The Surgical Strike is representative of a Brave New India. An example of these emotions can be seen when Vihaan says, “Yeh Hindustan ab chup nahin baithega. Yeh naya Hindustan hai. Yeh ghar main ghusega bhi aur maarega bhi”

Vicky Kaushal who plays the character of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film said, “Uri is a very special film for me and our idea was to give tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. The soldiers give up their today for our tomorrow and no words can signify or repay the sacrifices they make for our country. The way audiences have resonated with the emotion of patriotism, valour and sacrifices of our armed forces has been amazing. As artists, that is the biggest takeaway for us. Fans who missed watching the movie in the theatres can catch the Independence Day Premiere of Uri on &pictures and I hope they will enjoy it.”

Yami Gautam who essays the role of an intelligence officer in the movie shared, “Uri is a very important film to me. We could literally feel patriotism surge in us with each scene we performed. There are films that one looks back as part of their filmography, and Uri is that one film which surpasses success for me; it will always stay with me. As a matter of fact, Uri inspired so many youngsters out there to join the Indian army. That is the power of cinema today. As the film premieres on &pictures this Independence Day, I really hope that people get an opportunity to watch it and understand the sacrifices of our brave hearts who keep us safe every day.”

Seen for the first time on the big screen, Mohit Raina said, “My instant reaction on being offered the role of Captain Karan Kashyap was only to be associated with a story of this kind. When I heard about a film being made on URI, I knew it won’t be made again. And given the sort of platform and visuals Aditya had in mind, I gauged the reach and respect it would get almost immediately after release. It is still talked about as one of the best war drama films made in Bollywood so far!”

Aditya Dhar the director of Uri said, “I am honored with the kind of love and response that Uri has received since its release. As a team, we would often discuss that if we were able to inspire even a single person to join the Defence Services after seeing the film, we would consider the purpose of making Uri served. I hope the movie continues to inspire young Indians to go ahead and dream big.”

The plot revolves around Major Vihaan Singh Shergill (Vicky Kaushal), a brave and determined officer. After a successful mission Vihaan wishes to retire from the army life; but soon finds himself torn between serving his ailing mother and his motherland. Govind Bharadwaj (Paresh Rawal), the National Security Advisor appoints Major Vihaan for the highly secretive operation planned under the guidance of the Prime Minister of India (Rajit Kapur). The movie is further divided into five chapters leading to the final one – the Surgical Strike. The film details the operation, showcasing the task force led by Major Vihaan, manoeuvre through the heart of the valley, into the PoK zone which is infiltrated by terrorist camps. One can feel a burgeoning sense of suspense and tension once the operation commences. From the dialogues, to the background music, each element of the film will strike a chord somewhere in you, that will fill your heart with patriotic sentiment and fervour.

  • Witness the flavour of patriotism this Independence Day, as Zee Cinema airs the World Television Premiere of Kesari on 15th August at 12 noon

Witness the flavour of patriotism this Independence Day, as Zee Cinema airs the World Television Premiere of Kesari on 15th August at 12 noon

MUMBAI: Based on a true historic event of the Battle of Saragarhi, Kesari is a legendary example of exemplary valour displayed by 21 Sikh soldiers. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari features superstar Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles. This Independence Day, Zee Cinema celebrates the jazba and valour of the 21 brave hearts who fought valiantly for their motherland by airing the World Television Premiere of Kesari on Thursday, 15th August 2019 at 12 noon.

The Battle of Saragarhi, which was fought on 12th September 1897 in the Tirah region of North-West Frontier Province, is known to be the bravest battle ever fought, the world over! 21 soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment fought against a humungous fleet of 10,000 Afghani invaders. Led by Havildar Ishar Singh (essayed by Akshay Kumar), this atomic task force of 21 soldiers proved to be the strongest opposition the Afghans ever faced. The soldiers chose to stand up for what they believed in – never quit, never stop. Even though they lost the battle, their efforts helped them win the war.

The martyrs set such an inspirational example of valour and commitment, with grit for honour, that it led the British Army to commemorate the entire unit with the Indian Order of Merit,  at that time the highest gallantry award which any Indian soldier could receive. In the present, September 12 (date of the battle) is observed as Saragarhi Day by the Indian Army, and also in Britain while two Gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ferozpur were built in the memory of the 21 martyred brave hearts. Till date, the Gurudwaras are visited by thousands of devotees every day. The Battle of Saragarhi can be referred to as ‘Heroism’ in its truest form.

Director Anurag Singh said, “Kesari is very close to my heart. The whole team worked very hard for two years on every aspect of film. It is our heartfelt tribute to all the martyrs, to the unmatched valour of the Sikhs, to our ‘mitti’ and I hope the fans will be able to catch the World Television Premiere of Kesari on Zee Cinema.”

The emotional war drama is Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit, which also went on to become the fourth highest Bollywood grosser of 2019 – with a remarkable collection of 154 crores in India alone. Dialogues like "Aaj meri paghdi bhi kesari … joh bahega mera woh lahu bhi kesari … aur mera jawab bhi kesari" fill your hearts with pride, and eyes with tears while the intense, visually stunning war sequences promise to be a complete visual treat for viewers. The film also has its humorous moments to instantly lighten up the mood. With Kesari, Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra team up for the very first time. Despite a small role portrayal by Parineeti, one is sure to love the fun banter between hers and Akshay’s character. The music of the film is heart-warmingly addictive. The romantic number, Ve Maahi voiced by Arijit Singh is the undisputed love song of the season while B Praak’s Teri Mitti invokes patriotism and pride in all the right ways.

As an ode to our brave armed forces, Zee Cinema will turn kesari between 13th – 15th August. Considered as the colour of bravery, sacrifice and brotherhood, the channel’s logo and brand assets with change to the colour saffron, to commemorate the valour and bravado of Indian soldiers. Indicating selflessness and courage, the colour poses as a reminder to the people to unite, becoming one, therein setting the base of a stronger and more powerful future of our nation.

MUMBAI: While we are all set to celebrate our 73rd Independence Day, let’s not forget that the sole reason for us being able to celebrate this freedom is the sheer selflessness of our soldiers. The Indian armed forces battling it out on the borders are an epitome of bravery and sacrifice. One such instance of bravery was the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers fought bravely against a mighty army of 10,000 Afghan invaders for their motherland and created history. This story is depicted in the movie Kesari, starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra. Kesariis all set for its World Television Premiere on Zee Cinema this 15th August at 12 noon.

Starting 1st August, fans can extend their support by donating any amount on the Bharat Ke Veer or Freechargeapp and website and share a screenshot tagging Zee Cinema and using the hashtag#MainBhiKesari. For every donation made, the channel will contribute ₹500 towards Bharat Ke Veer. Launched in April 2017 by Akshay Kumar and the Ministry of Home Affairs, the'Bharat Ke Veer' initiative started with the purpose of enabling willing donors to help and contribute towards the families of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Akshay Kumar, who launched the Bharat Ke Veer app in 2017 said,“Kesari depicts the iconic battle of Saragarhi that was fought in 1897, which is a prime example of bravery and sacrifice. Post any war or battle, it’s the families of soldiers who suffer unimaginable loss. With Zee Cinema’s #MainBhiKesari initiative we can go one step further from merely empathizing with them to supporting their families, wives, children and parents. Our soldiers put their lives at risk at the border for our safety, it is our responsibility now to go all out and support them. So, I urge all the viewers to step up and make a contribution towards our Bharat Ke Veer.”

Ruchir Tiwari, Business Head, Zee Hindi Movies Clustersaid,“When Zee Cinema adopted Seene Mein Cinema as the brand philosophy, the aim was to ignite the ‘Jazba’ in every Indian and inspire them to go beyond the ordinary and achieve the unachievable. With the #MainBhiKesari campaign, we are taking a step towards fulfilling our motto. With this initiative, we hope that we can bring people together as one community and make a difference to the lives of the armed forces and their kin.”

Over the years it has been Zee Cinema’s endeavour to take up social causes and work towards creating awareness. The channel also premieres movies with a social message and aims at highlighting a significant cause. Last year, for the World Television Premiere of Padman, the channel ran a tweet for a cause social media campaign#Padathon, which aimed at raising awareness about menstrual hygiene and creating a platform to start conversations about the topic. For every tweet uploaded with the hashtag, the channel contributed Rs.10 towards an NGO that made affordable sanitary pads. #ZeeForAll was another successful initiative undertaken by the channel in 2017 for the Independence Day Special movie – Dangal.  With an audio description for the visually impaired and subtitles for the hearing impaired audience, the movie was made accessible to all.
