  • Kingfisher goes all out at IFFI 2004

    MUMBAI: Kingfisher, the flagship brand of United Breweries Limited, has donned a distinct Goan identity this IFFI 2004. Kingfisher, the official beer of IFFI will be available in Goa for the 10 days of the festival in a commemorative pack designed by Mario Miranda.

    The colorful, cheerful pack is seen on all Kingfisher bottles, kiosks, hoardings and promotional material during the festival. ‘The King of Good Times’ also carried forward the theme while it participated in the IFFI carnival, which was organised specially for the delegates on the opening day of IFFI 2004.

    In addition, beer lovers will be able to buy Kingfisher from a currency-operated, unmanned vending machines at the beer kiosks that has been set up at all the IFFI related venues which include various beaches in Goa, which are screening the films. These kiosks and vending machines are placed on the beaches of Miramar, Calangute, and Morgim in North Goa, Colva in South Goa. Ponda and Mapusa are the two non-beach venues for the IFFI screenings during the festival.

    Announcing the various IFFI-related initiatives by Kingfisher, United Breweries Limited EVP Shekhar Ramamurthy said, ““IFFI is one of the most awaited events in India and also internationally. While the commemorative label by Mario Miranda is a tribute to the artistic talent that is celebrating cinema at Goa, the vending machines and kiosks is offering them an enhanced experience of enjoying their favourite beer even as they watch the movies at the beach and other locations.”
     
     

    “The vending machines can be programmed to dispense Kingfisher in different markets at the prevalent rates that are applicable there. The Kingfisher “Smart” vending machines are being first installed in Goa and thereafter will be installed across the country in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad, “ Ramamurthy added.

  • Idea cellular to be official telecom partner of IFFI 2004

    MUMBAI: Cellular service provider Idea Cellular will be partnering the Entertainment Society of Goa as the sole official telecommunications partner for the upcoming 35th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which will be held at Panjim from 29 November to 9 December.
     
     
    Entertainment Society of Goa CEO Sanjit Rodrigues said, “Goa is extremely delighted to host the International Film Festival of India 2004. The festival is a very prestigious event for the people of Goa and being chosen, as the host is testimony that Goa is an attractive and compelling destination for major international events. We are proud to have Idea as our official telecommunications partner and together we would make this prestigious event a grand success.”
     
     
    Commenting on the association, IDEA Cellular Limited head of Maharashtra and Goa circle Lakshmi Narayana said, “We are proud to invite our valued subscribers to experience this grand occasion, which the International Film festival promises to be.     To add to the hype associated with the festival, Idea is offering their subscribers the IFFI schedules on their fingertips. Subscribers can dial 4040 to keep themselves tuned in as Goa takes center stage with a line up of exciting activities like beach screenings, pyrotechnics, vintage car rallies, street plays, musical concerts and magic shows. Subscribers can also participate in a quiz contest specially designed for IFFI and win a trip to Goa.

    To host the festival, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Directorate of Film Festivals (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India) and the Government of Goa.

    The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is a prestigious, annual event hosted by the Government of India to showcase the best of Indian cinema and selections from international cinema.

    The Goa Medical College at Campal will be the administrative headquarters of IFFI. The Charles Correa-designed Kala Academy will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies and regular screenings. The Dinanath Mangeshkar auditorium in this complex, on the other hand, is slated to host both the opening and closing ceremonies of IFFI 2004.
