    India triumphs in historic Bilateral International Deaf Cricket Series against England

    Mumbai: In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Indian Deaf Cricket Team emerged victorious at the County Ground, Leicester in the bilateral series against England, showcasing their prowess and resilience on the international stage. Indian team was invited & hosted by England & South Wales Cricket Board.

    ECB played the perfect host and the team was delighted to get this unique opportunity to play in five cricket grounds & prove their mettle each time.  The Indian Deaf Cricket Team’s success in the bilateral series against England is a moment of celebration for the entire nation, as it marks another milestone in the journey of Indian cricket. As they continue to inspire and uplift through their achievements, they undoubtedly pave the way for future generations of deaf cricketers to dream big and aim high.

    The series witnessed an intense battle between India and England, with both teams demonstrating exceptional cricketing talent. However, it was the Indian team that dominated throughout, securing a commendable series win by defeating the hosts by six wickets in the seventh and final match of the series.

    Match details:

    Abhishek Singh was awarded the title of ‘Man of the Match’ while Sai Akash was referred to as ‘Man of the Series’. Captain Virender Singh took the maximum wickets.

    Mumbai: Victorinox, maker of the original Swiss army knife, welcomed the India Deaf Cricket Association Team to their Gute Reise Store in the national capital to wish them luck before they proceeded to Sharjah for the World Cup 2024.

    A tour of the store included a stop at the history wall, where all the players were fascinated to discover the 140-year-old legacy of Victorinox, a fourth-generation family-run company. Fun and camaraderie presided over high tea, hearty laughter, and huge smiles.

    Victorinox India chief marketing officer – brand & country head – watch Debraj Sengupta, presented the IDCA Team with personalized Swiss Army Knives to be prepared for any circumstance and outfitted the players with suitcases for their journey.

    The Indian Deaf Cricket team will participate in the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC) T20 Champions Trophy 2024 to be held in Sharjah (UAE) from 6 to 12 March 2024. Teams from six countries — India, Australia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka — will compete at Vision Cricket Center, Sharjah, UAE to win the title of world champion.

    Mumbai: The BRICs Chamber of Commerce hosted the BRICS-CCI annual Awards 2024 in New Delhi. The awards presented were for excellence, innovation, responsible business practices, community service & commitment to a sustainable future.

    IDCA was conferred the BRICS CCI Community Excellence Award in this glittering ceremony. The award was received by Patron, Reena Jain Malhotra, CEO, Roma Balwani, Committee Member, Jyoti Jain, Secretary, Ajay Kumar, and Indian Deaf Cricket Association.

    IDCA CEO Roma Balwani said, “It was an honour for IDCA to be given the prestigious B.A.R.A. award for Community Excellence. It underscores the importance of mainstreaming disability sport and IDCA’s endeavour is to provide a platform for talented hearing-impaired Indian cricketers, both men & women to showcase their prowess in the game of cricket. We recently concluded a successful maiden women’s T 10 tournament which was held in early January 2024 which celebrated & signalled the focus on diversity & inclusion.  ”

    Patron, Reena Jain Malhotra commented, “We are privileged to receive this maiden BRICs BARA award which recognised the effort and hard work of teams across India of young hearing-impaired students who have a passion for cricket. Today, I am delighted to receive this award in recognition of our hearing-impaired President, Sumit Jain & his team’s immense contribution to encourage, transform the lives of many of these specially abled Indian cricketers and give them the opportunity to play in national & international matches and be proud of their achievements.”

    Executive director, co-founder of BRICS-CCI and concept founder B.A.R.A, Dr. Sushi Singh emphasised B.A.R.A’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The World is One), embodying a commitment to unleash the power of the expanding BRICS bloc. Under the theme “Invest in our Planet,” the awards presented during the event recognised outstanding achievements in Academia, Business, Community, Media, and policymaking from various BRICS nations.

    KJ Alphons, former union minister of state for tourism and Guest of honour, gave away the awards in the august presence of chief guest, Maharaja Dr. Karan Singh, former member of Rajya Sabha.

    Mumbai:  The IDCA 1st T 10 Women’s Deaf Premier League 2024, in association with Serum Institute of India, a part of Cyrus Poonawalla Group, wasformally inaugurated in a glittering ceremony by the Chief Guest, Mr. Bhavin Thakkar, former cricketer, and three-times Ranji Trophy winner. Guest of Honor included Mr. Paschim Pathak, well know Umpire, Ms. Shalini Singh, Group Head – Brand & Communications, RPG Group, Mr.Jaswinder Narang, CEO, Villoo Poonawalla Foundation, representing Serum Institute of India, Cyrus Poonawalla Group, principal partner, Mr. Sujeet Jain, Chief Legal & Regulatory Officer, Nykaa.-Patron Partner, Sandeep Kumar, Head CSR-ICIL Ltd. CSR partner, Michael Kotas-Managing Director, John Cockerill India.

    The inaugural ceremony was attended by a galaxy of dignitaries from the cricketing & corporate world supporting this maiden Women’s Deaf Premier League, Mr. Prashant Athawale, renowned Commentator; Dr. Chirag Doshi, notablestatisticianand Umpire;and Mr. Dev Dutt, BCCI Certified Coach.

    Dedicated to nurturing upcoming sports talent among specially abled youth, Serum Institute of India, a part of Cyrus Poonawalla Group, has joined hands with the Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) as the Principal Partner. In this role, the group will extend full support to IDCA for the hearing-impaired women’s tournament as they compete in this power-packed Deaf Premier League to win the coveted cup.

    Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony, Thakkar said, “It is a proud moment for me to be associated with IDCA T10 Women’s Deaf Premier League. This league provides a platform for specially-abled women to showcase their talent. They have worked really hard towards it, and I am truly glad to be associated with them. This is indeed a proud moment for me, and together by doing our bit, we can make a big impact for specially-abled women. Let’s help them dream and believe that they too can achieve great heights.”

    Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, IDCA president Sumit Jain said, “Today is an important tournament as it signals IDCA’s focus on promoting not only world-class cricket but also emphasis on nurturing diversity and inclusion. All our partners share our vision and are committed to helping hearing-impaired cricketing talent and join the ‘DaretoDream’ movement to mainstream these players who have won many accolades for India. This is also a very special tournament as it is the first IDCA T 10 Women’s Deaf Premier league in 2024.”

    IDCA CEO Roma Balwani welcoming the chief guest andguest of honour at the inaugural ceremony said, “We are truly honouredby the presence of dignitaries who have come today to celebrate and motivate these hearing-impaired women of substance, who will demonstrate their prowess on the cricket field.Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Modiji has been championing the cause of disability sport in a significant way. He has also promoted the universal usage of sign language which will create more awareness and help break barriers for the hearing-impaired members of communities at large”.

    IDCAcommented patron Reena Jain Malhotra said, “It was a special moment for us at IDCA to see our women players come together to play the prestigious maiden IDCA T-10 Deaf Premier League in Mumbai. We are very thankful to all our support partners for their belief in the cause of hearing-impaired cricket. We hope to nurture and make it bigger and better in the year to come”.

    IDCA announces maiden T-10 Women’s Deaf Premier League in Mumbai

    Mumbai: The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) is organising the first T-10 Women’s Deaf Premier League in Mumbai from 8 to 11 January 2024.In its inaugural edition, six specially-abled women’s teams from different parts of the country will compete on the field to clinch the coveted Premier League trophy.

    IDCA president Sumit Jain commented, “We are grateful to Serum Institute of India, Cyrus Poonawalla Group, Nykaa & Indo Count for their wholehearted support to our movement of supporting hearing impaired Women players in our forthcoming tournaments in 2024. IDCA is proud of our women players, these are athletes despite their commitment to their home & families have brought immense pride to society & have excelled in the field of Cricket.”

    The four-day tournament will kick off with a special opening ceremony organised on Monday, January 8 at 9 AM at Police Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Marine Lines, Mumbai, Maharashtra. In this four-day tournament, six Deaf women’s cricket teams – Punjab Lions, UP. Warriorz, Mumbai Stars, Delhi Bulls, Hyderabad Eagles and Bangalore Badshahs – will play a total of 11 matches before making it to the finals.

    The two best teams will face each other in the final match scheduled for 11 January 2024.

    Serum Institute of India founder chairman, and IDCA T-10 Women’s Deaf Premier League Support partner Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla said, “We are delighted & committed to extend our support for the first T-10 Women’s Deaf Premier League 2024. It will help to motivate the specially-abled youth of the country to dream big and strive hard to achieve their dreams as nothing is impossible. We are looking forward to a long partnership with the brand.” 

    The winning team and the players will be felicitated for their exceptional performance at the closing ceremony to be held on 11 January at 4 PM. The IDCA T-10 champions will receive a prize of Rs 1, 00,000, while the runner-up will get Rs 50,000. The best individual sportsmen in categories such as batting, bowling, fielding, super sixes will receive cash awards.

    Supporting the tournament, Nykaa Foundation said, “IDCA T-10 Women’s Deaf Premier League is an exceptional platform for specially-abled women players to showcase their incredible talent. This initiative will help raise awareness among specially-abled players across the country to pursue their passion and aim for the stars in the world of sports. Additionally, it will foster a sense of empowerment and inclusivity within the sports community. We are excited to support IDCA once again in this initiative and look forward to the upcoming tournament.”

    IDCA CEO Roma Balwani added, “The excitement of playing in Mumbai & competing in the home ground of stalwarts of cricket is truly special.
