    IBN7’s ‘Operation Yamraj’ revealed counterfeit medicine racket

    MUMBAI: Operation Yamraj, a sting operation conducted by IBN7, unearthed a big racket of manufacturing and selling of fake & counterfeit medicines. The racket is based out of Meerut, not very far from the National Capital Delhi. 

     

    IBN7’s undercover reporter approached the masterminds of the racket posing as a businessman dealing in medicines. They were ready to supply cheap chemicals packaged in the bottles of a reputed company. They were so confident of their fake products that they claimed even the owners of these reputed companies will not be able to find any difference. They primarily target the medicines that are sold over the counter and do not require a medical practitioner’s prescription. Their offerings include medicines from common ailments such as cough, fever and pain to serious diseases of liver & kidney.

     

    The channel aired Operation Yamraj on 1 December 2015 at 9 pm. The Uttar Pradesh administration took cognizance of this immediately and the UP Health Department has ordered an investigation into the matter. Raids are being conducted at various places in Meerut by the UP Police in co-ordination with other concerned departments. S P Yadav, State Minister of Medical & Health, Uttar Pradesh has assured that strict action will be taken against the accused. Many prominent leaders including Rajiv Shukla, K C Tyagi, Jagdambika Pal and Meerut MP Rajeev Agarwal across political parties have lauded IBN7’s efforts and have promised to raise the issue in Parliament. Former UP CM Mayawati has demanded a CBI enquiry into the matter. The story found great traction on social media with the hashtag #IBN7OpYamraj was amongst the top trends in India.

    MUMBAI: CNN-IBN and IBN7 concluded that the Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav led Grand Alliance was set to form the government in Bihar, an hour before rest of the TV channels. CNN-IBN and IBN7 had called the elections and declared that Nitish Kumar was set to retain power on the 8 November at 10:03 am.

     

    Both the channels were miles ahead of other channels in reporting the most accurate figures. By 9:30 am, while all channels were predicting a BJP win, CNN-IBN and IBN7 had already aired that the Grand Alliance was likely to win the elections. Network18’s extensive network of reporters who were present at every counting station all over Bihar tracked the trends and reported the same to the News Centre without any delay, thereby enabling the IBN Network to beat all other competing channels.

    MUMBAI:  CNN-IBN and IBN7’s programming on the upcoming Bihar Elections is focused on bringing the actual picture from the Ground Zero. In continuation of this, the channels will bring a special pre-poll survey to comprehend the overall scenario, likely seat wise outcome and key issues which will matter in these elections. The findings of the survey are set to telecast on 8th October, 2015 on both the channels.

    DD Freedish auctions 8 channels for Rs 31.3 crore in 22nd online e-auction

    NEW DELHI: Doordarshan earned Rs 31.3 crore from the auction of eight slots to Indian television channels on its free-to-air DTH platform Freedish in the 22nd e-auction.

     

    The latest e-auction was held on 22 September. DD’s attempt is to touch the target of 112 television channels in the next few months.

     

    Speaking to Indiantelevision.com, DD deputy director general C K Jain said that against the reserve price of Rs 3.7 crore per slot for the online e-auction, it earned the highest figure of Rs 4.2 crore from Sanskaar channel, which has come on to the platform for the first time.

     

    Another channel, which has hopped on to the Freedish platform for the first time is WOW Cinema.

     

    The other channels are: IBN7, Aastha, Aastha Bhajan, News Nation, Bhojpuri Cinema, and Dangal. While these channels were a part of Freedish earlier, they had to re-bid as their contract had expired.

     

    The auction was held barely six weeks after the last e-auction in August, which earned DD Rs 23.2 crore.

     

    Indiantelevision.com has also learnt that the bid amount went up to Rs 4.7 crore in earlier e-auctions.

     

    DD sources said that while Freedish may be encrypted soon from Mpeg 2 to Mpeg4 to keep a tab on the number of subscribers, it would remain free-to-air.

     

    The e-Auction was conducted by C1 India Pvt. Ltd., Noida.   

     

    Currently, Freedish has 64 channels including its own channels, and Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV.

    MUMBAI: Bihar’s political landscape has witnessed a lot of changes over the last one and a half years. And thus, the upcoming assembly elections in the state are sure to grab a lot of eyeballs.

     

    With a number of critical issues to be raised and discussed before people take their call at the elections, not just Bihar but the entire nation will have their eyes trained to observe the developments.

     

    To cater to the national viewers in getting a clearer picture of the general public opinion in Bihar before the elections, and raising the right questions for the people in Bihar, IBN7 has lined up content heavy programming on what is happening at ground zero.

On the other hand, Patliputra Ka Mahasangram – Big Debates Special with Sumit Awasthi will be aired every Sunday at 8 pm.

     

    Patliputra Ka Mahasangram – Polling Days Special will be aired through the day on 12, 16 and 28 October as well as on 1 and 5 November.

     

    Patliputra Ka Mahasangram – Counting Day Special will be aired through the day on 8 November.

    MUMBAI: News on social media is no longer about live news feed or trending hashtags. Viewers of CNN IBN and IBN7 can now engage real-time with anchors and journalists through Twitter’s live-streaming app Periscope.

     

    The unique campaign, which was initiated on Independence Day in August 2015, intensifies to churn out rich interactive content, enhancing audience engagement and empowering viewers to watch and engage through the app. On Periscope, viewers can not only watch but also interact with CNN-IBN and IBN7 journalists by sending messages, and expressing their appreciation by tapping the screen to send ‘hearts’, a feature in the Periscope app.

     

    Some of the path-breaking live scopes by the news channel include the streaming of Karma Paljor’s Periscope on Indonesian Air Crash, Steve Herman’s eyewitness Periscope on Bangkok blast, battle for Bihar and the recent census row amongst others.

    MUMBAI: In today’s highly opinionated and competitive age, people’s tolerance levels are plummeting and getting your voice heard above the din might as well be called a major feat accomplished. In what can definitely be termed as a new low on Indian television, panelists on IBN7’s evening show debate on self-proclaimed God woman Radhe Ma, resorted to physical violence.

     

    While one frequently witnesses verbal duals, usage of unparliamentary language and heated arguments on news channel debates, panelists on Hindi news channel IBN7 gave viewers a look into the most shocking and shameful incident on 13 September’s live evening show.

     

    The panel comprised astrologer Rakhi Bai, self proclaimed dharam gurus Om Maharaj and Deepa Sharma. While debating on the channel’s show called Aaj Ka Mudda, where the discussion was on the controversial God woman Radhe Ma, things out of hand when panelists started fighting and slapping each other.

     

    During the heated discussion, Sharma stood up, removed her mic and moved to Om Maharaj and began slapping him on his face following which Om Maharaj also physically assaulted her after saying: “Tu kya marengi mujhe!” 

     

    If these are India’s so called God men and God women, they leave a lot left to be desired. Even as IBN7 has condemned this act that took place on their channel, it’s time that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) takes note of such incidences and gives channels arap on the knuckles.

    MUMBAI: With an aim to enhance the channel’s prime time experience, IBN7 is all set to give its evening prime time programming a makeover starting tonight (3 August, 2015). Redesigned to provide a refreshed look, the prime time band – 8 – 10 pm will see a new show – Hum Toh Poochenge apart from re-branded India 9 Baje, Danaadan and Criminal.

     

    Hum Toh Poochenge will be the channel’s flagship show, which will be hosted by IBN7 deputy managing editor Sumit Awasthi. It will provide viewers with insight on the latest happenings from around the country and focus on the two biggest topics of the day. It will feature a debate for half-an-hour on each topic with those at the centre of the news that is being showcased. The channel will be inviting viewers to give their views/questions using various touch points like Twitter, Facebook, SMS and the channel’s website – IBNKhabar to ensure that the show is truly interactive.

     

    India 9 Baje, Danaadan and Criminal are the other tent poles of the channel’s prime time programming line-up and will be seen in a complete new avatar with fresh graphics, de-cluttered packaging and high levels of energy. The crime based show at 10 pm will be rechristened and will be called- Criminal. The show will bring to the viewers the most distinctive crime news from around the country.

    MUMBAI: As the world is all set to mark the celebration of first ever International Yoga Day, IBN7 will telecast exclusive programming titled Yog Ka Mahakumbh for its viewers. Yoga is perhaps one of India’s greatest contribution to the world and with an aim to celebrate this unique practice, International Yoga Day – An initiative taken by the Indian Government will bring together 192 countries for the celebration on 21 June, 2015.

     

    IBN7 has put together an extensive programming line-up for the occasion. The programming will cover all aspects of Yoga and will demonstrate its history and culture, different techniques and its therapeutic effect.

    72% satisfaction rate with Modi Government: CNN IBN, IBN7 poll

    MUMBAI: As Network18’s news channels CNN-IBN and IBN7’s special programming around Modi Government’s one year in power draws to a close, the channels presented a special poll for its viewers assessing the government’s performance from the citizen’s perspective.

     

    Marking a shift in leadership and style of governance, the Modi Government undertook a series of measures to achieve the vision of a better India. To evaluate the impact of these changes at the ground level, Axis MyIndia conducted a comprehensive survey across 23 states and more than 155 districts with a sample size of 20,000 across all age groups of society with a 70/30 urban-rural spread.

     

    The survey findings showed that over 72 per cent of the respondents said that they were satisfied with the performance of the Modi Government on account of development, skillful governance and lower prices in the previous year.  Close to 56 per cent of the sample, believed that Modi is an effective Prime Minister and has helped improve India’s image globally.

     

    Network18 news president Umesh Upadhyay said, “We have always ensured to follow the most robust and scientific research processes to truly capture the voice of the people. This survey is another initiative driven by this thought process and we believe that it reflects the sentiments of the common men and women of this country, most accurately, with regards to the performance of the Modi Government as it reaches the crucial milestone of an year in office.”

     

    On the issue of the relationship between the Government and RSS, 32 per cent of the respondents felt that there was no interference by RSS in the affairs of the government. On the impact of controversial statements such as those relating to Ghar Wapasi, approx 31 per cent of the respondent felt that such statement do not dent the image of the Government at all whereas approx 33 per cent felt that such statements do have an adverse impact; overall 43 per cent of the respondents felt that those making controversial statement should be controlled.
