    Third edition of Hutch Kalakka Povathu Yaaru on Vijay TV

    MUMBAI: Riding high on the popularity of laughter challenge contests, the new season of Hutch Kalakka Povathu Yaaru on Vijay TV is all set to launch on 9 March.This will be the third edition of the show.

    The winner of this contest stands to win a grand prize of 5 million. Since the past series have raked in the popularity; the channel has decided to bring in contestants from across the globe this time around. The show also promises a fresh new line up which will include female contestants as well. Judges on this show include Chinni Jayanth and Madan Bob.

    The first round of auditions to pick a fresh set of talents shall take place on the 11 and 18 February. The first set of auditions will take place in Tirunelveli, Madurai and Coimbatore and at Chennai, Pondycherry and Salem on 18 February.

    MUMBAI: Mobile content based on Barbie’s latest movie, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses has been launched across mobile networks in India including Hutch, Airtel, Idea, BSNL, MTNL, Reliance and Tata.

    Wallpapers, animations, themes, mono tones, poly tones, SMS tones, true tones, video clips and MMS Clips / M-cards will also be available and can be accessed by any GPRS enabled phone, informs an official release.

    Speaking on Barbie’s latest marketing initiative Mattel Toys India managing director Sanjay Luthra said, “The range of 12 Dancing Princesses: the dancing Barbie doll, the other doll characters, a musical castle, a stretch-limo Carriage etc. supported by lifestyle consumer products – takes every little girl deeper into the world of brand ‘Barbie’ and enhances her magical experience and interaction with her favourite Doll.     Hungama mobile launches the ‘Don’ game, on a multiplayer gaming environment

    MUMBAI: Hungama Mobile and Excel Entertainment, the producers of Don, have launched two mobile games on the movie and is said to be the first ever multiplayer online game for any bollywood movie on www.gaminghungama.com .

    The graphics of the game have been done at the same level as the quality of special effects in the movie to give it a contemporary look and the action sequences are just as slick as the movie itself.

    The game created by Hungama Mobile, was unveiled by Shah Rukh Khan in Mumbai, along with the film’s producer Ritesh Sidhwani and the director Farhan Akhtar.

    Speaking at the launch, Shah Rukh said, “Not only is it a treat for the game lover’s but also a great way to merchandise.This is just an initial step for this kind of a market and i’m sure it will grow tremendously in the time to come”

    Hungama Mobile MD and CEO Neeraj Roy said, “Our creative and gaming team visited Kuala Lumpur for the making of the movie to understand the flow of the movie and decide on game play. They came back and worked on the concept and created a storyboard and later the virtual game.”

    The Mobile game is available in two versions – one is the race and chase game on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, with the back drop of the Petronas Towers and the other is the role-playing game. The race and chase, gives the player a chance to outfox the Don and capture him. In the other, the player has to help Shah Rukh find the secret disc, which he desperately seeks to prove that he is not the Don, but a victim of a serious case of mistaken identity.

    “The Hungama creative team watched the movie rushes including car crashes in Kuala Lumpur, sky diving and some of the fight sequences and have incorporated all those hair-raising stunts in the game,” said movie director Farhan Akhtar.

    The game is available on mobile and online as a multiplayer game. All operators in India including Hutch, Airtel, Reliance, Tata, Idea and others will provide the Don game. Besides, it will also be available across the Hungama mobile distribution network with over 50 carriers in 20 countries.

    MUMBAI: Cellular provider and ICC Global Partner Hutch has lined up a host of offerings for its subscribers at the ICC Champions Trophy in India.

    Hutch is providing live scores, analysis and live commentary in Hindi and English, SMS updates and Hutch alerts for fans to stay in touch with the action at the Champions Trophy.
    Hutch’s services during the ICC Champions Trophy include: On mobile portal PlanetHutch – Free live scores as well as other paid content like games, wallpapers and themes; also a reverse auction of tickets for the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 Finals; video replays of all ICC Champions Trophy 2006 matches; and coaching techniques with India captain Rahul Dravid.

    On voice portal – Expert analysis in Hindi of all matches by former India player Arun Lal; the same in English for selected matches by former India player Sanjay Manjarekar & Arun Lal.

    In addition to these services, Hutch is beginning a promotion on 15 October with all prepaid subscribers that refill with Rs 250 getting alerts as well as who buy a new Hutch postpaid connection for all cricket matches for the next one month free of cost.

    The promotion starts from the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 and continues for six months, until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. Also, new subscribers – prepaid as well as postpaid – can enter a contest and win an all expense paid trip to see the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in the West Indies and ICC merchandising. These offers follow a cricket quiz Hutch ran during September with the winners getting tickets and accommodation to the final of the ICC Champions Trophy in Mumbai on 5 November.

    Kovai Ashok started his performance with automobile sound effects specially auto rickshaw…He made many modulation in his vocal to bring out various sounds of ‘Auto’ when it is driven by different Tamil film stars like ‘vennira aadai’ Murthi, Raguvaran, Surli Rajan and Goundamani… He says, “I am an ardent fan of all the comedians of black and while films. I used to admire them and wanted to become a good comedian. I am happy that my talent is recognized and now am able to perform in front of audience and make them laugh”.

    Robo Shankar from Chennai

    Robo Shankar performs the AIDS awareness program keeping humor as base; leading Tamil film star’s voices used for ‘Aids’ awareness. ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth and Raguvaran’ were the ones which got more applause. He says, ‘Kalakkapovathu Yaaru has helped me bring forth the talent from our very old Tamil movies that has been lying within me all these years”.

    Gopinathan from Chennai

    Gopi presented a song from Vasoolraja M.B.B.S (Kalaka Povadhu Yaaru) with this opening line he preceded the song with the lyrics about the show KalakkaPovadhu Yaaru.

    He performed a mime of a person got the habit of digging his ears with feathers finally he shows how a person suffer to take the feather from his ears. He says, ‘it’s a great platform for persons who are craving for a chance to prove their talents, thanks for shows like this’.

    MICHEL AUGUSTIN:

    He enacted a situation in which comedy actors Vadivelu & Vivek were caught in a wrestling arrina and how they happened to escape from the place. And he played the Trumpet music using his vocal sound for the patriotic (Jahe Jahahe Achcha). He says, ‘I am happy that on watch my performance people do laugh forgetting their distress at least for a while’.

    Through their rib-tickling jokes and performance the chosen ‘comedy king’ will be given a chance to host an all-new comedy show on Vijay TV. The finals will be held on 03 March 2006, as one and half hour show as well.

    HTMT to buy out Pacific Horizon’s 1.23 per cent stake in Hutch

    MUMBAI: Hinduja TMT Ltd has announced that it has entered into a share purchase agreement with Pacific Horizon Ltd, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, Japan for buying an effective 1.23 per cent stake in Hutchison Essar Ltd (Hutch).

    The agreement is for purchase of Sumitomo’s 100 per cent stake in Pacific Horizon, which currently holds 24.12 per cent of IndusInd Telecom Network Ltd (ITNL). In Hutch, ITNL currently holds a 5.11 per cent stake. This translates to Pacific Horizon holding an effective stake of 1.23 per cent in Hutch.

    HTMT, according to the agreement, is purchasing 50 per cent of Pacific Horizon up front while the remaining stake will be bought at a later date.

    With this acquisition, HTMT, together with its wholly owned subsidiary InNetwork Entertainment Ltd, will hold 91.54 per cent of ITNL. This corresponds to a 4.68 per cent effective stake in Hutch, the company told BSE.
