    A series of 7 debacles at the box office

    MUMBAI: The flood of seven releases this week – Arjun, Yeh Khula Aasmaan, MLA, Rakhtbeej, Chutki Bajake, Love Recipe, Love Wrinkle Free – met with disastrous results at the box office.

    Department has proved to be a debacle. After the film‘s opening weekend collection of Rs 81 million (not Rs 71 million as reported last week), the film ended the first week with Rs 111 million.

    Ishaqzaade has continued to sustain well in its second week, adding Rs 125 million to take its tally to Rs 382.5 million. The third weekend collections stood at Rs 43 million, closing its 18-day net collection of Rs 425.5 million.

    Dangerous Ishhq 3-D collected just Rs 4 million in its second week. The film has netted Rs 63 million.

    Jannat 2 added Rs 24 million in its third week, taking its total to Rs 448 million.

    Vicky Donour remained strong even in its fifth week to collect Rs 28 million, making its kitty swell to Rs 383 million.

    Housefull2 has collected Rs 6 million in its seventh week. With this, the film totals Rs 1.17 billion.

    Ishqzaade nets Rs 159 mn in opening weekend

    MUMBAI: Ishqzaade has been a successful launch pad for Arjun Kapoor while consolidating the standing of Parineeti Chopra, this being only her second film after Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.

    The film, which opened to good response, enjoyed positive word of mouth and collected Rs 159 million in its first weekend. The collections showed a rise on Saturday with Sunday‘s jump being more pronounced at 37 per cent over Friday figures.

    Dangerous Ishq 3D has not been liked and its 3D tag has not been of any help. The film collected Rs 37 million over its opening weekend.

    Jannat 2 braved unkind reports to end its first week with Rs 356 million, after an opening weekend of 240.5 million. The movie has collected another Rs 41 million for the second weekend.

    Tezz, poor in its first week run, managed to add just Rs 11 million in its second week, taking its total to Rs 158 million.

    Vicky Donour continued its good run in its third week with a collection of Rs 55 million. The film‘s net collection stands at Rs 314 million.

    Hate Story netted Rs 6 million in its third week, taking its total to Rs 136 million.

    Housefull2 added another Rs 23 million in its fifth week. The film has netted Rs 1.17 billion.

    Tezz opens weak to net Rs 118 mn in first weekend

    Mumbai: Tezz, a much touted slick action thriller, turned out to be a damp squib facing rejection at the box office. The film opened to poor response, dropping almost 40 per cent on Saturday and failed to better the opening Friday figures to end the opening weekend with Rs 118 million. Monday trade reports predict further doom for the film.

    Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi found no audience.

    Vicky Donour has enjoyed good patronage and has become sort of a cult film in its own right, especially with gentry audience. After a healthy opening weekend, the film continued to do well over the week to collect Rs 142 million. The Delhi-NCR and Punjab figures are like that of a major star cast film.

    Hate Story carried its ‘sex appeal’ for a few days with single screen audience and went on to end its opening week with Rs 111 million. The shows have been curtailed in the second week to one or two per screen.

    Housefull2 has sustained very well in its third week to collect Rs 149 million, taking its total to Rs 1.10 billion.

    Kahaani kept adding to its tally. At the end of the seventh week, with the addition of Rs 30 million, the film’s total collections are Rs 593.9 million.
