Cadbury Bournvita unveils a short film ‘The Boy Who Failed’ in its latest campaign ‘Tayyari Jeet Ki’

Mumbai: Mondelez India’s nutrition brand Cadbury Bournvita has rolled out a four-minute short film, “The Boy Who Failed,” introducing a perspective shift on failure under its campaign “Tayyari Jeet Ki.”

The latest film emphasises the role of failure in today’s hyper-competitive world in making one stronger and more resilient than before. It brings alive the simple yet ironic life truth that failure is the biggest teacher on the path to success, and hence the need to perceive it accordingly. Thus, conveying the message of normalising failure and encouraging kids to learn from it and bounce back stronger for another step towards their “Tayyari Jeet Ki.”

As an extension of this campaign, Cadbury Bournvita has partnered with the Indian athletes who almost made it to the winning podium, despite the loss, emerging as nothing less than champions. Amid a bunch of success stories and medal tallies, the brand will be welcoming and supporting athletes Anahat Singh, Hima Das, and Ashish Kumar Chaudhary, who’ve gained more than a medal—an unforgettable experience and tonnes of learning to win their next game. The brand will be leveraging OOH advertising to celebrate their fighting spirit in the most special way.

The players will also use their social media handles to share their inspiring stories and game learning, emphasising the message of rising above failures. This will be backed by some inspiring content on dealing with failure on Cadbury Bournvita’s “Tayyari Jeet Ki” (tayyarijeetki.in) parenting website.

Commenting on the campaign, Mondelez India vice president-marketing Anil Viswanathan said, “In today’s hyper-competitive world, even the smallest of failures can impact children physically, mentally, and emotionally. In such an environment, it becomes imperative for parents to help children realise their true potential and help them embrace failure gracefully while encouraging them to learn from it.”

Although failure has always been portrayed in a negative light, this film allowed us to emphasise the importance of the right “Tayyari” and to shift perspective towards how people view failures and disappointments. To emphasise the message further, we have associated with Indian athletes who will help inspire children to deal with failure and emerge stronger for their future endeavours,” he added.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy India executive creative director Akshay Seth and group creative director Chinmay Raut added, “As a brand, we wish to change the perspective on failure that we as a country have, in the most inspiring and authentic manner. In the wake of the recent sporting events, while the country applauded the winners, we wanted to reach out and inspire the Indian athletes who, despite their best, didn’t make it to the podium. Because failing is fine, not fighting back is not. And we’re sure our champions will do exactly that with the nation’s support.”

Commenting on the campaign, Wavemaker India chief client office and office head-west Shekhar Banerjee said, “No one can personify our message better than athletes. All of us, as parents and kids, have something to learn from them: the spirit of never giving up. Even when they don’t win, they leave us hopeful. They teach us to fail gracefully and come back even harder. Big thanks to the athletes for supporting us in this cause.”

This latest campaign is supported by a high-decibel 360-degree marketing campaign including disruptive outdoor activations, partnerships with leading social media platforms and influencer engagement. Additionally, the brand has launched a parenting website (www.tayyarijeetki.in) that will host inspiring stories about the players in addition to anchoring progressive and holistic conversations on parenting for kids during their formative years.

  • Adidas inspires the world to ‘seeing possibilities’ through global film series

Adidas inspires the world to ‘seeing possibilities’ through global film series

MUMBAI: Global sportswear brand Adidas has introduced the evolution of its long-standing brand attitude, Impossible Is Nothing. Told in bold, human films, Seeing Possibilities is about rebellious optimism, rooted in the purpose from Adidas in the power of sports to change lives.

Told in the documentary style of home footage, the series provides a previously unseen side to some of the most documented individuals in the world, enabled via a powerful narrative delivered by friends or fellow athletes, and animated via resurfaced footage from the archives. Featuring intimate moments, it follows stories in sport and culture, showing how optimism and action has shaped their lives. Exploring the future they imagined for themselves and making it a reality, the series celebrates the trailblazers that have made history on a global stage. More importantly, it aims to inspire others, empowering them by this collection of very human stories as a powerful demonstration of what optimism can achieve.

Sportsperson Hima Das saw the possibilities in being the first Indian athlete to win gold at the IAAF World U20 Championships which inspires others to see the possibilities of globally succeeding in sport wherever they come from. An icon and a trailblazer in athletics, her personal win was also a win for the community she was raised in, and for everyone in the small towns of the world that are seeing the possibilities to create magic moments on a global stage.

Bollywood superstar and youth icon Ranveer Singh saw the possibilities to cut through stereotypes and make it big, while defying cultural expectations, which inspires people to express themselves. Ranveer only sees open doors – and then blasts straight through them. A rank outsider, self-made in the entertainment business, he has carved his name in the history of Indian cinema over the span of a decade with his incredible era-defining performances.

Beyoncé saw the possibilities of inviting all of us to find our voice. To use her platform as a stage to celebrate our differences with all people.

Demonstrating how this attitude lives within adidas’ own DNA, several of the films explore what this means for innovative design – reimagining what a world-record beating distance shoe could be with the adizero Adios Pro, or how to help end plastic waste in collaboration with Parley’s CEO Cyrill Gutsch.

With the brand’s purpose and attitude at its heart, adidas recently unveiled plans against its three strategic focuses to creating a better future for sport through sustainability, credibility and inclusivity:

Building a more sustainable future, with a commitment that by 2024 we will have phased out virgin polyester and only use recycled polyester in all products across the business.

Uniting and including all people in sport, which includes extending adidas’ UEFA contract into Women’s EUROs and Champions League.

Pushing for innovations that have never been done before and then going further, including launching the potential of 3D printed midsoles with 4D4WD and the upcoming products in collaboration with Allbirds.

The episodic content series kicks off 19 April, with new stories dropping throughout Spring into Summer. See more possibilities @adidas and on adidas.com/ImpossibleIsNothing throughout 2021 and beyond.

  • Technology and sports: Indian fans lead the change

Technology and sports: Indian fans lead the change

MUMBAI: The marriage of sports with technology is reaping rewards. Nearly 90 per cent of Indian fans believe that the use of emerging technologies in sports has enhanced their overall viewing experience, both inside and outside the stadium, according to a Capgemini research institute report on ‘Emerging technologies in sports: reimagining the fan experience'. Additionally, 70 per cent of sports fans across the world point out that technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) have changed their overall viewing experience.

“The advent of the AI, AR, and VR age has added a new dimension to the sports genre. It has pushed the creative boundaries and sports broadcasters are lapping up the tech on offer,” says Sony Pictures Sports Networks, head – marketing & on-air promotions Neville Bastawalla. “The VR and AR setup, a part of Sony Sports studios, have constantly been used for marquee events like UEFA Champions League, India tour of Australia 2019, Commonwealth Games, UFC, etc. It has really added another layer of interest, intrigue and visual delight for sports fans, creating more immersive sports viewing experience.”

Citing an example of technology that helps the sports broadcaster, Bastawalla says, “Imagine one studio catering to various sports but with a different look on a flick of a few buttons. One can start the day with an Australia theme studio in the morning and get a completely new set designed for European football at night – all this in one studio and through the magic of VR.”

“However, the sports broadcasting industry has just scratched the surface as far as the power of VR and AR are concerned. Globally, tech partners are working around the clock to deliver the next big thing on this platform,” adds the marketing head of Sony Sports channels.

Echoing the views of Bastawalla, Dentsu Aegis Network – South Asia director – data sciences, Abhinay Bhasin says, “Technologies like AR, AI-driven systems and VR have only spurred the growth of users and engagement of sports fans by offering ‘never seen before’ experiences. The future application of such technology is limitless. Imagine creating an experience where you are at the finish line just as Hima Das finishes her sprint or on the field just as MS Dhoni knocks a winning six!”

More than 65 per cent of fans, across the globe, have increased the number of matches they watch on traditional TV channels, whereas 60 per cent of sports fans are watching matches on digital platforms. Over 91 per cent of fans across the globe have increased their spending on team or brand merchandise thanks to technological advancements.

“Technology used in sports broadcast has helped advertisers in various ways in recent times,” says Bastawalla. “For example, during LIVE cricket broadcast, virtual reality is not only used for display statistics or player information as an immersive graphic component, but also has become a tool through which advertisers can get visibility on the playing field.”

Meanwhile, Bhasin says, “Digital has propelled the movement of eyeballs from being glued to television sets to now being glued to mobile and digital screens on the go. The ubiquitous consumption of data fuelled by inexpensive smart phones and telco wars has only given momentum to a shift in the online behaviour of audiences.”

There has also been a marginal rise in the way e-sports is being consumed across the globe. Topping the chart in watching and playing sport through e-sports, the report said, India has a fan base of over 70 per cent who have watched e-sports and 57 per cent have played it.

Bhasin mentions, “With the present and future now being driven on an online world, for example Hotstar, which logged 300 million users and a 40 per cent market share of active users in April 2019, sports is being rapidly shifted to digital screens – requiring brands to follow audiences and engage in an online space.”

The report says, “This research has laid out the benefits those organisations can reap by appropriately deploying emerging technologies to not only enhance the fan experience but also to attract more fans.”

“The common drawback broadcasters and advertisers face is in keeping audience engagement levels at constant highs,” says the DAN data science director. “Every format of sport has moments where energy levels are at lows and there is a constant drop out the risk of audiences.”

“As technology pushes the creative boundaries in terms of delivering information, it creates a new avenue to have more and new-age advertisers on board. However, it being an upcoming and nascent field, has high entry barriers and need deep investments,” concludes Bastawalla.
