MAX, the premium Hindi movies and special events channel brings you the Bollywood romantic action film, ‘Heropanti,’ at 8 pm on Saturday, 18th October with a repeat telecast on Sunday, 19th October at 1 pm.

A remake of the 2008 Telugu film Parugu, Heropanti directed by Sabbir Khan, sees star kid Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon making their Hindi film debuts. The film starts off with Renu [Sandeepa Dhar] the eldest daughter of a no-nonsense patriarch Chaudhary Sahib [Prakash Raj] eloping with her boyfriend (Rakesh) on the day of her marriage.  This leads to her father and his enraged relations kidnapping Rakesh’s friends, including Bablu [Tiger Shroff] to get details of Rakesh’s whereabouts. With Bablu losing his heart to Dippy [Kriti Sanon], who happens to be Chaudhary’s younger daughter, the movie goes on to reveal whether their love can survive the terror of a brutal clan and the violent landscape it is set against.

Talking about his first day of the shoot, Tiger Shroff, said, “I was very nervous and very anxious. Initially, I couldn’t give the shot. I went back to the van and I teared up a little. I thought to myself, I am my father’s son, what will my father think if I don’t give the shot, what will people say because my dad is such a big personality. I was scared of how people would judge me. So I psyched myself, took the shot which turned out to be ok and from then it was smooth sailing.”

Catch Tiger Shroff perform gravity defying action stunts by tuning in to catch the MAX television premier of ‘Heropanti’ on Saturday 18th October at 8 pm and Sunday 19th October at 1 pm.

  • Holiday continues to rule at BO

Holiday continues to rule at BO

MUMBAI: Humshakals has been adjudged as one of the worst films of recent times. The critics came down heavily on it especially on social media.

However, thanks to the buzz created on social media people did go out to watch the film out of curiosity and to get a first-hand experience. This has reflected on the film’s collections.

The film has been sold at an unbelievable price considering its face value. All said, it has collected Rs 35.2 crore for its first weekend maintaining even figures all three days despite no opposition.

The film could have gained at least by a crore had the local Delhi-UP distributor not missed out on about 40 single screen cinemas; the condition of the exhibitors signing agreement for October release Bang Bang along with Humshakals was not agreeable to the exhibitors which resulted in these cinemas not screening the Humshakals.

Fugly has not been appreciated and has ended its first week with collections of Rs 9.25 crore.

Chal Bhaag is so poor in its first week as to the very act of releasing the film theatrically has added to the investors’ liability.

Machhli Jal Ki Rani Hai has managed to put together Rs 1.25 crore in its first week.

Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty makes the most of open run with no oppositions as it rakes up as much as Rs 30.8 crore in its second week to take it close to 100 crore mark. Its unusual high price needs a better third week which seems likely, again. Its two week total is Rs 97.05.

Heropanti has managed a figure of Rs 40 lakh in its fourth week taking its four week total to Rs 52.85 crore.

  • Movies go unnoticed this week at BO

Movies go unnoticed this week at BO

MUMBAI: This week saw a number of inconsequential films which had no draw and meant total lack of creativity. The highly-publicised Fugly directed by  third time helmer Kabir Sadanand managed to collect Rs 6.5 crore over the weekend. Described as a comedy, it was nowhere near being one – it rather resorted to hyperbole, hoping it would make us laugh! But it failed miserably as my lips were not curled upwards even during one scene throughout the film.

Chal Bhaag could attract no audience. Machhli Jal Ki Raani Hai faced no audience no show status as well.

There were a few other releases which went unnoticed but mentioned here for the record. 18.11 Code Of Secrecy, Unforgettable and Naari Teri Shakti Anokhi lost without a trace.

Holiday, though opened to a mixed response, got some good word of mouth to consolidate itself. The open run sans any major opposition helped too. The film ended its first week with a total of Rs 66.25 crore. With poor opposition in its second week, the film may hold on well to put together another Rs 22-25 crore or so. However, its high price tag may never see it through to plus side.

Filmistan has been exempted from entertainment tax in Maharashtra. The film is monotonously poor and has barely managed to collect Rs 4.25 crore for its first week. Citilights has collected Rs 90 lakh in its second week taking its two week total to Rs 5.9 crore and Heropanti has collected Rs 2.20 crore in its third week to take its three week tally to Rs 52.45 crore.

  • Akshay Kumar’s ‘Holiday’ earns Rs 40.2 crore in opening week

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Holiday’ earns Rs 40.2 crore in opening week

MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty had a weaker opening than expected on day one, show one. However, the collections improved as the day progressed. The opening also suffered due to colleges reopening and the suspense over pending admissions of many students. The film took a leap on Sunday to end its opening weekend with Rs 40.2 crore which is short of expectations for a solo release and the very high price tag of the film. The film will have to sustain well in the days to come.

Filmistan has proved to be a damp squib with neither face value nor a definite promotion campaign. With Hindi film audience, critical acclaim and awards is no assurance of box office success. The film has collected Rs 2.85 crore in its first weekend.

Heropanti has maintained excellent collections in its second week. The film collected Rs 14.25 crore to take its two week total to Rs 50.15 crore.

Citylights has managed to collect about Rs 5 crore for its first week. While Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi is poor with figures of Rs 2.15 crore in its first week, 2 States has added Rs 30 lakh in its seventh week to take its seven week tally to Rs 104.05 crore.

  • A dark week for ‘Citylights’ at BO

A dark week for ‘Citylights’ at BO

MUMBAI: This was a bad week for the exhibitors, especially with multiplexes having more than one screen to fill. Remake of Manila Metro, Citylights, a gross injustice to a Charles Chaplin’s film title, turns out to be a pretentious film with little to do with the life of migrants in Mumbai. A purportedly black film that is aimed at awards, proves to be poor at box office. It collects a meagre Rs 3.25 crore, despite the actor director pair winning the National Awards last year; another reminder that the National Awards mean nothing to the ticket buying audience.

A colloquially titled Delhi flavoured film, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi faces the same fate as its title, whatever it means. Film ‘thand’ ho gayi! The collections with the figures of Rs 1.55 crore for the opening weekend take it nowhere.

Tiger Shroff has always been in media despite not being in films, thanks to his father, Jackie Shroff’s goodwill. Also thanks to this goodwill, the film with average content and shoddy handling,  Tiger’s debut film,  Heropanti, not only takes a healthy weekend but also goes on to take a respectable first week of Rs 35.9 crore. The film has continued to do well into its second weekend as well.

Kochadaiiyan has managed to collect just about Rs 1.65 crore in its first week.

The Xpose has added Rs 50 lakh in its second week to take its total to Rs 12.85 crore. Hawaa Hawaai has added Rs 55 lakh in its third week to take its three week total to Rs 8.5 crore.

2 States has added Rs 80 lakh in its sixth week to take its six week total to Rs 103.75 crore.

  • Heropanti creates a bang at the BO

Heropanti creates a bang at the BO

MUMBAI: Tiger Shroff, with his mastery over action and dance, has carried his debut film, Heropanti, on his shoulders with the collections maintaining evenly through its opening weekend to collect Rs 21 crore.

Rajnikant may be a media star but his films found no takers in the Hindi belt. Kochadaiiyan, his latest, part animated film, meets with poor response with shows being cancelled due to lack of audience at many places.

The Children Of War has managed to collect about Rs 70 lakh in its first week.

Much promoted, Himesh Reshammiya’s The Xpose ends its first week with figures of Rs 12.35 crore which just about marks the end of its recovery.

Hawaa Hawaai is steady in its second week. The film collects Rs 1.9 crore for its second week taking its two week total to Rs 7.95 crore.

2 States is holding well in its fifth week. The film has added Rs 2.75 crore in its fifth week taking its five week total to Rs 102.95 crore.
