    JioStar acquires exclusive broadcast and streaming rights for US Open for the next five years

    MUMBAI: JioStar announced that it has acquired the exclusive broadcast and streaming rights for the US Open Tennis Championships for the next five years. Secured by the USTA’s media rights agency, IMG, this landmark partnership will see every match from the hard courts of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center broadcasted on Star Sports Network and streamed on JioHotstar, delivering every ace, rally, and match point directly to millions of Indian screens.

    This year’s edition promises edge-of-the-seat drama, rising stars, and battles between a growing generation of legends as the men’s and women’s singles Main Draw will be played across 15 competition days. Indian fans will be treated to breathtaking tennis action with Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Świątek, Novak Djokovic, and Coco Gauff taking the court and Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka looking to defend their men’s and women’s singles titles respectively.

    The tournament also announced a reimagination of its US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, which this year will feature 16 star-studded pairs all vying for US$ 1 million in prize money going to the winning team. The blockbuster field will include many of the men and women ranked in the Top 10, nine Grand Slam singles champions and veritable legends of the game. Alcaraz will be pairing up with Emma Raducanu, Sinner is entered with Emma Navarro, Świątek will double up with Casper Ruud, Djokovic will come together with fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic and Venus Williams will compete with Reilly Opelka. On top of that, Ben Shelton will pair with world doubles No. 1 Taylor Townsend and the defending US Open Mixed Doubles Champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori will compete to defend their title.

    IPL 2022: YuppTV bags broadcasting rights in 99 countries

    Mumbai: Streaming platform YuppTV has bagged the international broadcasting rights of Tata IPL 2022 in 99 countries. This is its fifth consecutive year for the platform to stream the tournament abroad.

    The matches will be broadcast in the regions of Australia, Continental Europe, South East Asia (except Singapore), Malaysia, Central and South America, Central Asia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Japan, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives etc.

    “Cricket has always been a massive crowd-puller and IPL has reimagined the format and the excitement associated with it,” said YuppTV founder and CEO Uday Reddy. “In alignment with the objective of bringing cricket to the masses, we are delighted to be the streaming platform of choice in expanding the outreach to 99 nations across the globe.     Tata IPL 2022, which began airing on 26 March, marks the debut of two new franchises Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) along with the existing franchises Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

    The league matches will be held at Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, and MCA International Stadium in Pune. The tournament comprises 74 matches this season.

    Disney Star elevates Harry Griffith to head rights acquisition & syndication-sports

    Mumbai: The Walt Disney Company has expanded Harry Griffith’s role to head rights acquisition and syndication sports for Disney Star. He will report to Disney Star head sports Sanjog Gupta. 

    Harry will be taking over additional responsibilities of rights acquisition and key licensor relationships in addition to his current responsibility of heading global syndication and sales for sports. Harry has been a part of the sports team since July 2015. He started his journey with the sales team and proceeded to take on global syndication of sports rights. Over the last year, Harry has managed tough negotiations in the Middle East and facilitated rights deal renewals across the world.

    Griffith has over 15 years of experience working in the media, sports, and entertainment industries. His expertise lies in TV/digital media rights, ad sales solutions, rights acquisition, syndication, sponsorship, digital, monetisation and business development for the world’s leading rights owners, agencies and broadcasters in multiple territories.

    Prior to joining Star TV Network in 2015, he was associated with Eurosport as international sales and partnerships manager. He has also been with IMG Media for eight years before he quit as commercial sales and partnerships manager.
